THE LATEST ON MARK ANCHETA : A reliable source informed me that Mark Ancheta, the morally degenerate organizer of the revived Miss Young International pageant, visited Taiwan this past weekend to convince the mayor of the city of Tainan, Hsu Tain-Tsair, to give him US$150,000 to host Miss Young International 2008 in Tainan. Ancheta was never invited to Tainan and his visit to the mayor's office was done spontaneously. Apparently, someone had tipped the mayor earlier about Ancheta's corrupt business dealings, and fortunately no contract was signed. Ancheta also begged the mayor to help pay for his hotel bill, but the mayor refused. Ancheta was expelled from Taiwan.

Go figure... what kind of a pageant organizer would invite himself to a mayor's office and actually think that it would be a legitimate business meeting? Ancheta came alone, without an entourage that is usually expected from legitimate pageant organizations. I was also informed that Ancheta had promised the mayor at least fifty contestants for his October pageant, but now that the hosting fee never materialized, Ancheta is left with no place to host his pageant.

From Ines's Blog (July 11th Entry):

Then we rushed to the lobby where we could meet with our delegates. Sun was weraing a Donna Karan long dress with silver accessories and her hair like she was just walking out the Versace runway, and Hiroko was a short lycra mini-dress with shocking red paltform yves St Laurent shoes, witn a wet-hair look. They looked ravishing, umbelievable how many people took photo of/with them. The thing is that Miss Thailand was seated with her Director right behind us and she was invisible, seated like if she was completely bored… (she should have gone to bed then, because if I were her Director I would have slapped her,,,,, like Miss Egypt did to Riyo,,,, oh no, did I just write that?!).

Okay it is now 6am and I am wondering if I really have a life to be blogging at this hour, I better go to bed.

Good night and big smiles

ps: again this is an unfiltered blog, also if you dot like what I write, then please do not visit my blog. Thank you.

Any thoughts?

fan-man,

I would like to know what will happen next.. Since the 3 grand slam pageants will be almost @ the same time (world, earth, and international).. Who will be the Egyptian representatives???
For me I believe that you should consider these delegates:
1-Aliaa shawky: very pretty and unique.. Plus she was the audience fav all the time and I believe that the audience voting got her the 2nd runner up (so I believe she should represent egypt .. maybe in miss world because she's extra unique and cutttte)
2- Yara Naoum: she's one of the best representatives ever!! She has it all .. I believe that the gown was her major fault :( .. But I think she still has to represent Egypt (world or Earth)
3-Meriam Georeg: This girl is the most experienced!! and she's the best miss Egypt ever!! She should go to miss international immediately
4- Sherian fouad: unique and elegant she should represent Egypt for sure (earth or world)
5- Luna Amine: although this girl is not miss Egypt but she can do a lot, I believe that she can win top model award in miss world mini game easily.
Other strong representatives: Arwa Gouda, and Rasha (2006) 2nd RU

....................
For all three pageants
All the girls should get training from now!!
1- going to the gym everyday!!!!!
2- makeup and interview lessons
3- walking skills lessons
..........................
For the constant going to miss world …. First, because of the workout she will be able to be placed in both "beach party, and sport award" .. the walking lessons will help her 2 be placed in the top model award.. Finally, I believe that the contestant going to miss world should learn a cerography of belly dance as a talent.. and master it .. In worst case it will be noticed
................................
Also, make sure that all the contestants have perfect gowns for the pageants.

* Note: in wikipedia they used 2 have Sherihan Fouad as the Egyptian representative but now they have a girl called Alxendria Dumit.. Any clue fan-man???

I wish u all the best,

N-N

The real story behind the gossip:
Miss Egypt Organization (Face To Face) is shocked by the article recently posted on Ines Ligron's blog concerning Miss Egypt Yara Naoum.
The National Director, Mr. Youssef Spahi contacted Ms. Naoum immediately after the story appeared on the web and she denied all the allegations. We highly suspected that this actually happened because we are constantly in contact with Miss Universe Organization and they wouldn't accept such a behavior from any contestant towards the others, not to mention towards Miss Universe!
In her latest e-mail with Mr. Spahi, Annette Cammer thanked him for sending "such a wonderful girl". Miss Egypt Organization highly suspects the genuienity of the story coming from a source that already spread suspicious rumors about other delegates. We also highly suspect that these are Ms. Ligron’s words as Mr. Spahi personally knows her and knows this is not the attitude of a National Director who already produced a Miss Universe.

So what actually happened?
Regarding the incident with Miss Universe 2007, Riyo Mori, Ms. Noum assured us that this did not happen during the preliminary competition or in the backstage as the article suggests, it happened on the day of the gala dinner almost a week ago!
“While all the girls were standing in lines outside their rooms getting ready to go down to the gala dinner, Miss Russia stepped on my dress by mistake and I couldn’t turn around, I just kept saying: My dress, my dress! And I leaned on someone behind me trying not to fall on the ground and to my shock that someone turned out to be Riyo Mori! We laughed it out and I apologized to her, of course I didn’t slap her or anyone else, this is not my attitude, absolutely ridiculous!
I met Riyo again during the preliminaries and apologized once again, even though knowing I did nothing wrong, but out of courtesy to a Miss Universe titleholder and she was very nice to me and told me to take care because a lot of this will happen in the backstage”
According to this we highly suspect it is Ms. Ligron who wrote the article because although the story bares some truth it wouldn’t come from someone in her position and who is constantly in contact with Ms. Mori, unless that Ms. Ligron is no longer allowed to spend that much time with Riyo as her director or as a friend!

The second incident with Miss Canada also bares some truth and lots of lies. According to the Miss Universe Organization’s Rules and Regulations, contestants should specify if they are smokers or non-smokers before they get to the host country, and Ms. Naoum specified in her application that she is a smoker and so the organizers accommodated her with Miss Canada, who is also a smoker, however she did not specify that in her application. It is also in the Organization’s rules that smoking contestants must not smoke outside their rooms!
“There was no problem with Miss Canada about smoking; she is also a smoker despite not mentioning that in her application! I always smoke in the bathroom only and I’m not a heavy smoker as well, but Miss Canada was not in the mood one day and she told the supervisor who later found cigarettes with Miss Canada herself and the whole thing came to an end, you can ask her yourself, we are good friends after all. It is normal to have such feelings out of stress and I understand what happened, believe me, there are lots of things that happen in the backstage!” said Ms. Naoum
Again the correct story highly conflicts with what actually happened. It is just funny to read what the blog said about the whole situation “Miss Canada asked her kindly to pls go outside when she wishes to smoke. She turned around and said: “why? This is MY room?!” It makes you wonder if Ms. Ligron was actually with them in the room?

The organizers are now planning to send a letter to Miss Universe Organization to investigate the incident and as Mr. Spahi was not able to go to Vietnam this year for personal reasons, MUO should not allow such a behavior to occur especially from a respectable National Director.
“I have been training the Egyptian representatives for ten years now, and as far as I know, our girls are known to be some of the most charming girls both on and back stage and there is no way that I would send a girl with such an attitude to Miss Universe even if I think she could win it all simply because she is representing my organization, name and country” said Mr. Spahi.

YOU'RE NOT DREAMING!
IT'S TRUE! =)

Here is Yara wearing her National Costume designed by Mr. Sepahi! I've always loved Mr. Sepahi's designs and this is no exception. The fabric is like liquid gold and I applaude him for designing/creating a costume this nice so quickly before Yara left for Vietnam. She really looks like an Egyptian Queen here and I am sure she lit up the theatre!

Here is Yara during the Final Rehearsal!

She's looking fabulous!

We all know Miss Universe boils down to politics and we will probably see the same countries (Canada, India, Japan, Mexico, Puerto Rico, USA, Venezuela, etc.) make the semi-finals as usual.

But putting all the politics aside and just focussing on who I would love to see compete in the final night, my personal favourites are:

ANGOLA, BELGIUM, CZECH REPUBLIC, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC, EGYPT, FRANCE, KAZAKHSTAN, KOSOVO, MEXICO, PANAMA, NORWAY, PUERTO RICO, SPAIN, VENEZUELA.

But according to you, WHO DO YOU WANT TO SEE MAKE THE TOP 15?

Arwa Gouda and Rosalita Tawil, do you also see it?

Rosalita Tawil is the new Miss Lebanon! A Beautiful, radiant girl from Beirut was crowned last night and Im just so excited to seeing her with the crown!

- The opening dance was nice, very professional. but hey! What does an Indian dance have to do with Miss Lebanon? total identity crisis!!
- The Stage was ok, not the best, but I like the idea that Miss Lebanon is taking the risk of holding an outdoor event, I especially liked it at the very end when the wonderful fireworks started! I think this is only the second time since 1995 that Miss Lebanon was held outdoor! In 1995 it was held in an Nahr El-Fnoon and was very beautiful!
- The judges were a JOKE! many of them have nothing to do with pageantary or beauty, I wonder why Lebanon never invite International Beauty Queens or Figures! They used to get beauty experts from France and U.K back in the 1990s!
- Well, lots of the girls in the Top12 were absolutely non-deserving, I just feel sorry for the beautiful Dolly Ayyash that was eliminated on the first prime! she could have been at least a runner-up! I think thats why Ministry of Tourism asked specifically for the clip that was shown in the beginning showing all the girls with their scores!! LBC is really hangin on a string here!
- I really liked the contestant's make-up I couldn't catch the artist's name in the titr! Also the hair was nice for some girls, but other girls like Carol Meouchy and Patricia Chahine were totally ignored I guess! Just because they are no favorites doesn't mean to treat them like that!! On the other hand they went abit over the top with other contestants with the very long extensions! but all in all the hair was ok, I think the stylest was Simon Mindlek!
- The evening gowns designed by Hanna Tooma were GORGEOUS!! I felt sorry for some of the gowns being worn by unattractive lasies! I didn't absolutely like the idea that it consists of 50% of the contestants score and there were no swimsuits competition, we are luycky to have a fit winner!
- I also liked the idea that all 12 girls got to be asked by the judges, very classic, most of the answers were ready to made but some of them were genuine, I liked all the girls especially Stephanie Khattar's answer. On the other hand, Stephanie Salem answered in the worst way and still managed to get one of the highest marks 9.7!!!
- The Top6 were amazing, the best 6 I guess, it could have been perfest if Stephanie Khattar was replaced by Dolly Ayyash! I know it's impossible, but one can dream!
- Michella Haddad: After they said that all marks were adjusted to zero and that the winner will be chosen solely by the final answer, I thought this girl would be the new Miss Lebanon! She gave the best answer among the six and she looked absolutely gorgeous in that blue dress!! 2nd Runner-Up is still not bad, I wish to see her in Miss International!
- Stephanie Khattar: I think her smart answer and gorgeous gown were the only reasons she was standing in the Top6, good job, she must be proud.
- Abir Habachy: The girl is gorgeous and has the most beautiful green eyes, but she never smiles, still I liked her alot, at the beginning of the night I expected her to win, but her chances started to fall after each presentation, still a very remarkable beauty!
- Rosalita Tawil: she looks so fresh and simply stunning, Im really happy that Miss Lebanon is now going with this trend instead of choosing just beautiful girls! Rosalita's striking resemblence with Arwa Gouda makes her extra special to me as Arwa is one of my all-time favorite beauties!! And that gown looked wonderful on her, I thought it was tailored on her body right before she took the stage!
- Eliana Attallah: Another beautiful girl! she looks like a young Yusra or Nisreen Emam to me!! very nice, but there was something missing in her, I donno what but she did really great and she absolutely had the body, I think if swimsuit counts she could have won!!
- Stephanie Salem: she is pageant-patty but still so gorgeous, had a great gown, I see a small resemblence with Yara Naoum, someone told me she looks like Reem Helal, but I think her marks were abit inflated especially she answered both the Top12 and Top6 questions really badly, but still she got the 1st Runner-Up spot, she has a great body and a cute face!
Congratulations to the winners and lets hope to see at least another gorgeous Arab lady standing with Rosalita in Miss World 2008!!

whats the hell ???
that from ines blog is it true ???!

Gossip of the day:

Miss Egypt is a real pain in the neck; she slapped Riyo backstage when by mistake she stepped on her dress. Then she was horrified when she realized she just had slapped Miss Universe! LOL She was saying –“I am sorry I did not know that it was you!!”… Riyo told her: “it is okay, but you should not do that anyway to anyone, this is not really nice”. She was mortified.

Also she shares the room with is Canada and she smokes cigarettes after cigarettes and Miss Canada asked her kindly to pls go outside when she wishes to smoke. She turned around and said: “why? This is MY room?!” Nice girl indeed! Sometimes I wonder why this kind of girl bothers to come here…. Hiroko and Sun adore their respective roommates, they were lucky with Miss Ireland and El Salvador because they are the sweetest girls.

My commentary is in bold

Gossip of the day:

Miss Egypt is a real pain in the neck;

Excuse me? Since when is blatant name calling a sign of professionalism from a National Director? Also, when the Ao Dai Fashion Show competition took place, Ines mentioned that there was a "bad girl" who stole the best ao dai from another delegate and then acted mean to everyone. All Ines said was she was in the Top 5 of that contest. NOTICE: INES NEVER NAMED THAT GIRL. SO WHY SINGLE OUT YARA ALL OF A SUDDEN? I'm beginning to think the 'Ao Dai' mystery was just a cheap attempt for Ines to get more views on her blog and that the entire thing was fabricated.

she slapped Riyo backstage when by mistake she stepped on her dress. Then she was horrified when she realized she just had slapped Miss Universe! LOL She was saying –“I am sorry I did not know that it was you!!”… Riyo told her: “it is okay, but you should not do that anyway to anyone, this is not really nice”. She was mortified.

I am mortified too...by these comments. Everyone knows Yara would never slap anyone. But let's look deeper into Ligron's story. First off, would anyone at anytime willfully SLAP Miss Universe or anyone else in a contest in which you are being watched and judged for 3 1/2 weeks straight?! Furthermore, where did this "slap" happen? Ligron makes it sound like Riyo was slapped in the face; however, if she was, I bet Riyo would have been far more outraged. So, it is obvious that she was not slapped in the face because her reply to Yara was calm.

Ines also comments that Riyo stepped on Yara's dress first! So why isn't Riyo scolded for an act that may have damaged a delegate's gown right before the preliminary competition?! How is Riyo the victim when she should have watched her step, especially during such a crucial part of the pageant? If Yara indeed did do something, I am sure it was just a tap or a small nudge out of shock because no one expects to have someone else step/damage their gown right before the prelims, even if it was an "accident" on Riyo's part.

In addition, Riyo's "godly" response to Yara is sickening. If Yara's dress was indeed stepped on then Yara is the victim, not Riyo. Just because Riyo is Miss Universe does not make her higher than the rest of mankind.

Finally, if this incident was real and did actually happen, why is Yara supposed to forgive and forget Riyo but Riyo (and Ines) are not reciprocating the forgiveness? IF MISS USA WAS IN YARA'S PLACE, I BET YOU INES WOULD NOT HAVE COMMENTED ON THIS AT ALL! Ines feels safe when she is able to bully non-pageant powerhouse countries.

Also she shares the room with is Canada and she smokes cigarettes after cigarettes and Miss Canada asked her kindly to pls go outside when she wishes to smoke. She turned around and said: “why? This is MY room?!”

There are smokers at Miss Universe every year! Remember in 2002? Cynthia Lander (Miss Venzeula) smoked a lot. In 2003 both Miss Colombia and Miss Spain used to smoke but they were not depicted as vicious, evil, witches! So why now, Ines?

I also find it crazy that Ines would discuss things that don't even pertain to her queens. Does Ines know Miss Canada? No. So it is safe to say that Ines NEVER WITNESSED ANY OF THIS WITH HER OWN TWO EYES. So why should anyone take what she says seriously?

Nice girl indeed! Sometimes I wonder why this kind of girl bothers to come here….
THIS LINE BOTHERED ME THE MOST! What is meant by "this type of girl"? Why is it when Amelia Vega insulted and phsyically abused delegates in 2003 (which was witnessed and expressed by SEVERAL DELEGATES) she was considered a goddess who deserved her victory and when these unsubstantiated accusations are sparked, Yara is labeled as unprofessional and a wasted contestant? Complete hypocrasy!

Hiroko and Sun adore their respective roommates, they were lucky with Miss Ireland and El Salvador because they are the sweetest girls.

Oh, of course Hiroko and Sun ADORE everything! Because now it's time for you to slither in your praise for your two girls and their friends! If Yara was Hiroko and Sun's friend, I'm sure she would not have been singled out.

All the delegates were filming for the opening number in their National Costume. Japan and Korea were right on the front… this is bad news maybe it means that they will not be in the finals? I hope not!

Riyo practiced her final speech. This year it will be the first time that a Miss Universe will be dancing on stage during the opening number. Sun will be on the first row, same as Riyo last year. In general they always put the girls who have the best presence and can dance best on the front. In 2003 Amelia Vega was front and Riyo Mori as well last year. Hiroko will be in the back, I am not surprised because she cannot really dance well….

The girls that impressed me today are Czech Republic, Serbia, Russia, Nicragua, Ukraine, Netherlands and Turkey.

I am now in the lobby at the delegate’s hotel, and we are all waiting for the delegates to come. We have an hour sharp to share with them tonight again.

I was seated with the directors of Angola, Antigua and Barbados, Ed of Global Beauties, Osmel Souza and Miss Dominican Republic’ mom at the rehearsals.

The delegates started today at 5 am! And they rehearsed all day

I will write later because Luciano, my good friend whom is the Director of Miss Italy just arrived and I can spot him across the hallway. I want to welcome here. Talk to you after I see the delegates.

Here is Yara backstage before the Evening Gown competition. What a great pic!

Here is Yara introducing herself during the prelim competition. The cocktail dresses for the introductions this year aren't the best but I'm glad Yara got to wear pink because we haven't seen her in this colour so far.

SWIMSUIT

Yara's walk is definitely more sassy and confidant without being too over-the-top. I like it a lot!

EVENING GOWN

The art deco gown Hesham Aboulela gown is nice and the black shiny leather detailing is sexy and elongates the body. Yara looks like she just stepped out of an old Hollywood magazine. It's a nice gown and look but doesn't stand out on stage because of the dark colours. I hope Yara wears the blue Nicolas Jebran gown during the finals because she will definitely turn heads and get noticed by people watching the telecast. That's a WOW gown!

Thanks to N-N for the youtube info! =)

Finally, the moment we have all been waiting for! The Prelims!

PRELIMINARY SWIMSUIT

I actually prefer this green bikini on Yara than the orange one. The green compliments are lovely complexion.
Yara's hair looks wonderful too!
Straight bangs with fullness in the back definitely was the right choice.
STUNNING STUNNING STUNNING!
The man at the bottom of the pic: "Habibi, I give you a PERFECT 1O!"

PRELIMINARY EVENING GOWN

This one-of-a-kind Hesham Aboulela gown hits Yara in all the right places!
It's definitely molded around her body in the best way possible. It looks very tribal, like Ancient Aztec Art!
She looks terrific here (her hair is definitely the best I have seen it so far) although, I think the blue Nicolas Jebran gown would have had more of a wow factor on stage.

Dear Fans:

I am a National Director for a competing Miss Universe Pageant nation although, due to professional reasons, I do not want to divulge the name of my country at this time. I am currently vactioning while my delegate is in Vietnam. After hearing some news about the changes in the course of the competition, I wanted to share my sentiments with you.

When a National Director approaches MUO, the business that is practiced is extremely professional. Formal contracts are made and signed and there is mututal respect between both parties. I have always made my franchise fee payments in time, despite them being quite expensive and difficult to make. However, I have always respected by business with MUO and so it was always a responsibility that I was happy to live with.

I am sad to say that this level of respect is not reciprocated by MUO. As you may have heard, only a Top 10 is being selected to particiate in the finals during the live telecast. It is important to state that the message I received from MUO several weeks back was that there would be a Top 15, with 6 delegates being chosen by MUO staff and 9 being selected by the preliminary panel of judges. These last minute changes are unprofessional enough but what is really disheartening is the fact that I and several other National Directors I have spoken to today were not told about these changes. Like all of you, we were shocked to find these new changes listed on the NBC website and in Ines Ligron's blog.

I quickly messaged MUO and received an email confirming that only a Top 10 will be selected to compete in the final telecast. If this was not painful to fathom enough, what really upsets me is when it was written in Ines Ligron's blog that the reason for this change was due to the low standard of beauty and the lack of desire from certain delegates.

I know that my delegate is gorgeous inside and out and that she wants to win more than anything. Firstly, I find it wrong for MUO to punish all the delegates because they feel the standard of beauty is not at the level it should be, especially since the past few Miss Universe winners were not the physically most beautiful in the competition. This is by no means a jab at the queens. They all truy deserved to win but I am just trying to make the point that if external beauty was so important, they would not have won.

Secondly, I am distraught that MUO feels that certain delegates do not want to win the title. I am curious if MUO has asked each delegate whether or not they want to win because I am sure most of them would say yes. Even if there are some competitors who are showing signs of dismay, why punish all the delegates by cutting 5 from the list? Not only are they denying 5 women from winning the title, but they are also taking all of their hard work and time and flushing it away. Many delegates from nations that do not place in the semi-finals all the time yearn for even 5 minutes to strut their stuff on NBC because that in itself is a prize.

In addition, it was not even told to me whether or not Mr. Donal Trump will be selecting any of his favorites to compete in the final night although, I am sure he will. I find this disturbing because now only a handful of spots are available for the "competitors", whilst the hand selected ones can coast through it all.

Perhaps if I was Ines, Lupita, Magali, Osmel or Denis, I would get more detailed answers on time but since I am not, I am practically in the same boat as the fans.

I am quite upset right now, so I have reserved my emotions in this message but I do hope that if we all collectively voice our opinions to MUO, they will not make such ridiculous changes in the future.

The golden rule is respect and unfortunately, MUO has shown me that they do not abide by this priciple.

Thank you for your time.

Yara at the Vinpearl Gala Dinner

I love this black and blue gown that Yara wore! Despite MUO's claims that many of the girls are homesick, unhappy, and don't want to be in Vietnam (which is why Ines Ligron reports that there will only be a Top 10 this year), it is GREAT to see Yara smiling and having a great time. I am also happy to see Yara wearing brighter make-up and acting more confident in front of the camera. Hopefully, MUO will see her positive attitude and reward her for it! Once again, the gown rocks! Yara has worn some of the best dresses that I have ever seen a Miss Egypt bring with her to a Miss Universe competition. I can't wait to see the black/brown Aboulela gown she will wear during the prelims. I'm sure she will rock it out!

According to the Vietnamese press, a portrait made out of precious and semi-precious stones of reigning Miss Universe, Riyo Mori, was sold for $36,250.00. Riyo Mori loved it so much that the company that donated it promised to make another one just like it to give her as a gift.

Apparently, she says she made a mistake! It will be a Top 15 this year. She's giving me a headache. I don't know if she is said the truth and then MUO felt pressured to go back to Top 15 because of the backlash or if Ines just forgot to take her medicine. loooooool

No matter how many semi-finalists there will be, I wish Yara all the best and I hope you light up the stage with your beauty!

Any news on how Yara's preliminary interview went?

Global Beauties mentioned that this year will be a Top 15 and NOT a Top 20.

The NBC website says that: The Top 10 finalists will be judged in three categories: swimsuit, evening gown, and interview during the broadcast. Also, the winner for Best National Costume, as decided by online votes, will be announced. This seems to be a typo.

However, Ines Ligron (National Director of Miss Universe Japan) has cleared up the confusion in her blog because MUO told her that:

There will be a TOP 15.

Then there will be a cut to a TOP 10.

TOP 10 then compete in INTERVIEWS!

Then Top 10 is cut to TOP 5.

TOP 5 will be asked a FINAL QUESTION.

I'm not sure if Mr. Spahi was told the same information by MUO as well.

Although I am happy to see MUO stressing interviews again, so many contestants this year are quite poor in this department and I am beginning to think maybe this MUO's way to get Miss USA, Venezuela, and India up as high as possible because they seem to have the most practice with interviews as opposed to other countries.

We'll see.

P.s. Voting for Best National Costume begins on Monday at 9 AM (eastern standard time in the US) so VOTE FOR YARA & MR. SPAHI'S DESIGN!

BEACH BEAUTY RESULTS:

WINNER: MISS MEXICO

REST OF THE TOP 5:
MISS COLOMBIA (Finally some attention)
MISS INDIA (WTF?!)
MISS SPAIN (Nice Surprise)
MISS USA (She's fit!)

Okay, so I don't have a problem with Miss Mexico winning this. She's stunning but her body isn't "the best"; however, her overall looks make up for this. But I think that Venezuela should have been up there but was not because of the backlash that has occured after her mega-favouritism. They should have let someone else win the Ao Dai contest so Venezuela could take this one because she deserves Best in Swimsuit.

Nice surprises to see where Miss Colombia and Spain. I totally forgot Spain even sent anyone until now so it was nice that she got some attention for once.

The one delegate I am totally confused about is Miss India. From far and with LOTS OF WHITE LIGHT she looks good. Up close, she looks a lot less attractive. There are several women who look better than Miss India in a swimsuit. For example, Yara has a much fitter torso and a much more toned waist than Miss India! I prefer Yara in her swimsuit over Miss India any day! And what about: Australia, Brazil, PR, DR, France, Angola, Belgium, Norway, etc.? All have better beach bodies than Miss India.

This makes Miss India the only delegate out of the 80 women to make the Top 5 in all three mini competitions so far: National Costume, Ao Dai, and Beach Beauty.

She is definitely riding the sash factor for all it's worth but I hope it ends soon. To say that India is better than Venezuela in swimsuit this year is a complete joke!

Yara during the Beach Beauty Contest

Yara is looking goooooood! Her walk was nice, too. You can check out Yara's performance in the video below. She is very demure, sexy, and classy. I love it! Simple, elegant and polished! However, it seems that in Vietnam the over-the-top girls who shake, swagger, and toss their hair every 3 seconds get more noticed. So, although I think Yara's performance was great, I want her to get more noticed because she deserves it. I suggest swaggering more and playing more with the audience, like blowing kisses to them and almost flirting. It sounds trivial, I know, but it really does make a delegate stand out. Great job though Yara!

From Ines Ligron's blog:

In fact, I was told that this year it is the weakest group ever also the organization decided to have a top-10 only. Many girls that are really pretty are in fact home sick, or have no interest to win. Also the preliminary interview will be very challenging and only the top 10 girls who are really focused, smart and also beautiful will be chosen.

I believe based on who are the final judges, the winner will be someone fresh, young, generous, trendy and with a very unique personality…. Judges includes fashionista Jennifer Hawkins, Miss Universe 2004 and fashion-maker Roberto Cavalli, mega-star Italian designer.

YARA IN NHA TRANG

Yara with Miss UK, Japan, and EL Salvador at the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at the Diamond Bay Resort.

Here is Yara waving at the parade! She's looking amazing! Look at that flat stomach! Eat your heart out Miss India! lol!

Yara on a float during the parade! She is taking pics with her camera. I hope she is able to post some of her personal pics on this MB when she comes back!

Yara having fun on the float!

Yara looking really awesome! Love this pic!

But here is my issue. If you take a look at all the other photos of the parade, you will notice some delegates wearing extremely colourful, Vietnamese traditional outfits and standing on colourful floats. Other delegates are wearing shorts and t-shirts. I think Yara looks SUPER CUTE and VERY SEXY in her outfit. It's fun, sporty, and fits Yara really well. So I'm not complaining that Yara doesn't look good because she looks AWESOME!

But let's take a look at the women who DID NOT wear the traditional, colourful Vietnamese dresses:

Albania
Argentina
Belgium
Brazil
Costa Rica
Croatia
Denmark
Ecuador
El Salvador
Egypt
Georgia
Germany
Greece
Guatemala
Italy
Jamaica
Malaysia
Netherlands
Panama
Peru
Philippines
Russia
Tanzania
Thailand
Turkey
Turks and Caicos
UK

As you can see, the women who were left to wear the shorts and t-shirts were all (more or less) non-powerhouse countries, who are not getting as much media attention as others!

I find this so unfair! USA, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Domincan Republic, Canada, Japan, Colombia, Vietnam (obviously), India, Mexico, (and other powerhouse and some non-powerhouse countries) all wore traditional Vietnamese outfits.

I don't know if this was the delegates' decisions or if MUO made the choices. If MUO made these choices then I think it's quite unfair because Yara would have looked gorgeous in a Vietnamese gown too! Miss Estonia ended up wearing a Vietnamese gown and she is right after Egypt alphabetically, so I have no clue why Yara was overlooked.

I also wanted to point out that Miss Vietnam (host delegate) and Miss Venezuela practically had their own float all to themselves! Doesn't this seem a bit bias?
