On reading, my first impression and thoughts was to say THANK You to all who have supported the NorthEast Star Pageant and what we stand for.
As directors we truly believe in professionalism, organization and fairness to all. We run our pageants for the (Girls) to expand their hozinons and to develope an awareness of the world, their place in it and treat others with respect, have good sportmanship, whether they agree with the outcome or not.
It is unforunate when judges do not make it. But circumstances happen and we move on, not to BASH but UNDERSTAND.
The judges used at the Northeast Star were well qualified in all aspects of pageantry, a director for over 34 years
to a Miss Maine pre-lim, owned her own business for over 40 yrs, Miss America certified judges. One judge, judged the Eastern Maine pageant back in April and will be judging the St Croix coming up. We doubt her judging ability will change from one pageant to another.
We hope that all pageants strive to get better with each year and so will WE!
Tallying is very important in a pageant and should never be shorten, to maybe make a mistake and give the wrong girl the title because someone thinks it is taken to long.
Only ONE tie was in this pageant not several, as have been stated.( We do have all the scores.) The tie was not broken as the title went to both contestants, which is only fair, as we believe. We have added a judging criteria to the judges packet for ties in our next pageant.
Judges decisions are final so it is the upmost important
that scores are correct and not be rushed.
Every contestant was given ample practice time and instructions on what to do and where to walk on stage. They could use the stage for practice as long as was needed before the pageant started.(Their choice)
Tears by many, one or two does not constitute many, as we know who they were. One needs to ask themselves, Why?
Maybe because a little girl got gum on her dress,or maybe a three or four year old didn't really want to be there
and the parent thought they should. It is a parents choice to put her child in a pageant, whether it is their first or many.As directors we leave that choice to all parents and they may pull them out with money back. We do not advocate or force a child to enter. If it can't be fun and exciting for contestants then pageants maybe are not for them.
IMO, the contestants on stage can come accross with one interesting fact as well as five or more.
Don't under estimate a contestant who enters a pageant for the very first time. Interviews are very important and can change the whole outcome of a pageant, from what you see on stage. Our interviews next year will be 40% of the score.
Everyone can not be winners and it is our responsibilty as parents, to tell them ,they are still beautiful, talented and loved very much as a winner or a loser.
We are now part of the Make-A-Wish foundation of Maine. We believe in giving back and this is our way of doing that. Our updated website has all info on it plus pictures of vey beautiful girls. www.freewebs.com/northeaststarpageant
Thanks again for entering the Northeast Star pageant and making a wish come true for some child or children who are fighting a life threatening illness.
