Subject: I think your apperance has some effect on the judging but not totally....more inside
In reply to: dnamcer 's message, "feises" on 17:13:23 17/04/07 Tue

My example:

a girl is in a brand new beautifully made $2000 dress, but slouches, toes are in, off time and she never smiles,

she's competing against a girl in a beginner blouse and skirt, excellent posture, great turn out, stays on time, and smiles....

now who do you think is going to place better? It's clear that the girl in the beginner blouse and dress is going to place higher. but in some cases i don't think thats the way it is.

The dress shouldn't be the judging factor of the competition, but i do also think that the appearance of the dancer does have an affect, for example if an adjudicator is having a hard time picking a winner because both of their dancing is exceptional they might start looking for things to mark a dancer down such as dress, posture, shoes, turnout, anything basically.
