I am competing in a pageant at the end of this month, but I have no clue what to wear for interview. Last year I wore a simple black pantsuit, but I feel that is a little bit uptight, considering this pageant has kind of a "beachy" theme. I was thinking a nice simple pair of pants in a light color paired with a nice bright color sleeveless wrap top. I don't know if it is too casual, or not. Any ideas for interview outfits??

Kristin Center wrote:

Hello to everyone,

Hopefully I have not forgotten anyone that I am meaning to thank. This letter is intended to let everyone know how things are shaping up and what I've been up to.

For some strange reason, I am pretty calm. After finally packing up my bags (basically) I finally got a good night's sleep. It's so much more difficult than anyone could imagine. Believe it or not. Every day will be filled with appearances and functions, cocktail parties and cruises, photo sessions and rehearsals. My itinerary does not leave much time for enjoying LasVegas. I'm leaving Saturday at 1:00 p.m. With my husband, daughters and step-daughter. I am especially thrilled to have my cousin, Terry Barton, from California meeting us out there in Vegas. She's a breath of fresh air and I love her dearly. Can't wait to see you, Terry! We are so excited to get it going.

Over the last few months and weeks I've been frantically preparing for my road race that will take place on October 20th here in Freeport. Although its months away, the deadlines are now. So, to make things even more confusing, I'm trying to keep several to-do-lists complete.

I ask that you all go to my website and see all of the wonderful things I've been able to be a part of. www.mrsmaine07.com.

LaKermesse was a blast. Freeport 4th of July parade was too! I love my hometown of Freeport!

My first and most heartfelt thank you needs to go to my husband, Harry. You can't even begin to understand what a saint he is for putting up with me through it all. The last minute hair and makeup emergencies. Taking pictures for my website. Organizing dinner for the girls when I'm crazy busy. No matter how I look, my husband tells me I'm the most beautiful woman in the room and that's a precious thing to have in a husband. He makes it easy to be myself and explore what the world has to offer. I'm forever grateful for his loving support, helpful guidance and his genuine enthusiasm for something he didn't ask to be a part of but has welcomed so lovingly into our home. I love you. And yes, this DOES make you Mr.Maine!

***Thank you Susan Ray, Silpada jewelry gal extraordinaire for my super fundraiser.

***Christie Petit, you've been a great source of information and thanks for keeping up with my schedule. I've been lucky enough to not only call you a great scheduler but a super friend.

***Stewart, you've been an advocate for every woman and title holder that you've photographed. I will always call on you for any photography needs. Thank you.

***Mark & Denise Lessard & family, thank you for your gift....I appreciate it so very much.

***Stephanie Dudley--my friend first, hairdresser second! You make me laugh so hard and you have been a great source of glamour knowledge, friendship, comedic relief and an all-round confidant. I love you.

***Carolyn Martinez--thank you to you for my nails and the many gifts you've given. It's been fun filling you in every two weeks while you are "filling me in". Haha.

***Steve Alpren, you know that you've helped out with exposure and appearances and I feel we both know that my goal is to help promote my platform and have a good time while doing it.

***Vickie Kelley, having someone like you to bring all of my emergencies to has been invaluable. We've laughed a ton and through it all, I have to say YOU have been my biggest cheerleader. When I've been unsure of something you've always set me straight and sent me on my way. And, you didn't make me feel so bad when I threw the pitch into the dirt at the SeaDogs. Haha!

***Beth Olesen and the gang at PTI.....you were my first sponsor and my undying team of relentless coaches. I now know what it REALLY takes to be an athlete. You were not just my trainers, you showed such a sincere enthusiasm for my work and my goal....to be the next Mrs.United States. Beth, I love you and I'll be the one standing at the finish line of that Marathon waiting for you--no matter what year it is!

***Elizabeth Hamilton-Guarino, Mrs. Maine United States 2006, thank you for paving the way and making the transition from your reign to mine so easy. I had some big shoes to fill and I only hope that I make you proud.

***Matt and Jason, at MaineGems in Freeport, thank you for the once-in-a-lifetime chance to wear the most beautiful jewelry ever. You didn't even hesitate to donate it and I truly felt like a princess when it adorned my hand.

***To Bo and the boys at BlackBear Signworks, thank you for the great looking signs I've used to announce my appearance at local parades. You were very gracious and generous with your time and donation. I thank you.

***My friends Lynn & Rick, Eric & Colleen, Kemal & Laura, Mark & Torrie-thanks for always being so excited for my crazy endeavors. One of the twins is wearing the great t-shirt you made Torrie. Survivor here I come!!!!

My most special "thank you" to my pageant coach Robert Towle. Robert "doesn't do e-mail" so he'll never receive this but I want everyone to know what he's done for me and that there ARE people out there who sincerely go out of their way just because they care. Robert came into his shop on days off, trained me on walking, posing, sitting, standing, speaking and every other "ing" out there. He made me laugh my butt off every step of the way and he even came to NYC with me on a weekend junket to shop for evening gown, interview suit and jewelry. (and every other trinket he thought I needed). The Miss Maine organization is truly blessed to have this man in their corner and I'm blessed to have gotten to work with him. From the bottom of my heart Robert, thank you.

I'll return on the 13th of July and fill everyone in on my adventures. Wish me luck in Vegas!

Fondly,

Kristin Center

Did anyone visiting this board have the opportunity to go to the Miss Maine and Maine's Outstanding Teen Pageants over the weekend? I did not, and I was wondering how the production was, and how everyone's talent presentations were. I heard Erin Buck (great singer) from Caribou won teen, but who were the runners-up?

The new Miss Maine is Tara Allain. Arrika Knights was 1st RU and Adrienne Watkinson was 2nd RU. As of yet, www.missmaine.org has not been updated. I would love to hear what people thought of the pageant.

I am just letting you all know that I do not want to get involved in what ever is going on out there.....I have also chosen to no longer go to other boards because I don't want to get caught up with things that are being said.

I have received a few posts over the past few days that I will not post...

I am not going to choose sides and no longer care who owns what board...

I am going to just go about my day and mind my business...

I just banned 2 people for their misbehavior and will continue to do so....Even if that means it's just me and one other person left on this board..That's how it will go.

I don't want people coming here naming names and such unless you post something like....." I hope Kristin Center comes back with the crown"!!!....Anything like that works for me...

I invite you to post pictures, predictions, nice comments, pageant news, upcoming events and so on....

Thank you for your time and for coming here.

Sincerely,
Stewart

Dear Mr. Smith,

I am glad to see that you have kept this board Drama free..I just sat down and ventured onto a few different boards I often go to every now and then and am impressed on how well you have done to keep this board a safe place for people to come and post topics, comments and pictures.

I will continue to come here and felt compelled to say something and let you know I appreciate your professionalism.

I don't want to say anything about anyone or any other board knowing you might want to delete my post for being negative but thought I had to say something.

I am not one to post often but just had to.

I had alot on my mind when I allowed that post to go through..

I read it quickly and didn't think anything about it..

I have been away over the past week at a funeral and to visit relatives and did not have access to the internet.

When I came back..I realized what happened and deleted the post along with a string of out-raged comments about the original post.

Here is the bottom line....

It has been taken care of...I made a mistake.

Thank you to those for your understanding.

Just in case there are any girls out there looking to do some volunteering in the Bangor area. My husband's aunt works at Dirigo Pines in Orono, and she said that kids can come in and read to the residents there. A bunch of them have very poor eyesight, or are blind. They have special large books that are good for two people sitting side by side. During the school year, some classes come in, but that has died off for the summer. The residents really enjoy it I'm told, so if there is anyone looking for something they can do every now and then, it might be worth it to give them a call and check it out.

This past Sat. Eva took cards in to the Veteran's Home in Bangor. They were so happy to receive them. And they loved having someone come visit them. As we were leaving, I heard one gentleman tell a nurse he wished his family would come in like Eva did. It just about made me cry. Eva had been upset, as I had told her there were about 150 patients, and she was only able to make 38 cards during the week. She wanted each person to get one. But I told her that they would be happy with those, and that she could make more and go in again. It will give her something to do this summer while she's at home. That made her feel better, and she is looking forward to going back again. She is even talking about after school starts, getting her friends involved, and also baking goodies to take in.

NES is over & I would bet that everyone went home happy. My daughter did. Some personal opinions on it...My thought since it was Naturally, Elegant & Simple. I did not expect to see bathing suits on the girls that you couldnt really swim in. (a little too glitzy) I was surprised at some of the "routines" during casual/runway wear. I expected simple & natural....
It was a very nice pageant & well put on. I thought it ran pretty smooth. One thing we (daughter mentioned it) was the lack of trophies. I think the gifts were a wonderful idea dont get me wrong. Why not a small trophy stating what they won-like best hair, best eyes, most beautiful etc...
(I think this is where Debbie at LMV spoiled everyone-she had both)
I was very happy to see Christina Couto at the pageant & very happy to finally meet her. It makes wanting to do one of her pageants a priority.
I thought the judges did an excellent job! The remarks they put down were very nice & made me even more proud of my daughter because of the wonderful things someone with real knowledge about pageants had to say about her.
All in all for our first NES we thought it was a great pageant & we would highly recommend it and go again--at least in Maine.

Great Job Miss Tammy!

I am just letting you all know that I am off to Atlanta to wrap up the reality tv show I was on last month out in Las Vegas....
I don't know how many of you knew I was doing this...

The tv show is about 20 photographers from across the United States and 20 models from across the United States all going head to head against each other....
There were 3 days of shooting involved where the photographers shot all the models and then handed in all their images to be judged...
The judges then narrow the field down to the best of the top ten..They judged us on style and technique...I am proud to say that I made it into the top ten and was also the only person from New England competing...They narrowed down the models by how well they photographed.

On June 2nd at 8pm..I will find out if I win or not...Regardless..I am very proud to know that I made it this far....If I win...That would be awesome!! No doubt about it!!

The show will not be shown up this way but more so down south....It is broadcast on the Maverick network which is link Spike TV.

On that note....I will try my best to keep all the posts current and up to date...Just keep in mind..I am going to be very in the next 4 days....Thank you for your support and understanding.

Sincerely,
Stewart

My daughter has done some photo shoots with several photographers. One in particular has gotten in touch with me & asked if (since it wasnt checked off on our omp site) if she would do swim wear for modeling. He told me that he was contacted by a major swimsuit company & asked to have three photos (two 2 pc shot s& one 1 pc shot) submitted for the possibility of being in their catalog for children. The cost would be $100 & then if chosen for the catalog a little more. First off, we have never allowed any swimsuit photos other than ones we have taken of her. Help me out here on the legitimacy of this. I am smart enough to have doubts but would like to know HOW to find out if this indeed is legitimate. My thoughts are IF the photographer is making this us (although I would hope not since I trust him) WHY? I do know I must be present & would insist if I was told I didnt have to be. I know I must sign a consent for & a modeling/photographer form -- BUT--I also know that those really dont mean much. Being with an agency is less worrisome but we just havent decided which offer to take. If any. Would really enjoy anyones thoughts---I dont care if they are negative or positive, I would like to hear some. Thank you.

A little boy that was in Taylors class named Brandon just found out he has bone cancer. The school sent home letters last wk--Taylor has lost her rat (Oreo) as well as her Black Lab (Katie) to cancer so even though she probably doesnt understand the seriousness of it in humans she does know how sad it can be--as well as knowing her pets had it & both died. Brandons mom is a single parent with 3 children. Brandon is undergoing chemo & I was explaining to Taylor how hard it must be financially on her--she asked if we could give them some money so I told her she could raise money if she wanted. Well, she did & she called in Bills for Brandon - or sometimes she says Bucks for Brandon--she has gone around the small town we live in (with me in tow) & explains to everyone what & why she is doing this fundraiser--she asks everyone for just $1. (many people give more!) So far she has raised $250 - out of the is a $100 Mobile Exxon card for fuel. She is hoping to raise another $200-$250.

I do apoligize for the typos, I was half asleep or awake L0L
Also I apologize for the random agency thing in my post and stewart may want to cut that part out ( I hope he does)
I had it copied to paste it into a report, and it must have iadvertently pasted.
Please Please Please to all the parents out there do not send their daughter's photos into that site. I read about the site on another pageant board and was disgusted by what I saw. I sent the link to someone who works in Children's Services to have them forward it on to the correct people.

Thanks a Bunch

Reminder, for those of you who would like hair assitance 0-10 and H&M for 11 and up we are available.
We have assisted many young ladeis at the state level and Shaenen and I also did H&M for a contestant at Miss & Mister Elegance.

We will be available for beauty e-mail for details, we will only take a handful as we do not want to rush and Shaenen has to get "beautified" as well for emcee duties :)
