We do national level glitz. Occasionally, my mom would pressure me into putting my DD in a small local pageant. No matter HOW much I toned her down, it never seemed to work out. I agree with the other poster. I just stay in my own "pond." It's so much easier that way. I just have to deal with my mom everytime the local festival pageant comes around...uggg.

Our festival pageant probably shouldn't even be considered a pageant- not even natural. It seems like the girls with barely brushed hair that just twirl on the x's win over put together girls. The one thing that set me over the edge was last year when my dd entered and was first out in her group. Her talent wasn't the most technical, but it was still cute and fun to watch. The judges seemed to enjoy it, but the girl after my dd had a very skilled talent. Later I heard one judge ask another what happened to "contestant ___'s talent score" (my dd). He said he changed them after seeing the other contestant. I was so angry and when I brought this issue to the director, she said that the judges could do whatever they wanted as long as the scoresheets weren't in her hand!
