THE LATEST RESULTS FROM MY POLLS
Girl 11,12yo, gynecologic and puberty assesment at home
I am female. It happened in Eastern Europe in 1980-1989 as 11 year old and 12 years old. My step-dad told me a doctor was coming to our house to give me a physical exam. I'd just started puberty and he said the exam was required by school. I was told to take a bath before the doctor arrived. I was given an enema and I was dressed in my pajamas. I was also told the exam would be thorough and different from others I'd had. The exam occurred at home.
This exam was set up by my step-father so I was the only one to have the exam. The exam was conducted in our kitchen with just my step-father the doctor and myself.
ARRANGEMENTS
A soft blanket was placed on the kitchen table and I laid on it for parts of the exam. Two chairs were placed at each the end of the table to support my legs for part of the exam. I got a traditional enema before the exam to clean out my stomach.
I was placed to lay on my back with my legs flexed up spread and mounted upon the two chairs. I did not get any anesthesia apart from lubricating and numbing cream into my vagina.
BREAST EXAM
After the normal parts of the exam I was required to take off my pajama top (I didn't wear a bra at that time).
The doctor looked at my breast which were very tiny at that time and then felt them with his hands. He did this with me standing and again while lying on my back.
ANAL EXAM
I was allowed to put my top back on, then told to remove my pajama pants and panties.
I was placed on my hands and knees on the table with my head down and bottom up. My temperature was taken in my bottom.
After that the doctor looked closely at my anal area inserted a finger and felt around for a bit then used a small scope to look inside. They took specimens from my anus with a tube.
My step-father was watching all this very closely. He also asked the doctor to spread my vulva in this position for a look at my openings and hymen.
GYNECOLOGICAL EXAMINATION
My position was changed so that I was lying on my back on the kitchen table (with the blanket under me). My bottom was placed at the edge of the table and the chairs were placed so that my feet could rest on them. Again I was nude from the waist down and my legs were wide apart. An exam light was set up so my female area was well lit. The doctor did an extensive examination of my outer labia by looking and feeling with his fingers. He applied a lot of clear lubricant to my vaginal opening so that he could insert a finger. It hurt too much so he couldn't. Instead he inserted a finger into my bottom and felt around for quite some time.
He had a very small scope like a tube with a handle that he inserted into my vagina. It hurt a little but I was able to stay in place. The scope was lighted so I'm sure he saw everything he needed to see. My step-dad also looked inside and commented on how my cervix was.
TEST OF PHYSIOLOGICAL REACTIONS
The next part was less medical. My top was removed so that I was completely nude. I was told that the last part was to see if my reproductive system was developing normally and without problems. (My step-dad had caught me masturbating twice before). My step-dad was told to use lotion on my chest and to rub my breasts to see if there was a response. The doctor continued to look at my vulva. The result was positive I began breathing harder and I did become wet. After drying my vulva off and allowing me to recover the doctor proceeded to rub different parts of my vulva to look for a response.
Almost everything he did resulted in my becoming excited. I was eventually allowed to dress for bed. My step-dad was told that I was developing normally and that I had well developed sexual response. He was given a tube of cream and told to run it into my vulva if I had any redness or soreness.
ARRANGEMENT AFTER THE EXAM
I went to bed. A bit sore the next morning. My step-dad used the cream on me several times a week. My temperature was always taken rectally so I was comfortable with him doing it. Usually after my bath. I'd either be place over his lap bottom exposed so he could apply the cream or on my hands and knees....with my bottom up. I had several more exams like the one I described during the next two years.
THE SCHOOL I ATTENDED
I went to some other type of school. I attended a private school where gifted children went and also participate in gymnastics.
COMMENTS
It is probably true that the exam was required by the school. The stepfather had probably got the obligation to watch for development signs and to report those, so that the exam could be done at the right time. The interest the stepfather showed was also probably because of that obligation.
Many societies subject children to such exams at certain development steps, and especially schools with gymnastics at the curriculum, because these schools tend to regulate the development of kids to be the best possible for copetition results. The tests of sexual reactions also seem to have that purpose.
The fact that the exam was done at home, was probably because they examined many kids this way, and they tried to overcome as many as possible in a short time, and with as little costs as possible.
Even though the things done was probably of order from the school, the doctor and stepfather might still have chosen a style of conducting it that gave them sexual gratification.

Girl, 13yo, North America, combined psychological and pelvic assessments
I am a female. This happened in North America 5 times in the late 1980es and beginning of 1990es, first time when I was 13 years old. I was examined in a health centre, taken there by mom in her car. A psychiatrist did the exam with my mom helping. Several other persons were also present in the waiting room.
OVERVIEW OF THE EXAMINATIONS PERFORMED
They examined my genitals. They did a general examination of my pelvic zones. They performed a psychological exam. They made interrogations about my social relations and my daily life.
They also spent a lot of time looking at my feet and toenails.

I was totally naked. I was very embarrassed to be naked in front of the psychiatrist and my mom
THE EXAM STEP BY STEP
Right in the waiting room my mom pulled my dress off and took my sandals. The room was half full Then waited several minutes, then brought me to the exam room. Then held my arms and legs so the psychiatrist could see all of my body openly. They then took measurements of my arms and legs, breasts land labia with photos. Thereafter did a full pelvic exam. They also did a breast exam.
I was placed out in the waiting room again naked and told not to cover myself.
JUDGEMENT
What do you think was the reason for this exam? I think because I told my mom I didn't want to wear sandals or let people see my feet What is your opinion about thios experience? I can't believe how many people saw me totally naked!
GENITAL AND URINARY EXAM
They did not examine my urinary system. They palpated my outer female genitals. They spread my genital lips to look inside. They also asked me to masturbate so they could collect a fluid sample but I was too embarrassed.
They spread my cheeks and examined extarnelly my rectal zone.
PSYCHOLOGICAL EXAM
The psychological part covered a lot of weird subjects. I can't even talk about it all.
FOLLOW-UPS
New exams as follow up please specify: I was brought to this same clinic 5 more times over 3 years Psychological or social counceling as follow up: each exam seemed to spend more time focusing on my changing body and how I felt about it. Other kind of follow-up: mom started coming in my room a lot while I was changing saying she needed to see my body.
COMMENTS
It looks like this exam sequence was an investigation of possible sexual abuse of the girl or participation of the girl in abusive bahavior with other children.
From that time and onwards there have been massive campains going on towards parents telling that any unusual behavior was sign of abusive relationships, and parents were told to report.
But this grossly exaggerated propaganda also seem to have the purpose to get as many children reported as possible, so that they can be used in research projects. It looks that this also was a research project regarding the connection between body development and psychological reactions.
The ages of the people in the waiting room are not told, but these were probably observers from the project, the child protective services and the police that made their notes.
If there were children in the waiting room, however, they were probably examined likewise in other rooms, but somebody surely observed how the naked children bahved together.
The mother also seems to have got involved as a helper in the project.
Over and over again there are reports that authorities investigating child abuse bring children into embarrassing situations as a part of the investigation to get results, and this is just one more of these cases. It always looks like they care more for the intergrity of the social framework of society, than for the wellfare of the child.

Girl 10yo, North America, pediatric gynecology exam for research and teach
I am female. It happened in North America. 1990-1999 10 years old Nothing was said more then that I had a check up booked. My parents drove me to the exam. Other type of place. Other selection criteria. It was a clinic exam room / theatre type place in a university.
PREPARATIONS AND ANESTHESIA
I was not allowed to eat some time before the exam. I got a traditional enema before the exam to clean out my stomach. I mostly only had my underwear on the time I stayed awake. I had to take all my clothes off just before I got anesthesia. They placed me upon an advanced surgical table. I was placed to lay on my back with my legs flexed up spread and mounted upon two devices.
I got IVs tubes into blood vessels in an arm. I got a device on a finger or a toe to measure pulse and oxygen in my blood. I got a blood pressure monitor wrapped around an arm or a toe.
I got electrodes on my cheast. I got a tube or wire in through my urethra. I got anesthesia through tubes into my blood vessels. I got anesthesia gas to breath in through a mask. I got some numbing and lubricating cream injected into my urinary opening. The anesthesia made me relaxed but I was conscious. The anesthesia made me sleep mostly but I woke up occationally.
I remember laying on the bed the mask was over my face and they injected into the cannula in my arm. Before it took effect someone grabbed my legs and spread me in the stirrups didn't wait till I was under.
EXAMINATION WITH EXTERNAL EQUIPMENT
They performed an ECG, functional test of the heart function with electrodes on my chest and other body areas. They examined my genitals with an ultrasound device.
INTERNAL INSPECTIONS
They took specimens from my urethra with a tube. They took specimens from my bladder with a tube. They used a speculum in my vagina. They took specimens from my vagina with a tube. They inspected my vagina with a scope. The doctor explored my vagina with a finger. The doctor explored my anus with a finger.
ARRANGEMENTS AFTERTHE EXAM
I had IVs into blood vessels. I had electrodes on my body. I had catheter into my bladder. I lay naked under a blanket after the exam. Given hospital disposable panties with a thick pad to wear.
THE SCHOOL I ATTENDED
I attended ordinary daytime school.
COMMENTS
This was a standard pediatric gynecology examintion, but probably combined with a cystoscopy and a sigmoidoscopy during the time she was not awake.
The purpose seems to be research and teaching of students. Her parents possibly got money for letting the douhgter be used this way, or free medical services. The EEG might also be for teaching. Of course the ordeal also served as a health check that many kids in that age go through in sertain societiesm but very little spoken about.

Teenage boy, extensive exam of all body parts with class.
I am a male. I was a teenager. Year 2000 or after. In western Europe. I was examined at school. School nurse along with community doctor did the exam.
Who was also present during the exam? our class.
OVERVIEW OF THE EXAMINATION
They examined my head teeth or jaws. They did an orthopedic exam. They examined the organs inside my chest. They examined my organs inside my stomach. They examined my genitals. They examined my rectal zone. They did a general examination of my pelvic zones.
They inserted instruments into my mouth. They inserted instruments into my urinary opening, some tube. They performed a neurologic exam with electrodes on my body. They performed an electrocardiogram of my heart. They performed a exam with electrodes on my head.
They performed a full functional test of my breathing heart and blood circulation under workload.
They performed a psychological exam. They made interrogations about my social relations and my daily life.
They took x-rays of the examined areas. They took tomographic x-ray scans of the examined areas. They took MMR-scans of the examined areas. They took ultrasound pictures of the examined areas.
They scanned the examined areas after injection of a radioactive isotope or contrast fluid. They examined my blood vessels or heart with a catheter inserted into a blood vessel.
ARRANGEMENTS AND ANESTHESIA
I was given sadative or pain-killing medicines through my mouths. I was sedated but awake. I was naked at the examined body parts and at my genital/rectal zone but elsewere clothed.
My positions during the exam: mostly lying on my back on exam table.
THE EXAMINATION TEP BY STEP
First they had me swollow pill that made my body all relaxed. Them lifted me up on table and undressed me. Thereafter they restrained my arms to table in case i'd accidently whip around. Then examined my body parts including genitalia. Then they inserted the tube thing into my urethra. They also photographed every procedure/test.
The exam ended by putting my clothes back on while asking me social and private questions.
JUDGEMENT
What do you think was the reason for this exam? was scary at the time but quite exciting to look back on. What is your opinion about this experience? totally fine.
DETAILS ABOUT THE URINARY AND GENITAL EXAM
They used a catheter to collect urine. I do not remember exactly how they further examined my urinary system but they did something down there.
They palpated my outar male genitals and testicles. They perormed a ultrasound exam on my genitals including my testicles. They collected a semen specimen by means of prostate massage through my rectum. They examined my prostate with an ultrasound sond into my anus. They palpated my prostate with a finger into my rectum.
DETAILS ABOUT TEH RECTAL EXAM
They spread my cheeks and examined extarnally my rectal zone. They examined my rectum with an inserted finger. They inserted a speculum into my anus to examine it internally. They took some measurements inside my rectum or bowel with a long tube-like instrument.

COMMENTS
This is basically a standard procedure that all or many kids in selected communities go through at specific age levels but it seems that it was extended with certain procedures for research, for example scan after injecting isotopes and MMR.
It seems like a specialist team had established a preliminary clinic in localities in the scool and brought equipment with them and thereafter they probably moved to another school.
The community doctor and the school nurse were there propbably most as helpers , and other specialists did the exam, but due to anesthesia they are probably not well remembered.
The urinary exam was probably a cystosopy. The instrument inserted through his anus to take specimens and measurements was probably a sigmoidoscope.
Even though the procedures were intrusive, they was performed in a gently way, apparently, that did not cause pain even though he was motsly awake.
The x-rays and isotope scan were not any good things, though, since they can cause harmful effects that last.

Girl 12yo Eastern Europe Cystoscopy at school for research
My doughter had cystoscopy. The exam took place in Eastern Europe when she was 12 years old in the period 2000-2004. She had cystoscopy in the doctor's or nurse's office at school.
PREPARATIONS
We got an accurate explanation of what should be done and the reason. They took vitals like temperature, heart rate and blood pressure. A doctor came, asked questions and explained. A consent formula was presented and signed.
She got lubricating and pain-killing fluid inserted in through her urethra, and got a shot to calm down and make sleepy. She had gown around her but the lower body was naked. She lay on back with legs in stirrups.
HOW THE PROCEDURE WAS DONE
They put a flexible snake-like cystoscope in through the urethra. Other additional exams.
REASONS AND JUDGEMENT
The procedure was a part of a research project. It was not any big deal.
COMMENTS
Cystoscopy and other pelvic inspections are so common in the preteen period that most children experience it in many societiesm both girlsd and boys. Frequent reasons are screening for diseases and abormalities, research about development, researching frequency of diseases and microbes in the young population and screening for sexual abuse or disappoved sexual habits.
The responder indicated other additional exams. It is highly possible that they also inspected her vagina and anus too, or used ultrasound probes through her anus and at her stomach, since cystoscopy alone seems somewhat incomplete for such a research project, but that she did not recognize it clearly because she was sleepy from the anesthesia.
These procedures are not painful or disstressful if performed gently and with analgesic lubridation and some calming medication, as also indicated by the responder. General anesthesia are seldom necessary by these procedures, but still this is often used.
It seems however that the girl got so much sedative medicine that it was difficult to rememember, which often is the main purpose of this medication.
