Oopps.. Cities goof lets Cumberland Farm off the hook. Maybe it was the snow but councilors blew the deadline for voting on a new convenience store at the corner of Rt. 85 and Walker Street. "By it's own inaction, the City Council has OK'd plans for a convenience store and gas station on Rt. 85 that only days ago appeared to be dead on arrival" according to an article in today's Metrowest Daily News. The News further stated that "In addition to councilors Matt Elder and Don Landers, Ward 2 Councilor Rick Jenkins, who represents the neighbors of the proposed gas station, and Ward 1 Councilor Joseph Delano had gone on record saying they oppose the project".

To pass, there needs to be a "supermajority" - eight votes to pass the 11 member City Council and with the four councilors indicating opposition, the project would not be allowed.

So all of the people who attended meetings to oppose the project find that their time was wasted.

Hmmmm.... sounds like those 600 plus folks that signed the petition against the Senior Center being located at Ward also wasted their time.

I'll bet by the time it comes to vote for these same councilors, these folks will not waste their time by voting for them. Should be interesting
