Kristen, I am happy that you have been chosen to represent Maine at the National level as Mrs. Maine United States. However, as a fellow woman who battles depression and has for several years, I find it rather upsetting that you refer to it as a mental illness. My doctor has never once referred to my depression as a mental illness so it bothers me that the term illness is one of your marketing tools for your platform. Schizophrenia, bipolar and multiple personality syndrome, now those I would characterize as a mental illness. You may want to reconsider the term 'illness' when traveling throughout the State of Maine and New England promoting your platform. You may offend more people than help.
