Date Posted: 21:53:50 08/13/08 Wed Hi Laetitia Youv'e learnt a bit of history about Zurrieq Road The Eden Theatre property belonged to the Abdilla / ta - Kalatu Family and a few doors away there used to be a Grocery Shop. Opposite the shop it was all farmland and during WW2 the Army used to store many large guns placed in the fields. Call again. Thanks. ***************************** >>Hi, Berzy, that's really interesting, I never knew >there was a cinema there. >>You are invited to post a message about Birzebbuga - >> >>Pretty Pretty Pretty Bay. >> >>Thanks. Date Posted: 06:50:58 08/08/09 Sat Many thanks for taking the picture, can you please tell me from what building it was taken from ? when I lived there I don't remember much being in front of the Church at that height. Another quick question if you don't mind, what was the bus number that used to go to Valetta, I remember it only cost a few cents to get there and occassionally we used to just hang on the side. One of them is the Band Club. So it is most likely the photo was taken from the roof top. Today the Bbuga bus number is 11 and been like that for a good while. Back in 1992 the bus fare to Valletta was 11p, then in 1999 it was 16p. Today 2009 it is much higher. ---------- [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 07:28:50 08/16/09 Sun From things I can remember there used to be some shops to the side of St Peter's Church, a newsagent and a couple more stores. I remember going down the road to the sea just after the elections and seeing writing on the road concerning the Maltese Labour Club / Association, I'd never seen anything like that before. Hopefully within the next 12 months I'll be bringing my Texan Wife there to celebrate our wedding anniversary and re-live some of the happiest days of my life. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 15:14:56 03/29/09 Sun Hi Berzy. What a nice collection of photos. We emigrated top Australia in 1963 from Malta. Our main residence was Hamrun but we had a holiday place in Birzebbugia for many years. Our First place was this very Gunpost. My father was in the Army and it was leased to him. We spent many Summers in it and as children, had a most wonderful time. You evoked many happy memories. Thanks. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 09:53:25 12/09/08 Tue First of all I would like to congratulate you on your very interesting and informative website. I form a part of the Culture Group in Birzebbuga (L-Ghaqda Storja u Kultura)and was very interested in the picture of Eden theatre, which was situated in the road were I presently live. After the war the same theatre was used by Maltese people to put up Maltese Comedies and my father used to be one of the actors. I would really like to have a copy of the original photo of the theatre without the computer title on top to keep it in our records. If you yourself is interested on other photos I can send you one of the theatre from inside with actors doing a play. Thank You Emmanuel Francalanza [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |
