The entertainer Rush Limbaugh is not an acceptable source of factoids. He may be for you.

It is true that Congress gave them those tax breaks and the reason why was to stimulate R&D and production. It did not work. So why should we continue investing in a losing strategy? I thought Republicans wanted to cut the budget?

Anyway, regarding Rush Limbaugh's point, that the Democrats rejected Obama's plan today. The US Senate defeated the oil subsidies bill despite Obama's call. After he made this big plea for the Senate to get rid of these oil tax breaks, the Senate, the Democrat controlled Senate rejected Obama and the subsidies or the taxes, tax breaks for the oil companies survive. The Democrats in the Senate ignored him.

Once again, repeating the mantra "Democrat controlled Congress" or "Democrat controlled Senate" doesn't make it true or meaningful.

Control of the Senate and the ablility to pass legislation are two very different capabilities. Having control of the Senate or Congress does not confer the power to pass bills.

If you do not believe that, please allow me to retort your defense.

But keep sending the message anyway. Dumber Republicans will believe it. It works for Rush in your case, right?
Ya know, listening to Rush's propaganda is bad enough, quoting it as acceptable truth is just plain ignorance.
I'd stick with quoting McConnell.
