Subject: Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act (CISPA)

I am a bit confused on this Cybersecurity Bill.

Republicans claim that the US government is too intrusive, too encompassing, too regulatory, and yet they passed this bill in the House today.

The Obama administration objects to it on the basis of privacy, calling CISPA an intelligence bill rather than a security bill, and one that treats civilians as subjects of surveillance.

Trevor Timm, a lawyer and activist with the Electronic Frontier Foundation says “CISPA allows companies to hand over private data to the government without a warrant, without anonymity, with no judicial review.” Now if Republicans were speaking the truth, then Democrats should vote for this bill.

If the Republicans want less government in our lives, Why are they promoting and voting for legislation that takes away our liberties, freedoms, and privacies, While the Democrats whom Republicans rail against as being too controlling, they voted against this legislation.

Who is telling the truth here?

And who is protecting what from whom?

To me, its as plain as the nose on your face.

Its the same old pack o' lies.

Republicans want this shit.

Under CISPA, the Internet providers and other private companies would:

Receive classified digital signatures and other data from the US government agencies, including intelligence agencies like the National Security Agency, to help identify malicious Internet traffic.

Give private Internet providers and others the right to defend their own networks and their corporate customers – and share cyberthreat information with others in the private sector and with the federal government on a voluntary basis.

Encourage, but not require, private companies to “anonymize” information that they voluntarily share with government and nongovernment entities.

Grant to Internet providers immunity from privacy lawsuits in which customer information was voluntarily disclosed as a possible security threat.

Grant Internet companies antitrust protection that immunizes them against allegations of colluding on cybersecurity issues.

Require an independent audit of information shared with the government.

Democrats don't want this shit.

Tell me which party is giving US more government oversight?

And which party is protecting the rights of US Citizens?
