I believe that tonights winner will not be who everyone expects to win. Hopefully ALL girls step up their game tonight. At prelims not a single girl seemed to have the total package. And many of them seemed scared and nervous on stage. Get it together girls, you're headed for the big time and what I saw at prelims wonn't cut it at MA!

great job skylar, she will be a wonderful miss hawaii 2012!!!
i saw on the news that she gave leis out at Kapiolani hospital this morning to the kids there. She's starting her reign as Miss hawaii on the right foot. Hopefully she will be as involved as the last miss hawaii was. Especially since every penny that they earn goes strait to hawaii's hospital and not to some corporate people on the mainland. Go Skylar!

Are you an aspiring pageant titleholder with a passion for the environment? Do you have ideas about the “green” elements of a platform issue or cause about which you are already passionate? If so, the 2012 United States Earth Pageants may be the competition for you!

Miss Earth United States is the USA preliminary to Miss Earth 2012 is slated to be held this October in Jakarta, Indonesia. And, Miss Teen Earth United States, also crowned during this competition, is the perfect developmental competition for the young woman who dreams of ultimately representing the USA at Miss Earth in the near future.

Founded in 2001 by Carousel Productions, of Manila, to crown a pageant titleholder to serve a global ambassador for the environment each year; Miss Earth with its “Beauties for a Cause,” theme is now the third largest beauty pageant in the world in terms of the number of national-level competitions held to select delegates to participate in the international finals. At Miss Earth United States, contestants will be scored based upon:

Environmental Awareness

Personality in Swimsuit

Elegance in Evening Gown

Overall Impression

Note: Talent is NOT a mandatory phase of competition for the United States Earth Pageants.

Our 2012 national competition will be held from August 6-8 in the Carolina Theater of the Carowinds theme park outside Charlotte, NC. Your entry fee includes: Opening Number Ensemble, Competition Swimsuit and Competition Swimsuit Shoes, as well as lodging and meals while in the Charlotte, NC, area for the pageant.

So I've been on this site many times and I realized that there are a lot of supporters who overdo the bad posters. I'm a hilo girl, who will be doing miss garden isle in February. Now before some of you start talking about me withholding rights from others... I would run in miss kona coffee, but I'm a little overweight.. so at least I have time to prepare myself. Does anyone have any advice for me? Tips? thank you so much

Alright, since no one is really saying anything new, or offering any other insight, I will go ahead and give my review on Miss Hawaii 2011. I would love to hear everyone else's take too.

First of all, for a pageant that stands for female empowerment and how strong women are today, it was ironic that the show would start off with a song talking about "Burlesque"; and repeating the line, "Get your ass up, show me how you burlesque." Just thought that didn't make sense, though I did love the jazz-squares. Also, in the introduction, notice how majority of them went for VOLUME in the hair. Salon808 made it look like this was a pageant in the 80s. Glad they toned it down throughout the night.

The swimsuit competition went on WAY TOO FAST. If the swimsuit dance number is longer than the actual competition, something's wrong. I kind of felt bad for everyone who paid so much money to watch it there live, and then get seated far away--and have to sit through all the dancing. But on the upside of the dancing, I thought the swimsuit musicmix made by 24/7 Dance Force was FLAWLESS. And, Miss Kona Coffee killed it in swimsuit, I honestly thought she was going to take this award too.

There was definitely a lack of talent this year. I just think, if you're going to compete at Miss Hawaii, you need to up your game. Dancing a hula that you obviously just learned for this pageant is not enough. "Sophisticated Hula" needs to be forever-banned from Miss Hawaii, unless done right. The singing was ATROCIOUS--somewhere, I knew Tioni Tam Sing was dying of laughter. Though Lacy won the overall talent award, it just seemed so mediocre. Her chanting was ok, and the dance was so-so, the most impressive thing was her dress, but it just seemed like the same type of dress we saw the past few years--same style of metallic material worn by Raceen in 2009, and Caroline in 2010--not mention, doing the same song as Nicole Fox in 2008. I thought "Great Balls of Fire" was super-corny, but Lauren really did a superb job with it. Though we have seen these jump rope tricks in the past, I'm glad she tried to keep in fresh. I especially liked the last "Oooohh!" in the song. Maya's talent was my favorite of the night. Mixing Hawaiian with modern/lyrical dance and rhythmic gymnastics--amazing!

After reading many of the posts boasting of how Daphne Sanchez is one of the top-runners, I was looking forward to seeing her. Needless to say, after the introduction, everything went downhill. That bracelet during swimsuit looked very cheap, and not to mention, that talent. For a professional singer, I not only expected her to blow everyone out of the water, but THAT song. How are you going to celebrate women's independence by singing a song about lust?

The evening gown competition was stupid. I think that was dumb to have the girls prepare for evening gown, and then ask a question on the spot. It ruined the flow of the night, and Billy V. sucks at this job.

All the gowns were ugly this year. I seriously question these girls and their director's taste. Lauren's was probably the best one, but, I didn't like that it looked like a "Cheape" knockoff of Miss Arkansas' gown from Miss America. Brittani Woodward's dress looked disgusting, `Iolani Palace called, it wants it's curtains back. It really seemed like white was a trend in the beginning, but not really successful. Shannon looked like Mrs. Hawaii when she came out, enough said. Tatiana's dress was nice, but halter was not a good choice for her at all. Lacy's dress looked terrible, I suspect if there was some sabotage going on backstage, because that seriously could not be the dress she said "I want to wear that at Miss Hawaii" with--not to mention, that side-bun made her look like she was 15. And Maya's just looked like Prom 2011 gone way wrong. For a girl with a beautiful body, it added so much weight that is not there.

I also didn't like that all of their questions related to their platforms, kind of too easy--but on the other hand, they randomly ask Maya her opinion of a very controversial issue, but then ask Tatiana about what makes Hawaii special?

AS for the awards, I thought Maya and Lacy deserved to place higher than Brittani and Shannon. Brittani's talent sucked. For everyone saying she's Hawaiian and should have won, please refer back to this phase of competition. If you're this unsure dancing hula, than you have no right throwing out the Hawaiian card. Also, I once again emphasize that hideous evening gown.

Shannon reminds me of a dinosaur. Her posing just tries to hard. During swimsuit, she just looked so stiff, and uncomfortable. And I think her limbs are too long for her. She tries to bend and look shorter, but she should embrace the height and be proud that she can tower over these other girls. Needless to say, I'm glad she's aging out.

As for Lauren, we all knew she would be the winner, even before the show started. Miss Hawaii has turned into a line of succession, where you almost always need to be "in" with the board, and earn your place, the competition comes after the politics, the achievements on paper, and the ass-kissing. If you notice, in recent history, it can date back to Olena Heu, Malika Didley, Pili Gaison, Ashley Layfield, Raceen Woolford, and Jalee. Nicole Fox seemed to break the mold, but, if you remember, everyone picked Angela Everhart to take it that year. But it just made sense that Lauren would win. I am not saying this is the only reason, but it is a big part of it. Lauren is a great girl, has an amazing platform, very talented, and will be a great representation of Hawaii. I hope she brings her A-game to Miss America, because they are expecting BIG THINGS after Nicole, Raceen, and especially, Jalee. Hawaii always brings it, so I hope she gets to working hard.

Overall, this pageant was alright, but I am looking forward to Miss USA this weekend! I hear Angela Byrd is really impressing some people up there!

Subject: LAUREN CHEAPE COULD BE THE NEXT MISS AMERICA

I'm excited that Lauren Cheape is the new miss hawaii. I think she will do a great job. She was obviously the most prepared for the role of miss hawaii. The last two years she has had an equal chance of being miss hawaii as any of the other girls. Is sad that theres so many jealous haters (probably just directors who's girls didn't have a chance at winning). Get off of this island... you're the ones thats ruining Hawaiis aloha spirit.

Do you really think that she is not motivated?!?! I thought it was pretty funny that all the girls collectively raised 20 thousand dollars and 13 thousand of it was by Lauren. That should say enough about her dedication and motivation. And the majority of it was what she raised from going to schools and from business to business. (so to all you haters that probably just think she has a rich family that donated it... get the facts correct you clowns!!)

I guess the main reason you haters are on here is because you're not good enough to ever be chosen as a real judge who knows what they are doing. So many negative comments about how she's a haole with no aloha spirit, but not a single person on here is writing their real name on here to back up all that talk of theirs.... you panties. Its probably a good idea that you didn't put your real name up on here, because then everyone would realize just how dumb you really are.

So Lauren Cheape won... not too surprised... The judges are suppose to judge each contestant individually and not compare the girls to one another. The whole saying "It's not a competition, the only person you are competing with is yourself." Clearly this is whole bunch of bull and the judges didn't do a good job. They picked Lauren because she just had the best stuff on paper (it had nothing to do with actually keeping Hawaii's best interest in mind, I mean anyone can do a whole lot of hours of community service but does it mean that it came from the heart or that she had the right attitude towards it, I think NOT!) and because it was such a crappy year with such a small number of contestants and such weak contestants, of course Lauren was going to stand out. Have you noticed she has always made it to the Miss Hawaii comnpetition every year, but never won... only placed at best. It's beacuse she is not meant for the job!

If she is serious about representing Hawaii, she needs to change her attitude and stop sticking her nose up in the air. She's gotta learn what Aloha spirit really is and be able to adopt it. She's really gotta work....

But to be honest I highly doubt she can live up to the job duties..... This year will be a Sh*t year for Miss Hawaii.

:)
Stop hating you cry babies. It's not Lauren's fault she was better than everybody. Granted it was a relatively weak year, but Lauren is still a VERY strong competitor regardless of her competition. Many of the first timers can run again, just like Lauren did...quite a few Miss Hawaii's have run more than once. I'd hate to see you all talk about someone you ACTUALLY KNOW.

Lauren clearly won the pageant outright and will be the best representative with a national platform, winning CMN, community service and other awards.

Why is it that the Miss Hawaii website is not currently updated or anything...? I mean, it's the day of the pageant... how are we supposed to be informed? I guess I have a date with GOOGLE. :) Good luck ladies!!!

Hawaii usually announces the names earlier than this. Who is on the panel?
