An R rating does not mean kids under 17 cannot see the movie. It means you need a parent to be with you. Which ultimately is a better scenario because parents and students need to see this movie together and have a discussion about what they view. Our students see lots of R rated movies. You wouldn't believe what my 4th graders have seen... They also have a real sense that movies and video games are not real. Killing, dying and making fun of someone is always okay in a lot of films... One reason I don't like American Idol which for a long time paraded poor singers and laughed at them made me cringe. This movie will open discussion but may not make the impact we think it will.
