Subject: You (2) are funny..Obama walks back remark about private sector 'doing fine'
In reply to: rabw 's message, "Re: Obama says "The Private Sector is Doing Fine"" on 08:02:19 06/11/12 Mon

Filp -Flop

Obama told reporters that he didn't mean to suggest that the American private sector is "doing fine" -- his words this morning -- but that he was instead pointing out that there are positive signs in recent economic reports.

"Listen, it is absolutely clear that the economy is not doing fine," Obama told reporters in the Oval Office who had gathered to hear remarks after his meeting with the Philippine president.

"If you look at what I said" both this morning and over the past year, he said, "we've actually seen some good momentum in the private sector."

Obama had called the morning news conference to talk about the state of the economy and to call on Congress to take up some of his job-creation proposals.
