If you want quality employees in this city then you have to make it more attractive than the private sector. As the family member of a city employee even though the split is different than yours I would venture to say we are paying more out of pocket than you are. Right now it's nearly $500 dollars a month for the family plan. Two kids are aged out so that family plan now only pays for three. No change in cost. My brothers plan allows for a change in premium when he loses a plan member. When my third child ages out in a year the plan will still be the same for two adults.
Marlborough is self insured and don't think they don't make a profit, They actually do and have been known to dip into the health fund and sprinkle it where needed.

I pay taxes too BTW and support things I might not agree with that's the way it goes.
