Unsolved Pinoy Mysteries

At a tender age of 17, Marcial was a war correspondent for The Manila Times. Marcial’s war experience provided him with a treasure chest of stories which inspired him to write a movie screenplay. His screenplay was made into a movie, starring Jaime de la Rosa and a 16–year old actress named Dorothy. Helmed by renowned director Lamberto Avellana, the movie was a huge success. During the first FAMAS award ceremony in 1952, Dorothy received the first FAMAS trophy for best supporting actress for her role in the movie.

The only child of a US soldier and a Filipina, Dorothy was also a semi-finalist in the 1952 Miss Philippines beauty contest. It was therefore not surprising that Marcial got so enamored with Dorothy that he did everything to court her. Marcial even carried Dorothy’s make-up kit during movie shootings. Marcial became Dorothy’s dakilang alalay.

Dorothy studied pre-Law at the University of Santo Tomas but her booming movie career made it impossible for her to continue. Likewise, Marcial took up Law at the University of the Philippines but the lure of journalism ended his dream of becoming a lawyer.

Marcial became known for his gift of gab and political skill. This led to his victory as a town mayor at a young age of 22. Meanwhile, Dorothy became popular for her acting prowess and dancing skill. This led to her victory in several acting derbies. Marcial’s younger sister was the director of the movie which won for Dorothy her last FAMAS best supporting actress award.

But while Philippine politics and show business naturally intertwine, political kingpin Marcial and movie queen Dorothy were not destined to be together.

Dorothy married a man named Victorino who fathered her only daughter. But their union did not last. After a series of unsuccessful relationships, Dorothy finally tied the knot again with an American B-movie actor-singer. In contrast, Marcial remained faithfully married all his life to an American-educated woman who bore his only son and four daughters.

But while Marcial survived the Korean War which he covered, he did not survive the war on the home front. Likewise, Dorothy did not survive her own war at home.

Both Marcial and Dorothy suffered violent deaths. Marcial was shot. Dorothy was stabbed several times.

Committed 18 years apart, the separate murders of Marcial and Dorothy made headlines several years ago. However, both murders remained unsolved to this day. Some say that identifying their killers is not the issue because everyone, except the authorities, seems to know the identity of their respective killers. Rumors even abound that the masterminds in the murders of Marcial and Dorothy were related to them by affinity. But the real mystery lies in the fact that the perpetrators of these high-profile crimes remain scot-free to this day, despite the enormous clout which the victims’ respective family wields.

Some say that Marcial’s death was a result of his being branded a communist by the government. This is ironic because the screenplay which Marcial wrote and which won for Dorothy her first FAMAS trophy was the second in a trilogy of anti-communist movies which were produced by LVN Pictures in support of the government’s efforts to fight communism.

Dorothy’s shocking death led to embarrassing revelations about her painful personal battle. Marcial’s equally shocking death led to well-deserved recognition of his heroic political battle.

Dorothy was killed amid rows of cars in the covered and dark parking lot of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) building. Despite his escorts, Marcial was killed amid rows of airplanes in a wide open space in broad daylight while descending down the tarmac of what was then known as the Manila International Airport (MIA).

Of course, we all know Dorothy as Dolphy’s TV wife, Marsha.

And we all know Marcial as Cory’s real-life husband, Ninoy.

Yes, Dorothy Jones was the real name of Nida Blanca.

And yes, Marcial Bonifacio was the fictitious name on the passport of Benigno Aquino, Jr. on the day that he was murdered.

And you know the rest of their stories.

Guilty of Apocalypse: The Case Against 2012
The thesis of this book is that the year 2012 will be pivotal, perhaps catastrophic, possibly revelatory, to a degree unmatched in human history.
1. Ancient Mayan prophecies based on two millennia of meticulous astronomical observations indicate that 12/21/12 will mark the birth of a new age, accompanied, as all births are, by blood and agony as well as hope and promise.

2. Since the 1940’s, and particularly, since 2003, the Sun has behaved more tumultuously than any time since the rapid global warming that accompanied the melting of the last Ice Age. Solar physicists concur that solar activity will next peak, at record-setting levels, in 2012.

3. Storms on the Sun are related to storms on the Earth. The great wave of 2005 hurricanes Katrina, Rita and Wilma coincided with one of the stormiest weeks in the recorded history of the Sun.

4. The Earth’s magnetic field, our primary defense against harmful solar radiation, has begun to dwindle, with cracks comparable in scale to the ozone hole opening up randomly. A pole shift, in which such protection falls nearly to zero as the North and South magnetic poles reverse position, may well be under way.

5. Russian geophysicists believe that the Solar System has entered an interstellar energy cloud. This cloud is energizing and destabilizing the Sun and all the planets’ atmospheres. Their predictions for catastrophe resulting from the Earth’s encounter with this energy cloud range from 2010 to 2020.

6. Berkeley physicists, who discovered that the dinosaurs and 70% of all other species on Earth were extinguished by an impact 65 million years ago, maintain, with 99% certainty, that we are now overdue for another such mega-catastrophe.

7. The Yellowstone supervolcano, which erupts catastrophically every 600,000 to 700,000 years, is preparing to blow. The most recent eruption of comparable magnitude, at Lake Toba, Indonesia, 74,000 years ago, led to the death of more than 90% of the world’s population at the time.

8. Eastern philosophies such the I Ching, Chinese book of changes, and also Hindu theology, have been plausibly interpreted as supporting the 2012 end date, as have a range of indigenous belief systems.

9. At least one scholarly interpretation of the Bible predicts that the Earth will be annihilated in 2012. The burgeoning Armageddonist movement of Muslims, Christians and Jews actively seeks to precipitate the final End-Times battle.

10. Have a nice day.

MAG BAGO NA TAYO MGA KAPATID HABANG MAY PANAHON PANG NATITIRA. GOD FORGIVE ALL OUR SINS.

I was browsing the internet and I came across this website. This is about a Filipino American named David. I got moved by his story and I thought of sharing it with you. Read this:

Is it “Nothing ventured, nothing gained?” or “Nothing ventured, nothing lost?” Most people run away from turmoil. I, in this particular situation, am running into it on purpose and willingly. Most people go through some kind of scenario in life where they are peer-pressured into, analogically, “jumping off a bridge.” Well, in this case, everyone's telling me not to “jump” (and logic and reason is on their side), but somehow I feel like I was meant to dive into the pit anyways.

Almost every Filipino wants to get out of the Philippines. It is a small and densely populated nation where more than 85 million drowning people are clawing at each other for a gasp of air. They want to run away from their diseased third-world country, plagued by starvation, crime, low wages, political corruption, poor economic growth, and terrorist attacks, just to mention a few. They all yearn to go abroad, usually because of the desire to live in a more civilized nation where life is relatively safer, is more comfortable, is more financially secure, has modern medicine and technology, has a higher quality of education, etc. Well, I had this and more. And then I sacrificed it all. I have let go of the comforts and financial ease of living in the US, a full scholarship to an elite "Ivy League" US college, and essentially the whole American Dream in order to become a modern nomad in the Philippines. I, a half Filipino half American raised in the US, now will be facing life in a turmoil-infested third world country, and I am doing so willingly. Furthermore, as this trip is a leap of independence and an emphasis of self-sufficiency, I am going there without any family or external support and without any extra money or belongings except what I feel are necessities for survival. What led to this? I kind of know, but it’s hard to explain completely. Perhaps life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness and searching and understanding the meaning to it all is a large part of the reason. My instinct also tells me I may be able to find it in my birthplace, the bucolic provinces of the Philippines. I view the pastoral setting as my “safe haven” although in reality going there may prove to be my undoing. I am clouded by visions of “striking gold” in a country where everyone tells me nothing glitters. I am trying to find what it is I am meant to do in life in the Philippine provinces where modern civilization has not fully taken over life, and even though everyone tells me I am wrong, my heart still tells me that my purpose may just be found in this radical free-spirited journey.

My journey begins on February 21, 2006. I will try to document my travels as I try to live in the Philippines and do some self-retrospection in hopes of understanding life and finding myself, meaning, and my purpose at the same time.

*******

To all my readers who can understand Filipino, watch this video. It really is very touching.

Marian Rivera, Filipina version of Marimar!

As expected, Marimar registered the highest rating among all tv programs on Monday but not as impressive as the ratings of other pilot episodes of a number of GMA series in the past. Marimar registered a 36.6%, 10% higher than it’s rival show Kapamilya Deal or No Deal which received 26.5%. It’s also good enough to be the highest for the day but it’s runner-up has only 0.6% difference and it’s Richard Gutierrez‘ Lupin which registered a 36% rating. Angel Locsin’s Darna is still holding the highest pilot rating ever, a remarkable 47.1% registered on April 11, 2005.

But of course, it’s not fair to compare Marian Rivera’s Marimar with Angel Locsin’s Darna. Marimar is Marian’s very first primetime series so for the sake of comparison, we should also use Angel’s very first primetime series which is Mulawin. And the pilot episode of Mulawin registered 33.0% last August 02, 2004.

So this i must say, Marimar fared really good last night but not impressive.

August 13, 2007 (Monday) Mega Manila Ratings:

SiS 12.7% vs. Boy and Kris 12.2%
Foxy Lady 15.5% vs. Pilipinas, Game Ka Na Ba? 20.7%
Eat Bulaga 23.2% vs. Wowowee 18.8%
Daisy Siete 20.2% vs. Inocente De Ti 13.6%
Pati Ba Pintig ng Puso 20.4% Kung Mahawi Man ang Ulap 17% vs. Pinoy Movie Hits 15.4%
Lovers in Prague 11.3% Meteor Garden 20.2% vs. Margarita 14.1%
24 Oras 29.2% vs. TV Patrol 24.7%
Mga Mata ni Anghelita 35.7% vs. Kokey 25.1%
Lupin 36% vs. Ysabella 26.5%
Marimar 36.6% vs. Kapamilya Deal or No Deal 26.5%
Impostora 33.9% vs. Walang Kapalit 21.1%
Jumong 30% vs. Sineserye Presents: Natutulog ba ang Diyos? 16.1%
Kung Ako Ikaw 16.3% vs. Bandila 10.7%

JAKARTA, Aug. 10 (AP) - (Kyodo)—Muslims protested as Miss Universe 2007, Riyo Mori from Japan, arrived in an Indonesian city Friday, calling her "a symbol of universal immorality," a Jakarta-based private radio station reported.
According to the Elshinta radio station, about 50 Muslims staged the protest in front of Savoy Homann Hotel in the West Java provincial capital of Bandung, where Mori is staying.

The protesters carried posters saying, "Miss Universe, Go to Hell!" and "Free Indonesia from Pornography!"

Syaiful Abdullah, chairman of the Bandung branch of the hard-line Muslim organization Islamic Defenders' Front, said beauty should not been exploited because that would be "immoral and sinful."

In 1990s, Indonesia, a predominantly Muslim nation, banned women from participating in a Miss Universe pageant on grounds that the pageant's swimsuit contest is not in line with Islamic values.

Despite the ban, the Miss Indonesia organizing committee has been sending the country's beauty queens to the pageant since 2005 without being punished by the government of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.

Since Aug. 2, Mori has been in Indonesia on a 10-day visit arranged by the Miss Universe Organization and the Miss Indonesia organizing committee for charity activity.

4 WIVES

Once upon a time there was a rich King who had four wives.

He loved the 4th wife the most and adorned her with rich robes and treated her to the finest of delicacies. He gave her nothing but the best.

He also loved the 3rd wife very much and was always showing her off to neighboring kingdoms. However, he feared that one day she would leave him for another.

He also loved his 2nd wife. She was his confi dant and was always kind, considerate and patient with him.

Whenever the King faced a problem, he could confide in her, and she would help him get through the difficult times.

The King's 1st wife was a very loyal partner and had made great contributions in maintaining his wealth and kingdom. However, he did not love the first wife. Although she loved him deeply, he hardly took notice of her!

One day, the King fell ill and he knew his time was short. He thought of his luxurious life and wondered, I now have four wives with me, but when I die, I'll be all alone."

Thus, he asked the 4th wife , "I loved you the most, endowed you with the finest clothing and showered great care over you. Now that I'm dying, will! You follow me and keep me company?"

"No way!", replied the 4th wife, and she walked away without another word.

Her answer cut like a sharp knife right into his heart.

The sad King then asked the 3rd wife, "I loved you all my life. Now that I'm dying, will you follow me and keep me company?"

"No!", replied the 3rd wife. "Life is too good! When you die, I'm going to remarry!"

His heart sank and turned cold.

He then asked the 2nd wife, "I have always turned to you for help and you've always been there for me. When I die, will you follow me and keep me company?"

"I'm sorry, I can't help you out this time!", replied the 2nd wife. "At the very most, I can only walk with you to your grave." Her answer struck him like a bolt of lightning, and the King was devastated.

Then a voice called out: "I'll go with you. I'll follow you no matter where you go."

The King looked up, and there was his first wife. She was very skinny as she suffered from malnutrition and neglect.

Greatly grieved, the King said, "I should have taken much better care of you when I had the chance!"

In truth, we all have the 4 wives in our lives:

Our 4th wife is our body. No matter how much time and effort we lavish in making it look good, it will leave us when we die.

Our 3rd wife is our possessions, status and wealth. When we die, it will all go to others.

Our 2nd wife is our family and friends. No matter how much they have been there for us, the furthest they can stay by us is up to the grave.

And our 1st wife is our Soul. Often neglected in pursuit of wealth, power and pleasures of the world. However, our Soul is the only thing that will follow us wherever we go.

Cultivate, strengthen and cherish it now, for it is the only part of us that will follow us to the throne of God and continue with us throughout Eternity.

Thought for the day:
Remember, when the world pushes you to your knees, you're in the perfect position to pray.

Being happy doesn't mean everything's perfect.

It means you've decided to see beyond the imperfections!

"Sperm are fast and as cute as tadpoles. They have chubby teardrop heads and stylish, tapering tails, and they glide, slither, bumble and do figure-eights. So while a father may not be entitled to take the same pride in his sperm as he does in his kids, it’s fair to celebrate the single-minded cellular commas that helped give those children their start."

Got an endearing text message today that greeted all motherfuckers, which of course all fathers are. No one though likes to think of their own parents having sex, but face it: that's what happened.

What might be less torturous and more interesting to dwell on on Fathers' Day are the mechanics of fatherhood and those indispensable ingredients for procreation, sperm.

Actually, with the spread of sperm banks and the rise of female income, fathers may one day become dispensable. But sperm (singular and plural are the same)... they're probably here to stay. Yet maybe not: I read a scary book years ago called The Stolen Future about the threats that all the chemicals in our environment are posing to the sperm counts of mammals and even to the penis size of a wide variety of animals, including crocodiles.

AGA MUHLACH'S ABS : REAL or PHOTOSHOPPED????

PIME missionary, PIME missionary, Fr Giancarlo Bossi, abducted in Mindanao
The missionary has worked for almost 30 years on the Mindanao Island where Muslim guerrillas have been battling the army for the island’s autonomy.

Manila (AsiaNews) – Fr Giancarlo Bossi, a 57-year-old missionary with the Pontifical Institute for Foreign Missions (PIME), was abducted morning of June 10, 2007 by armed men in the coastal village of Bulawan, near Zamboanga (Mindanao), Fr Gianni Sandalo, superior of the PIME mission in the Philippines, reported. According to police, members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), a group fighting for the Mindanao’s independence from the Philippines, might be responsible. Until this date, July 1, 2007, Fr. Gian Bossi is still in the hands of the kidnappers, undetermined whereabouts. Military in rigid search until dis time.

Except for a stay in Italy in 1996-1999, Father Giancarlo has been working in Mindanao since 1980.

He was appointed to the parish of Payao near Zamboanga only two months ago.

According to preliminary evidence he was abducted as he made his way to a nearby chapel to celebrate mass.

Zamboanga police think that he was spirited away by boat but is still in the area. The coastline in the area is very jagged with many coves and hideaways.

Father Bossi is the second Italian priest kidnapped in the area. In 2001 Fr Giuseppe Pierantoni was abducted and released several months later.

Filipino jihadists send text messages to wife of Marine they killed "Can we be friends?" Perhaps he viewed her as the spoils of war, after the example of Muhammad and his companions, who seized the wives of the men they had killed in jihad wars.

"Killers swapped messages with wife of marine," from the SunStar (thanks to Weasel Zippers):

AFTER her husband Marine Private First Class Reuben S. Doronio Jr. was killed in an ambush in Basilan last July 10, Jomarie Doronio received several text messages from her husband’s killers. One of them asked if he could befriend her. The others inquired about her well-being.

Either way, she could only feel disgust at their attempt to add insult to injury.

The communication began on the day her husband was killed, Jomarie said.

“Pasensya ka na. Nabalitaan naming napatay na ang mister nyo (We’re sorry. We heard that your husband has been killed),” was the text message she received from her husband’s cellular phone number.

“Bastos”

She and her sister-in-law Honeylee called the number but nobody answered.

The next day, the military camp in Basilan confirmed that Reuben was among the 14 marines killed in the encounter with Moro Islamic Liberation Front rebels. They had been scouring the jungles for the kidnapped Italian priest, Fr. Giancarlo Bossi, when they were attacked.

Ten of them were beheaded, including her husband, while some of the soldiers had their genitals cut off.

The mutilations spark-ed outrage across the country.

The two women called the acts “bastos” (barbaric).

Honeylee said the rebels again sent 10 more text messages to Jomarie, still using her brother’s number.

One of them was, “Puwede ba makigpag-kaibigan (Can we be friends)?”

Honeylee said the sender might have fallen for Jomarie after he saw her picture on her husband’s phone.

“Naibog gyud na nimo (He must like you),” Honeylee told Jomarie.

The messages only stopped when Honeylee told them, through text message, “One day, you will also suffer the pain we have at present.”

ahhh, pag-ibig! o, magpakatotoo, iwasan ang ideyalismo. alam na nating lahat kung ano ang dapat. ang nais nating malaman e kung ano ang iyong masasabi based from experience, may not be your own. malay mo, your input might save a relationship.

...so pano, simulan ko na?

how do you differentiate "love" from "being in love"? (i.e. i love you; i am in love with you) so, if somebody tells you "i think i love you but i'm not in love with you", how would you make that person feel otherwise?

PRAISING THE GOOD

A man and his girlfriend were married. It was a large celebration. All of their friends and family came to see the lovely ceremony and to partake of the festivities and celebrations. A wonderful time was had by all. The bride was g orgeous in her white wedding gown and the groom was very dashing in his black tuxedo. Everyone could tell that the love they had for each other was true.

A few months later, the wife comes to the husband with a proposal: "I read in a magazine, a while ago, about how we can strengthen our marriage." she offered. "Each of us will write a list of the things that we find a bit annoying with the other person. Then, we can talk about how we can fix them together and make our lives happier together."
The husband agreed. So each of them went to a separate room in the house and thought of the things that annoyed them about the other. They thought about this question for the rest of the day and wrote down what they came up with.

The next morning, at the breakfast table, they decided that they would go over their lists. "I'll start," offered the wife. She took out her list. It had many items on it. Enough to fill 3 pages, in fact. As she started reading the list of the little annoyances, she noticed that tears were starting to appear in her husband's eyes. "What's wrong?" she asked. "Nothing" the husband replied, "keep reading your list." The wife continued to read until she had read all three pages to her husband. She neatly placed her list on the table and folded her hands over top of it.

"Now, you read your list and then we'll talk about the things on both of our lists." She said happily. Quietly the husband stated, "I don't have anything on my list. I think that you are perfect the way that you are. I don't want you to change anything for me. You are lovely and wonderful and I wouldn't want to try and change anything about you."

The wife, touched by his honesty and the depth of his love for her and his acceptance of her, turned her head and wept.

In life, there are enough times when we are disappointed, depressed and annoyed. We don't really have to go looking for them. We have a wonderful world that is full of beauty, light and promise. Why waste time in this world looking for the bad, disappointing or annoying when we can look around us, and see the wondrous things before us? I believe that we
are happiest when we see and praise the good and try our best to forget the bad.

CANCEROUS FOODS / PRODUCTS

SATAY LOVERS (BARBECUE)
If you all eat Satay, don't ever forget to eat the cucumber, because eating Satay together with carbon after barbequing can cause cancer.
But we have a cure for that... Cucumber should be eaten after we eat the Satay because Satay has carcinogen (a cancer causing element) but cucumber is anti-carcinogenic. So don't forget to eat the cucumber the next time you have Satay's.

PRAWNS (SUGPO) & VIT C
DO NOT eat shrimp / prawn if you have just taken VITAMIN C pills!!
This will cause you to DIE in ARSENIC (As) toxication within HOURS!!

PORK AWA RENE SS
Try this and see whether the pork you bought has worms. There goes with your "Bak Kut Teh" for those who love it. Most men love to eat this so watch out before it's too late. If you pours Coke (yes, the soda) on a slab of pork, wait a little while, you will SEE WORMS crawl out of it. A message from the Health Corporation of Singapore about the bad effects of pork consumption. Pig's bodies contain MANY TOXINS, WORM and LATENT DISEASES.

Although some of these infestations are harboured in other animals, modern veterinarians say that pigs are far MORE PREDISPOSED to these illnesses than other animals. This could be because PIGS like to SCAVENGE and will eat ANY kind of food, INCLUDING dead insects, worms, rotting carcasses, excreta including their own, garbage, and other pigs. INFLUENZA (flu) is one of the MOST famous illnesses which pigs share with humans. This illness is harboured in the LUNGS of pigs during the summer months and tends to affect pigs and human in the cooler months.

Sausage contains bits of pigs' lungs, so those who EAT pork sausage tend to SUFFER MORE during EPIDEMICS of INFLUENZA. Pig meat contains EXCESSIVE quantities of HISTAMINE and IMIDAZOLE compounds, which can lead to ITCHING and INFLAMMATION; GROWTH HORMONE which PROMOTES INFLAMMATION and growth; sulphur containing mesenchymal mucus which leads to SWELLING and deposits of MUCUS in tendons and cartilage, resulting in ATHRITIS, RHEUMATISM, etc.
Sulphur helps cause FIRM human tendons and ligaments to be replaced by the pig's soft mesenchymal tissues, and degeneration of human cartilage.

Eating pork can also lead to GALLSTONES and OBESITY, probably due to its HIGH CHOLESTEROL and SATURATED FAT content. The pig is the MAIN CARRIER of the TAENIE SOLIUM WORM, which is found in its flesh. These tapeworms are found in human intestines with greater frequency in nations where pigs are eaten. This type of tapeworm can pass through the intestines and affect many other organs, and is incurable once it reaches beyond a certain stage. One in six people in the US and Canada has RIC HINOSIS from eating trichina worms, which are found in pork.

Many people have NO SYMPTOMS to warm them of this, and when they do, they resemble symptoms of many other illnesses. These worms are NOT noticed during meat inspections.

SHAMPOO
Cancer-causing substance in shampoos. Go home and check your shampoo. Change before it's too late... Check the ingredients listed on your shampoo bottle, and see they have a substance by the name of Sodium Laureth Sulfate, or simply SLS. This substance is found in most shampoos; manufacturers use it because it produces a lot of foam and it is cheap. BUT the fact is, SLS is used to scrub garage floors, and it is very strong!!! It is also proven that it can cause cancer in the long run, and this is no joke. Shampoos that contains SLS: Vo5, Palmolive, Paul Mitchell, L'Oreal, the new Hemp Shampoo from Body Shop etc. contain this substance.

The first ingredient listed (which means it is the single most prevalent ingredient) in Clairol's Herbal Essences is Sodium Laureth Sulfate. Therefore, I called one company, and I told them their product contains a substance that will cause people to have cancer. They said, Yeah we knew about it but there is nothing we can do about it because we need that substance to produce foam. By the way Colgate toothpaste also contains the same substance to produce the "bubbles". They said they are going to send me some information.

Research has shown that in the 1980s, the chance of getting cancer is 1 out of 8000 and now, in the 1990s, the chances of getting cancer is 1 out of 3, which is very serious. Therefore, I hope that you will take this seriously and pass this on to all the people you know, and hopefully, we can stop "giving" ourselves cancer-causing agents.

INSTANT NOODLES
Dear instant noodle lovers,
Make sure you break for at least 3 days after one session of instant noodles before you eat your next packet! Please read the info shared to me by a doctor. My family stopped eating instant noodles more than 5 years ago after hearing about the wax coating the noodles - the wax is not just in the Styrofoam containers but it coats the noodles. This is why the instant noodles do not stick to each other when cooking.

If one were to examine the ordinary Chinese yellow noodles in the market, one will notice that, in their uncooked state the noodles are oily. This layer of oil prevents the noodles from sticking together.

Wanton noodles in their uncooked state have been dusted with flour to prevent them sticking together. When the hawker cooks the noodles, notice he cooks them in hot water and then rinses them in cold water before cooking them in hot water again. This process is repeated several times before the noodles are ready to be served. The cooking and rinsing process prevents noodles from sticking together.

The hawker then "lowers the noodles in oil and sauce to prevent the noodles from sticking if they are to be served dry. Cooking instructions for spaghetti require oil or butter to be added in the water when boiling the spaghetti to prevent the pasta from sticking together. Otherwise, one gets a big clump of spaghetti!

There was an SBC (now TCS) actor some years ago, who at a busy time of his career had no time to cook, resorted to eating instant noodles everyday. He got cancer later on. His doctor told him about the wax in instant noodles. The doctor told him that our body will need up to 2 days to clear the wax. There was also an SIA steward who after moving out from his mother's house into his own house, did not cook but ate instant noodles almost every meal. He had cancer, and has since died from it.

Nowadays the instant noodles are referred as "cancer noodles".

"The Son of God is the Sun of God. The gospel story reflects millennia of sun worship found around the globe."

"Sun worship has been the
predominant form of religion
for several thousand years.
When seeking the origins of
religion in general, the solar
religion cannot be ignored but must be factored in at nearly every turn..

I WILL SING FOREVER Song Lyrics
BUKAS PALAD

I will sing forever of Your love, O Lord
I will celebrate the wonder of Your name
For the word that You speak is a song of forgiveness
And a song of gentle mercy and of peace

Let us wake at the morning and be filled with Your love
And sing songs of praise all our days
For Your love is as high as the heavens above us
And Your faithfulness as certain as the dawn

I will sing forever of Your love, O Lord
I will celebrate the wonder of Your name
For the word that You speak is a song of forgiveness
And a song of gentle mercy and of peace

I will sing forever of Your love, O Lord
For You are my refuge and my strength
You fill the world with Your life-giving spirit
That speaks Your word
Your word of mercy and of peace

CODA:
And I will sing forever of Your love, O Lord
Yes I will sing forever of Your love, O Lord

ANIMA CHRISTI Song Lyrics
BUKAS PALAD

Soul of Christ
Sanctify me
Body of Christ save me
Water from the side of Christ
Wash me, Passion of Christ
Give me strength

Chorus:
Hear me Jesus
Hide me in thy wounds
That I may never leave thy side
From all the evil that surrounds me
Defend me and when the call of death arrives
Bid me come to thee
That I may praise thee
With thy saints forever

(Repeat Chorus)

TANGING YAMAN Song Lyrics
BUKAS PALAD

CHORUS
Ikaw ang aking tanging yaman
Na ‘di lubusang masumpungan
Ang nilikha mong kariktan
Sulyap ng ‘yong kagandahan

Ika’y hanap sa t’wina
Nitong pusong ikaw lamang ang saya
Sa ganda ng umaga
Nangungulila sa ‘yo, sinta

[Repeat CHORUS]

Ika’y hanap sa t’wina
Sa kapwa ko kita laging nadarama
Sa iyong mga likha
Hangad pa ring masdan ang ‘yong mukha

[Repeat CHORUS]

Artist: Bukas Palad
Song: One more gift
Album:
[" " CD]

One more gift
Refrain:
If there’s one more gift
I’d ask of you,
Lord it would be peace here on earth
as gentle as your children’s laughter
All around, all around

Verse 1:
Your people have grown weary
Of living in confusion
When will we realize
That neither heaven is at peace
When we will live not in peace
(Refrain)

Verse 2:
Grant me serenity within
For the confusions around
Are mere reflections..
Of what’s within..
What’s within in me?
(Refrain)

Subject: MEN VS. WOMEN.... Check this out!!!!

Author:
Rennel

(DSL-DVO-NBAS173.BTI.NET.PH/203.115.174.173)

MEN vs Women

Some differences…

ADMITTING MISTAKES:
Women will sometimes admit making a mistake.
The last man who admitted he was wrong was General George Custer.

ARGUMENTS:
A woman has the last word in any argument.
Anything a man says after that is the beginning of a new argument.

BATHROOMS:
A man has six items in his bathroom: a toothbrush, toothpaste, shaving cream, razor, a bar of Dial soap, and a towel from the Holiday Inn.
The average number of items in the typical woman's bathroom is 437. A man would not be able to identify most of these items.

Most men take only 2-3 minutes to relieve themselves.
Women's Restrooms always have long lines.

CAMERAS:
Men take photography very seriously. They'll shell out $4000 for state of the art equipment, and build dark rooms and take photography classes.
Women purchase Kodak Instamatics. Of course, women always end up taking better pictures.

CATS:
Women love cats.
Men say they love cats, but when women aren't looking, men kick cats.

CHEERLEEDERS:
Female cheerleaders are cute, sexy, fresh, and all-American.
Male cheerleaders are scary.

COMEDY:
Let's say a small group of men and women are in a room, watching television, and an episode of the Three Stooges comes on. Immediately, the men will get very excited; they will laugh uproariously, and even try to imitate the actions of Curly, man's favorite Stooge.
The women will roll their eyes and groan and wait it out.

DAVID LETTERMAN:
Men think David Letterman is the funniest man on the face of the Earth.
Women think he is a mean, semi-dorky guy who always has a bad haircut.

DIRECTIONS:
If a woman is out driving, and she finds herself in unfamiliar surroundings, she will stop at a gas station and ask for directions.
Men consider this to be a sign of weakness. Men will never stop and ask for directions. Men will drive in a circle for hours, all the while saying things like, "Looks like I've found a new way to get there." and, "I know I'm in the general neighborhood. I recognize that 7-11 store."

DRESSING UP:
A woman will dress up to: go shopping, water the plants, empty the garbage, answer the phone, read a book, get the mail.
A man will dress up for: weddings, funerals.

EATING OUT:
When the check comes, Mike, Dave, Rob and Jack will each throw in $20 bills, even though it's only for $22.50. None of them will have anything smaller, and none will actually admit they want change back.
When the girls get their check, out come the pocket calculators.

GARAGES:
Women use garages to park their cars and store their lawnmowers.
Men use garages for many things. They hang license plates in garages, they watch TV in garages, and they build useless lopsided benches in garages.

GOING OUT:
When a man says he is ready to go out, it means he is ready to go out.
When a woman says she is ready to go out, it means she **will** be ready to go out, as soon as she finds her earring, finishes putting on her makeup...

GROCERIES:
A woman makes a list of things she needs and then goes to the store and buys these things.
A man waits till the only items left in his fridge are half a lime and a beer. Then he goes grocery shopping. He buys everything that looks good. By the time a man reached the checkout counter, his cart is packed tighter that the Clampett's car on Beverly Hillbillies. Of course, this will not stop him from going to the 10-items-or-less lane.

HANDWRITING:
To their credit, men do not decorate their penmanship. They just chicken-scratch.
Women use scented, colored stationary and they dot their "i's" with circles and hearts. Women use ridiculously large loops in their "p's" and "g's". It is a royal pain to read a note from a woman. Even when she's dumping you, she'll put a smiley face at the end of the note.

HATS:
Women look good in hats.
Men look like idiots.

JEWELRY:
Women look nice when they wear jewelry.
A man can get away with wearing one ring and that's it. Any more than that, and he will look like a lounge singer named Vic.

LAUNDRY:
Women do laundry every couple of days.
A man will wear every article of clothing he owns, including his surgical pants that were hip about eight years ago, before he will do his laundry. When he is finally out of clothes, he will wear a dirty sweatshirt inside out, rent a U-Haul, and take his mountain of clothes to the laundromat. Men always expect to meet beautiful women at the laundromat. This is a myth perpetuated by re-runs of old episodes of "Love, American Style."

LEG WARMERS:
Leg warmers are sexy. A woman, even if she's walking the dog or doing the dishes, is allowed to wear leg warmers. She can wear them any time she wants.
A man can only wear leg warmers if he is auditioning for the "Gimme the Ball" number in "A Chorus Line."

LOW BLOWS:
Let's say a man and woman are watching a boxing match on TV. One of the boxers is felled by a low blow.
The woman says "Oh, gee. That must have hurt."
The man groans and doubles over, and actually *feels* the pain.

MAGAZINES:
Men's magazines often feature pictures of naked women.
Women's magazines also feature pictures of naked women. This is because the female body is a beautiful work of art, while the male body is lumpy and hairy and should not be seen by the light of day. Men are turned on at the sight of a naked woman's body. Most naked men elicit laughter from women.

MATURITY:
Women mature much faster than men. Most 17-year-old females can function as adults.
Most 17-year-old males are still trading baseball cards and giving each other wedgies after gym class. This is why high school romances rarely work out.

MENOPAUSE:
When a woman reaches menopause, she goes through a variety of complicated emotional, psychological, and biological changes. The nature and degree of these changes varies with the individual.
Menopause in a man provokes a uniform reaction; he buys aviator glasses, a snazzy French cap and leather driving gloves, and goes shopping for a Porsche.

MIRRORS:
Men are vain; they will always check themselves out in a mirror.
Women are ridiculous; they will check out their reflections in any shiny surface: mirrors, spoons, store windows, toasters, Joe Garagiola's head.

MONEY
A man will pay $2 for a $1 item he wants.
A woman will pay $1 for a $2 item that she doesn't want.

MOUSTACHES:
Some men look good with moustaches. Those men are Tom Selleck and Burt Reynolds.
There are no women who look good with moustaches.

MOVIES:
For women, their favorite movie scene is when Clark Gable kisses Vivien Leigh for the first time in "Gone With the Wind".
For men, it's when Jimmy Cagney shoves grapefruit in May Clark's face in "Public Enemy".

NICKNAMES:
With the exception of female body builders, who call each other names like "Ultimate Pecs" and "Big Turk," women eschew the use of nicknames. If Gloria, Suzanne, Deborah, and Michelle get together for lunch, they will call each other Gloria, Suzanne, Deborah, and Michelle.
But if Mike, Dave, Rob, and Jack go out for a brewsky, they will affectionately refer to each other as Bullet-Head, Godzilla, Peanut-Brain, and Useless.

OFFSPRING:
Ah, children. A woman knows all about her children. She knows about dentist appointments and soccer games and romances and best friends and favorite foods and secret fears and hopes and dreams.
A man is vaguely aware of some short people living in the house. Every year, men have to be reminded of his children's birthdays.

PLANTS:
A woman asks a man to water her plants while she is on vacation.
The man waters the plants.
The woman comes home five or six days later to an apartment full of dead plants. No one knows why this happens.

POLITICS:
Men love to talk politics, but often they forget to do political things such as voting.
Women are very happy that another generation of Kennedy's is growing up and getting into politics because they will be able to campaign for them and cry on election night.

RELATIONSHIPS:
First of all, a man does not call it a relationship. He refers to it as a romance, or a period of dating, of going out, or in some unfortunate circumstances "that time when Suzie and I were doing it on a semi- regular basis."

When a relationship ends, a woman will cry and pour her heart out to her girlfriends, and she will write a poem titled "All Men Are Idiots". Then she will get on with her life.
A man has a little more trouble letting go. Six months after the break-up, at 3:00 a.m. on a Saturday night, he will call and say, "I just wanted to let you know you ruined my life, and I'll never forgive you, and I hate you, and you're a total floozy. But I want you to know that there's always a chance for us".

This is known as the "I Hate You / I Love You" drunken phone call, that 99% if all men have made at least once. There are community colleges that offer courses to help men get over this need; alas, these classes rarely prove effective.

RESTROOMS:
Men use restrooms for purely biological reasons.
Women use restrooms as social lounges.

Men in a restroom will never speak a word to each other.
Women who've never met will leave a restroom giggling together like old friends. And never in the history of the world has a man excused himself from a restaurant table by saying, "Hey, Bob, I was just about to take a leak. Do you want to join me?"

RICHARD GERE:
Women like Richard Gere because he is sexy in a dangerous way. Men hate Richard Gere because he reminds them of that slick guy who works at the health club and dates only married women.
Madonna: Same as above, but reversed. Same reason.

SHOES:
When preparing for work, a woman will put on a Mondi wool suit, and then slip on Reebok sneakers. She will carry her dress shoes in a plastic bag from Saks. When a woman gets to work, she will put on her dress shoes. Five minutes later she will kick them off because her feet are under the desk.
A man will wear the same pair of shoes all day.

SOCKS:
Men wear sensible socks. They wear standard white sweatsocks.
Women wear strange socks. Socks that are cut way below the ankles, that have pictures of clouds on them, that have a big fuzzy ball on the back.

SPORTS ARENAS:
Simply put, men can always find their way around stadiums and arenas.
The women usually end up following men.

SEX:
Women prefer 30 to 45 minutes of foreplay. Men prefer 30 to 45 seconds of foreplay, less if at all possible.
For the man, driving back to her place is considered part of foreplay.

TELEPHONE:
Men see the telephone as a communication tool. They use the telephone to send short messages to other people.
A woman can visit her girlfriend for two weeks , and upon returning home, she will call the same friend and they will talk for three hours.

TOYS:
Little girls love to play with toys. Then when they reach the age of 11 or 12, they lose interest.
Men never grow out of their obsession with toys. As they get older, their toys simply become more expensive and silly and impractical. Examples of men's toys: little miniature TV's, car phones, complicated juicers and blenders, graphic equalizers, small robots that serve cocktails on command, video games, anything that blinks, beeps, and requires at least 6 "D" batteries to operate.
However, the only toys women still keep around when they grow up still require batteries, only few in number and smaller in size.

UNDERWEAR:
Colored underwear. Women are allowed, in fact encouraged, to wear colored underwear.
There is no reason for a man to ever, ever, wear anything besides solid white.

WEDDINGS:
When reminiscing about weddings, women talk about "the ceremony".
Men talk about "the bachelor party".

Thought for the day the Saturday 7 of July 2007

"It is their nature that stimulates human beings – women especially, but men as well – to strive for physical beauty. But if they are to succeed in this they must also develop qualities of the soul and spirit. Have you noticed how, under the influence of a noble sentiment, faces that are normally devoid of beauty are suddenly transfigured? This is because the movements of our inner life act on our nerves and muscles.
Those who manage to live often in spiritual states gradually transform their face, while women who are preoccupied with their beauty out of a desire to oust a rival only make themselves ugly. The emotions of possessiveness, jealousy and hate are more powerful than any creams, lotions and make-up they may use. Of course, the use of certain beauty products is not to be condemned, but even if you want to improve your physical appearance you must give priority to your inner life."

HAND IN HAND LYRICS

FROM THE MOUNTAINS OF SNOW,
TO TH SEAS DOWN BELOW
ONLY ONE SPIRIT ECHOES IN OUR SOUL

WE'RE GIVE JOY WE'RE MAKE PEACE
ASIAS YOUTH,WE MARCH
HERE WE COME AS WE SHARE OUR BURNING DREAMS

STRONG AND READY,WE MOVE ON
WE ALL SHARE ON DISTINY
DIFFERENT FACE,WE SHALL FACE LIFE ALL AS ONE

WE FORGIVE,WE WILL PRAISE
WE'RE SPREAD LIFE AND LOVE
FULL OF HOPE,WE'RE BREAK DOWN
DIVIDING WALLS.....
CHO...
TOGETHER NOW AND HAND IN HAND ONE IN HEARTS
LET US WALK OUR PATH WITH JESUS
FEEL HIS LOVE AND HIS WORDS
MOVING TO THE NEW GENERATION
ITS OUR TIME LET US LEAVE OUR VISION
LETS TELL THE WORLD REJOICE
THE LORD IS WITH OUR SONG

WE'VE HEARED HIS CALL
LETS LOVE OUR FRIENDS AND ENEMIES
WE SHOULD THE WAY AS HE GIVE HIS ONLY
SON FOR US
LET SHARE THE DREAMS,MOVING ONWARD
AS ONE FAMILY
LIGHT UP THE FIRE,LIFT UP UR HEART
AND CELEBRATES

Dapat ang motto ng mga kandidato ay "MAG KURAP MUNA SA BAYAN" hindi yung "MAG LINGKOD SA BAYAN"

Pero yung kay MIMI at kay LOLA NILA ganito "MAG LINGKOD SA BAYAG" HA HA HA aayyyy mali!! HI HI HI HI pala

THE NORTH SWELL SEASON BEGINS IN SIARGAO

Calling all surfers, surf fans, and beach bums out there! The winds are changing. The south swell has come and gone. The northerly winds of Amihan are picking up. And the swell is building along with the excitement! The 2006 surf circuit which took a break after the 10th Aurora Cup is picking up again with its second leg in picturesque Siargao island, hailed as the surfing capital of the Philippines. This year marks the 2nd year of the Smart Philippine Surfing Championship Tour which kicked off in Baler, Aurora last February. The second leg, the 8th Siargao National Surfing Cup is slated for September 14 to 18 at Cloud 9.

This year marks a decade of the surf industry in Siargao. As the years have passed, breaks on the island have grown in popularity. The right-handed barrels of Cloud 9 have become synonymous to Siargao. From the first International and National competitions in 1996 and 1997 respectively, Siargao Island is now THE destination to go to for a world-class surf experience.

What started out small dry run event is now a tradition where Filipino surfers use Cloud 9 and Siargao as the measuring stick to test their skills against the best local Filipino surfers and international professional surfers.

Much of the success of these events can be credited to the hard work of the local government of General Luna, which has been a staunch supporter of the growing surf scene. The local surfers as well have benefited from the tourism that the industry has drawn to the island. And, in the last year and a half the Philippine Surf Federation has stepped up to cultivate and create a truly Filipino surfer athlete through the Philippine Surfing Championship Tour.

The 8th Siargao National Surfing Cup will give surfers from all over the Philippines the opportunity to win cash prizes, and compete against the most seasoned Filipino wave riders. A total of Php200,000 is up for grabs this year as the most anticipated leg of the surf season kicks-off.

To bring more color to the event, nightly tropical beat disco with live-band, bikini open, free surfing clinic, island tour, and battle of the bands will be among the exciting features. Another highlight of this festivity is the Siargao Girls Beach Volleyball (inter-school /university) which is open to all interested teams.

Immediately following the national competition is an International surfing competition from September 25 to October 1 where the Top Twelve local surfers will be seeded into the international heats. Alongside their countrymen will be four wild cards - locals who will go through the gruelling qualifying rounds to secure a slot in the internationals - bringing the total to 16 Filipinos competing in a much-anticipated international event.

Brought to you by the Philippine Surfing Federation, the Department of Tourism, Smart Communications, Inc., the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation, the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, San Miguel Corporation, Asian Spirit Airlines, Maui and Sons Company, the local surfing associations and the Provincial and Local Government Units of General Luna, Siargao island.

Brothers and Sisters SOMEONE SENT ME THIS CHAIN E-MAIL. VERY EYE-OPENING

Sa pagdiriwang ng ating ika 109 taon ng kalayaan...Mabuhay
ang
Pilipino!

(In celebrating our 109th Declaration of Independence...Long Live the
Filipinos!)

A Day Without Filipinos

Let's imagine then, not just California, but the entire world, waking
up
one day to discover Filipinos have disappeared. I'm talking here about
the
six or seven million Filipinos currently working overseas in countries
with names that run the entire alphabet, from Angola to Zimbabwe.

Let's not worry first about why or how the Filipinos disappeared; in
fact,
it becomes academic whether it's a day or a week. Just imagine a world
without Filipinos.

Think of the homes that are dependent on Filipino housekeepers,
nannies,
caregivers. The homes would be chaotic as kids cry out for their
nannies.
Hong Kong and Singaporean and Taiwanese yuppie couples are now forced
to
stay home and realizing, goodness, there's so much of housework that
has
to be handled and how demanding their kids can be and hey, what's this
strange language they're babbling in?

It's not just the children that are affected. The problems are even
more
serious with the elderly in homes and nursing institutions, because
Filipino caregivers have provided so much of the critical services they
need. When temporary contractual workers are brought in from among
non-Filipinos, the elderly complain. They want their Filipino
caregivers
back because they have that special touch, that extra patience and
willingness to stay an hour more when needed.

Hospitals, too, are adversely affected because so many of the
disappeared
Filipinos were physicians, nurses and other health professionals. All
appointments for rehabilitation services, from children with speech
problems to stroke survivors, are indefinitely postponed because of
disappeared speech pathologists, occupational and physical therapists!

Eventually, the hospital administrators announce they won't take in any
more patients unless the conditions are serious. Patients are told to
follow their doctors' written orders and, if they have questions, to
seek
advice on several Internet medical sites. But within two days, the
hospitals are swamped with new complaints. The web sites aren't working
because of missing Filipino web designers and web site managers.

Service establishments throughout the world -- restaurants,
supermarkets,
hotels -- all close down because of their missing key staff involved in
management and maintenance. In Asia, hotels complain about the missing
bands and singers.

In the United States, many commercial establishments have to close
shop,
not just because of the missing Filipino sales staff but because their
suppliers have all been sending in notices about delays in shipments.
Yup,
the shipping industry has gone into a crisis because of missing
Filipino
seafarers.

The shipping firms begin to look into the emergency recruitment of
non-Filipino seafarers but then declare another crisis: They're running
out of supplies of oil for their ships because the Middle Eastern
countries have come to a standstill without their Filipino workers,
including quite a few working for the oil industry.

Frantic presidents and prime ministers call on the United Nations to
convene a special session of the Security Council but Kofi Annan says
he
can't do that because the UN system itself is on the edge, with so many
of
their secretarial and clerical staff, as well as translators, having
disappeared from their main headquarters in New York and Geneva, as
well
as their regional offices throughout the world. Quite a number of UN
services, especially refugee camps, are also in danger of closing down
because of missing Filipino health professionals and teachers.

Annan also explains that he can't convene UN meetings because the
airports
in New York, Washington and other major US cities have been shut down.
The
reason? The disappeared Filipinos included quite a few airport security
personnel who used to check passengers and their baggage.

Annan calls on the World Bank and international private foundations for
assistance but they're crippled, too, because their Filipino
consultants
and staff are nowhere to be seen. Funds can't be remitted and projects
can't run without the technical assistance provided for by Filipinos.

An exasperated Annan calls on religious leaders to pray, and pray hard.
But when he phones the Pope, he is told the Catholic Church, too, is in
crisis because the disappeared include the many Filipino priests and
nuns
in Rome who help run day-to-day activities, as well as missionaries in
the
front lines of remote posts, often the only ones providing basic social
services.

As they converse, Annan and the Pope agreed on one thing: the world has
become a quieter place since the Filipinos disappeared. It isn't just
the
silencing of work and office equipment formerly handled by Filipinos;
no,
it seems there's much less laughter now that the Filipinos aren't
around,
both the laughter of the Filipinos and those they served.

I know, I know, I'm exaggerating the contributions of Filipinos to the
world but I'm doing what the producers of "A Day without Mexicans" had
in
mind: using a bit of hyperbole to shake people up.

As their blurb for the film goes: "How do you make the invisible,
visible?
Make them invisible."

---
As I wrote this column, I did realize I was doing this not so much for
the
Hong Kong Chinese and Taiwanese and Singaporeans and Americans who
don't
appreciate us enough, than for us, who as Filipinos, are pretty good at
putting ourselves down, at making ourselves invisible.

"Frog Story"

Author Unknown

A group of frogs were traveling through the woods and two of them fell into a deep pit. All the other frogs gathered around the pit. When they saw how deep the pit was, they told the two frogs that they were as good as dead. The two frogs ignored the comments and tried to jump up out of the pit with all of their might. The other frogs kept telling them to stop, that they were as good as dead. Finally, one of the frogs took heed to what the other frogs were saying and gave up. He fell down and died.
The other frog continued to jump as hard as he could. Once again, the crowd of frogs yelled at him to stop the pain and just die. He jumped even harder and finally made it out.

When he got out, the other frogs said, "Did you not hear us?" The frog explained to them that he was deaf. He thought they were encouraging him the entire time.

This story teaches two lessons:
1.There is power of life and death in the tongue. An encouraging word to someone who is down can lift them up and help them make it through the day.
2.A destructive word to someone who is down can be what it takes to kill them. Be careful of what you say.
Speak life to those who cross your path. The power of words....it is sometimes hard to understand that an encouraging word can go such a long way. Anyone can speak words that tend to rob another of the spirit to continue in difficult times.Special is the individual who will take the time to encourage another. Be special to others.

work of art
I dedicate this story to Mayor Pons casurra and Sir Nitoy Matugas if you are reading this. The past few days have been tough but one mistake cannot bring two amazing men down! Be like the second frog, be deaf for the hateful words of discouragement because there are still good people who believe and support you! Kumbate..! Mayor Pons

Ruffa Gutierrez originally wed Richard Daloia in Vegas in 1999 so when she 'married' Ylmas Bektaz four years later, the latter 'marriage' wasn't legal, according to the Turkish oil billionaire. He is going to sue Ruffa for kidnapping their two American(-born) kids, according to www.GMANews.tv at:

http://www.gmanews.tv/story/45860/Yilmaz-to-Ruffa-Ill-put-you-back-to-the-garbage

From YILMAZ: "Lady Sharmaine Gutierrez, whatever it is you deserve, that will [be given] to you. I find you in the garbage and I put you back in the garbage. But still, I will find. I'm not gonna stop whatever I will gonna said. I'm gonna follow my mind, and your Mom and you, and this...I don't know the name yet, I'm gonna find out. I will tell you, each moment has its consequences. My words are not just for you, for your Mom, and whoever he's hiding himself, he's safe. I'm not gonna speak so much, but I will gonna move and take further actions."

Idinagdag din ni Yilmaz ang mensahe na ipinadala niya diumano kay Ruffa tatlong buwan na ang nakalilipas.

"Ruffa, please listen to me very carefully, end of this game. No winners and there is gonna be two losers."

By: Vinia Vivar

Are they really having an affair tulad ng palagay ng ilan?

BUTUAN CITY -- The Commission on Elections ordered the indefinite suspension of canvassing in Surigao del Norte on Saturday amid charges of massive vote-buying, electoral fraud and violence.

Joy Jonathan Sinaca, provincial election supervisor, Sunday said the order came from Comelec Chair Benjamin Abalos Sr.

Sinaca said Abalos had told them to hold the canvassing in abeyance pending the resolution of the case filed by Gov. Lyndon Barbers of Lakas-CMD, who ran in the congressional race against Tubod Mayor Guillermo Romarate of the Kabalikat ng Malayang Pilipino (Kampi).

Barbers accused Romarate of engaging in vote-buying, fraud and intimidation, particularly in the two contested towns of Tubod and Mainit.

Barbers also said Romarate used his private army to “prevent, coerce and threaten voters.”

Romarate, who was leading in the provincial tally, denied the allegations.

“The Comelec through Chairman Abalos ordered the suspension of canvassing in the whole province due to allegations of fraud and vote-buying,” Sinaca told the Philippine Daily Inquirer.

But Romarate said the suspension of the canvassing was very unusual and done without due process.

In a hastily-called press conference here Sunday, Romarate said the suspension order was arbitrary and was detrimental to the voters of the province.

“This order came without hearing or notice,” Romarate said.

He said Barbers was lying when he claimed that the elections were marred by irregularities.

“There was no [incident of] violence, fraud and vote-buying reported to the local election office and to the police,” Romarate said.

He said the order could be part of the “dirty legal maneuvering” employed by his rival to block his victory.

“The people of Surigao have already spoken. Barbers is very desperate and could not accept defeat so he’s doing this delaying tactic,” Romarate said of his former ally.

As of Saturday, Romarate continued to advance with 62,317 votes from 18 of the 20 areas of the province, including Surigao City, based on the National Citizens’ Movement for Free Elections (Namfrel) tally.

Barbers, who switched posts with his brother Rep. Ace Barbers, was trailing with 56,459 votes.

Sinaca said that pending the resumption of the provincial canvassing, no proclamation would be held even if there were no complaints affecting other candidates.

“Consequently, the proclamation of winners for the top positions in the province will have to be delayed,” he said. Franklin A. Caliguid, Inquirer Mindanao

MEXICO CITY - Many here south of the border reveled in her disastrous evening: First
Miss USA Rachel Smith slipped and fell on her bottom during the
Miss Universe evening gown competition. Then she was booed by hundreds in the Mexican audience.

The treatment of the Tennessee beauty queen was nothing personal. It had more to do with Mexico's sometimes tense relationship with its powerful northern neighbor.

U.S. athletes have sparked a similar response. In 2005, when the U.S. played Mexico during a World Cup soccer qualifier, the crowd booed the U.S. national anthem and a smattering of fans chanted "Osama! Osama!" during the game.

Smith was booed repeatedly during her stay in Mexico, including last week, when she carried a guitar and wore an Elvis-style suit during a parade of national costumes held in downtown Mexico City.

She kept her poise during an interview Monday night with pageant judges, despite the boos and chants of "Mexico! Mexico!" that drowned out her answer.

"I am very passionate about education and being in South Africa sparked my interest in that," said Smith, a journalism graduate who volunteered for a month at talk show host
Oprah Winfrey's Leadership Academy for Girls in South Africa.

Then she paused, smiled and spoke in Spanish. "Buenas noches Mexico. Muchas gracias!" which earned her some applause and some chuckles.

Miss Japan Riyo Mori, who went on to win the crown, opened her interview with "Hola Mexico!" to cheers and claps. Her personal trainer, Ines Ligron, said she had warned Mori about the importance of speaking in Spanish to win over the crowd.

Even an opening "hola" might not have helped Smith, who faced long odds for simply being a gringa.

U.S.-Mexico relations worsened in the past year after the U.S. National Guard was sent to the U.S.-Mexico border to assist the U.S. Border Patrol and help build hundreds of miles of wall to keep out illegal migrants.

Mexicans are also upset over a U.S. Senate proposal for a sweeping immigration reform bill that would limit the consideration of family ties, capping visas for foreign parents of U.S. citizens at 40,000 a year. The plan would change a system that favored family ties for four decades.

Many Mexicans also feel that the United States exerts its influence to tip the balance in its favor, whether in global politics or sports events.

On Tuesday, Mexican media lamented the fact that their contestant, Rosa Maria Ojeda, did not make it to the top five in the pageant while Smith did, despite falling down on the runway. Smith's fifth place finish only added to the theory that the United States always is favored.

The Mexican newspaper El Universal said Ojeda's fans were not as upset about her top-10 finish as they were that "the judges did not penalize that fact that Miss USA totally fell on her seat after she stepped on her dress."

The newspaper said that when the show went to a commercial break, an NBC representative warned the audience of 9,000 to behave because "this gives the world a bad image of Mexico."

Donald Trump, who co-owns the pageant, brushed off the ruckus as Mexicans' frustration with Washington politics.

Smith did not comment publicly after the contest. On Tuesday, she flew back to the United States.

Those who plan to run for public office in the future might find these useful. At least I know I will.

1. People will sell their right to choose for P300. Any amount higher and they’d give you their souls. Half of that right can also be acquired through the distribution of the following items: ballpens/pencils (hmm… perhaps because we’re nearing the opening of classes?), bath soaps (people like to take a bath more during summer?), detergents (taking a bath a lot leads to having a lot of laundry and thus, a greater demand for detergents), a kilo of rice (people are always hungry) and some other household commodities.

2. TV and Radio Ads are useless. Even Pichay can attest to that.

3. You actually need not go to campaign sorties if you have P15-25 million in the bag. (Read lesson number one for more details)

4. Be prepared to get junked by your party-mates especially when they feel you are about to go down.

5. Artista endorsements are no longer a factor although it would give you a false understanding of where you really stand since people will still flock your rallies.

6. If you decide to buy votes, do not in any way trust barangay captains or poll leaders. They will keep your money for themselves.

7. Sensible, realistic and good platforms are not necessary when campaigning. People will only listen to dumb jokes. Great flirting skills are an advantage.

8. Be prepared to learn whatever new dance Wowowee will teach. The people will inevitably ask you to do it.

9. Be sure to have contacts within the COMELEC.

10. Be nice to teachers. Yes, sometimes they cheat and your poll watchers may be too dumb to notice.

11. Do not in any way publicly bash your opponents. It will make them appear as underdogs and they might gain the people’s sympathy. Sympathy more often than not translates to votes. Philippine Idol results can attest to that.

12. If your opponent decides to bash you publicly, do not retaliate or appear defensive. Same reason as the above.

13. And lastly, if you do win keep 10% of your intelligence fund or pork barrel to yourself. You will need it for the next elections.

DENVER - Even her surgeon calls her a miracle. Shannon Malloy was critically injured Jan. 25 when a car crash slammed her into the dashboard. Her skull separated from her spine, although her skin, spinal cord and other internal organs remained intact.

The rare condition is known as clinically as internal decapitation, and it left her with no control over her head.

Her injuries left Malloy with nerve damage that made her eyes cross, and she has difficulty swallowing. She was not paralyzed. She told her story to Denver station KMGH-TV.

Dr. Gary Ghiselli, an orthopedic spine surgeon at the Denver Spine Center, said he and his colleagues had never seen such an injury in someone still living.

"I've seen it once before," Ghiselli said, "and, unfortunately, the patient didn't make it."

Even after the crash, physicians in Nebraska, where Malloy lives, told relatives they should prepare to say their goodbyes.

Ghiselli said a will to survive kept Malloy, 30, alive long enough for surgeons to insert screws in her head and neck and attach a halo to minimize movement — no easy task.

"My skull slipped off my neck about five times," Malloy said. "Every time they tried to screw this to my head, I would slip."

Doctors eventually stabilized her head and strengthened her neck. The halo has since been removed.

"It's a miracle that she was able to survive from the actual accident," Ghiselli said. "It's a miracle that she's made the progress that she's made."
