Four year olds in Beauty are judged on Facial Beauty, Smile/Eye Contact, Poise and Appearance.....They are judged based on their age.....We tell judges 0-4 should never have points deducted for parents on stage with them, along the side, behind the judges, whatever makes them feel comfortable.
In Beauty they wear a nice dress and we will have X's on stage for them to stop at......At NES we will have queens there to help and the stage will be available to practice on both Friday night and Sat morning.
As far as H/M, we purposely have changed NES to Naturally Elegant and Simple to eliminate high extra costs associated with glitz pageants. Some of the H/M coming to our Nationals were charging $350 just for H/M. So we now are looking for a natural look, something anyone can do so you don't have to hire H/M artists. Under 11 should wear minimal makeup, maybe some blush and lip gloss, not much more and hair should be nice but not over done.
It's always good to give a different look between Beauty and say Casual. It just gives the judges a chance to see you in a different way between the different events.
Again, this is for our NES Maine and NES Nationals Pageant, every pageant is different
