      • I also wanted to add that although white is an elegant colour, I think the design has to be out of this world for it to work since Egypt does not have sash factor. Last year, 21 delegates out of the 80 who competed wore white in the prelims with only 3 of these white gowns making the Top 15: Russia, South Africa, and USA (I am not counting Mexico because she wore bright yellow in the prelims). In 2007, only 2 delegates who made the Top 15 wore white in the prelims (Venezuela and Mexico). It can be seen that in the last two years, the prelim judges have been favouring bright colours a lot more so I hope Elham also brings a back-up gown in case she feels the need to opt for something bolder.     • I also think she looks great in that soft pink gown. It looks fabulous on her. However, lately at Miss Universe, there seems to be more focus on the dress rather than on "elegance" and "poise". Miss Colombia and Miss Venezuela's gowns last year were not the prettiest on them (they would have looked much better wearing other dresses in my opinion) yet, they were so theatrical that they scored 1st and 2nd in the gown competition respectively. • Miss Japan will be bringing at least 7 Versace evening gowns and her competition gown will be Gucci. On top of this she is also bringing Versace interview suits and casual wear. She even won an Audi car! Honestly, why on Earth would Emiri even want to win Miss Universe? Her Miss Japan prize package is worth more than the Miss Universe prize package x 5!   • I couldn't agree more! Ghada's dress looks so expensive and Nadia is the only Miss Egypt to ever wear red in competition. Red is such a striking colour on stage. I hope future Miss Egypts wear red. These couture dresses were indeed spectacular and they are so tasteful that I'm sure they could still be worn today in competition and score high marks! As a matter of fact, I think most of the semi-finalists' gowns worn in 1994 and 1995 could easily be worn today. Italy's hooded gown from 1994 is my all time favourite and I also love Miss Greece's mint green gown from the same year. The women of these two years had great fashion sense. • I think hosting a pageant in Egypt is not as easy as most people think. Major sponsors, participation by competitive ladies, and overall support by everyone is needed in order for any good pageant to be produced. Without even one of these elements, a pageant would not run smoothly, so I think Face2Face made the right decision to wait until all of these factors are in place. I'm actually quite proud of Face2Face for being the only organization in Egypt to host pageants and send Egyptian delegates abroad despite the backlash that they sometimes face.   • Since 2005, I felt that the biggest room for improvement that was needed for our Egyptian queens at Miss Universe was more confidence in their presentations and in their overall demeanour. Ehlam is fluent in English and Arabic and she looks like she is extremely self-assured. In the past, Miss Universe was the first competition for many Miss Egypts but now we finally have a queen who has practiced at other pageants and is now ready to compete in the biggest one, which is a beneficial strategy! I found this gown inspired by the Egyptian flag on Hany El-Behairy's website.
Although it is not the most creative design for a national costume, it has a nice silhouette and the colours really pop on stage and overall, I think it's very appealing.
I know Hany El-Behairy designs were used on some Miss Egypts at Miss Universe in the past.
Perhaps this could be a possible national costume for Miss Egypt in 2009?

The Miss Universe Mikimoto was made of pearls, which is another unique and luxurious material. I think MUO should have gone with luminous opals or even irridescent black Tahitian peals in order to maintain a level of individuality.
