PROTECTION AGAINST THE SUN

You should enjoy the sunshine with reason. Some daily exposure from sun-rays on the skin will not hurt. On the contrary, it will in fact do your skin good. The skin gets a better colour, and it gets somewhat thicker and more robust. Massive daily exposure, however, has a very disturbing influence on the skin, and will cause all types of skin problems: Wrinkles, brown spots, discolouring, very thin or very thick skin, dry skin and cancer. To keep your skin young and healthy in the long run, you must protect your skin when you are outside for longer times.

TAKING LECITHIN

You should take some supplement of lecithin or a product containing lecithin. Lecithin is a fatty substance. It is an important constituent of all body tissues. It consists of glycerol, fatty acids, cholin, ethanolamine, inositol and serine. The four latter constituents are working tools used in nerve signal transmission and in tissue regeneration. Lecithin is especially important for the function and regeneration of nerve tissue and the skin. Lecithin also has a cleansing effect upon the skin. It helps the sebaceous gland to produce cleansing secretions. Taking a daily dose of lecithin alone or a product containing lecithin will greatly help to keep the skin young and regenerate the skin from damage.

EATING FISH AND SEA-FOOD

A dish of fish or seafood at least every second day has proven to keep the skin in good condition and help the skin to avoid sun damage. You should include fat fish, since fat fish has an especially high content of vitamin A and D, important for the skin health.

CONSUMING OLIVE OIL AND OTHER NATURAL OILS

Using olive oil in your dishes will help to keep your skin young, and help the skin to regenerate from damage and aging symptoms. Olive oil contains much mono-unsaturated acids and much of vitamin E. However, your skin will also need essential poly-unsaturated fatty acids. Therefore you should also consume some amount of other types of oils or supplements containing poly-unsaturated oils especially valuable for your skin. Other plant oils with fatty acids beneficial for your skin are: Evening Primrose Oil, Flax Seed Oil, Borage Oil, Soy Oil, and Wheat Germ Oil.


TAKING CONJUGATED LINOLAEIC ACID (CLA)

CLA is a fatty acid produced in the stomach of cows by bacteria, taken up into the cow's blood-stream and secreted into the milk. This acid has shown to help the skin regenerate from damage and keep the skin in a juvenile state. Taking CLA as a supplement may help you get finer skin, and also help you to keep your weight at a wanted level. Fat milk and diary products also contain CLA and can improve your skin health. However, great amounts of fat diary products are not good for your heart and circulation.


THE DAILY CARE OF YOUR SKIN

The skin should be washed at least once every day with a mild soap or cleansing product. Men should shave during the wash or after the wash, depending upon the shaving method used. Then you should use some oil or cream to protect your skin and to make it smooth and elastic. you can a product containing natural oils with anti-aging properties, and some pure oils like argan oil, extra virgin olive oil or sunflower oil can be applied on the skin for the same puposes.

The natural oil squalan can also be used upon the skin with very strong rejuvenating effects, but if you use this oil daily, it should be blended with another oil because excessive use can irritate. Before exposing your skin to heavy sunshine for a longer time, you should also use some additional product with sun-shield. If you have used a product with sun-shield or make-up during the day, this should be washed away in the evening, and a new layer of protecting cream laid on.

More basic washing and care that that outlined here, is not necessary, and may in fact damage your skin. The same is true for heavy use of make-up.


DON'T SMOKE

Smoking has a very negative effect upon the skin in the long run, and will cause a lot of wrinkles.


USE OF NATURAL OILS UPON YOUR SKIN

Both women and men can use certain vegetable oils and other natural oils to keep the skin young, healthy and beautiful. Pure virgin olive oil of good quality is one of these. Another oil that can be recommended is argan oil. Another useful natural substance for the purpose is squalane. This is a hydrocarbon naturally produced in human body, the body of marine animals and in certain plants.

You can use pure olive oil and argan oil, or a blending of these directly upon the skin. Squalane is already a component of these oils. You can add extra squalane to the blending to enhance the effect, but this substance can give irritations if it is used in pure form regularly.

Olive oil of good quality can easily be obtained in any supermarket or alimentary store. Argan oil or squalane may be obtained in drug stores, certain general warehouses or by purchase through internet.

These oils will reduce inflammation and stimulate healing of all types of skin injuries. They also counteract injuries from excessive sun exposure. They probably do not screen out ultraviolet rays in the sun in the same way as lotions and creams with sunscreen. They should not be used instead of sunscreen by lengthy sun exposure.


A PRACTICAL METHOD TO REJUVENATE YOUR SKIN BY MEANS OF NATURAL OILS

There are many ways of utilizing these oils for the benefit of the skin health and beauty. Here is a practical procedure that is fine to use a couple of times each week:

- First take a warm shower and wash all your body with a mild soap.

- Flush away all the soap.


- Then dry all your body with a clean towel and wait some minutes to you are completely dry.

- Then smear the oil of choise onto all of your body and in your face. Use so much that you feel there is an excess of oil all over you.

- Then wait some minutes. During this time you can massage yourself with your hands or let another person do the massage to work the oil well into your skin.

- Then take a new warm shower, but without soap this time. Now most of the excessive oil will run off during the shower.

- Lastly dry all your body with a new clean dry towel. The towel will absorb the remains of excessive oil.

After this procedure your skin will be saturated with oil, but not excessively. The skin will feel smooth, look shiny and feel comfortable after the procedure.

A man can use the procedure after having shaved. If you have a strong hair growth on your body, the procedure works best if you shave your body skin first during the first shower.

How to Keep Yourself Young and Healthy

The aging process is for the greater part no mystery anymore. It consists for a great part of daily damages done on the macroscopic, tissue, cellular and genetic levels. These add up as the years are passing. These damages have specific causes like oxidating agents, sun beams, mechanical wear and tear, psychological stress, lack of some nutritional components and too much of others, like fat.

Another component of aging is the reduction of the telomere chains at the chromosome ends, as each cell division occurs. When these are shortened enough, cells stop dividing. However, the body has means to repair these ends again, with an enzyme called telomerase. The rapidity of the aging process depends on lack of efficiency in this repair process. The above mention aging causes also slow down this repair process.

The factors causing aging, also causes other diseases like cancer and coronary heart disease. Both aging and these diseases can in great extend be prevented with the knowledge possessed today, and the damages can in great extend be reversed. The components to achieve this are:

-Adequate daily food containing whole cereals, peas, beans, vegetables, fruit, fish, mushrooms, fouls and seafood, and with just a moderate amount of red meat.

-Just a moderate amount of fat.

-Ideally most fat one eats, should be of the type mono-unsaturated. One also needs some poly-unsaturated fat of the types omega-3, and omega 6, but not too much of omega-6. The consumption of saturated fat should be very little.

- In order to achieve right fat balance, most of the fat supply should come from sources like olive, peanuts, canola, fish, nuts, sun-flower, etc. Then you will get a good balance between mono-unsaturated fat (olive, canola, peanuts), poly-unsaturated fat of the omaga-3-type (fish) and poly-unsaturated fat of the omega-6-type (sunflower).

-Just a very moderate amount of butter, soy oil, margarine, corn oil and palm oil. A high consumption of these fat sources gives you too much saturated fat and poly-unsaturated omega-6-fat.

-Just a very moderate amount of sugar, refined flour or refined cereals.

-Do not add more salt to the food than you need. Most people consume too much salt. However, some salt is needed. If the weather is warm and you are in high activity, you need more salt than by cold weather and low activity. Prefer sea-salt, because of its content of valuable minerals.

-Just a moderate consumption of tranquilizers/stimulants as alcohol and caffeine, but in moderate amounts these contribute to slow down the aging process.

-No smoking or tobacco usage.

-Supplements of specific nutritional components like vitamins, minerals, lecithin and some essential fatty acids.

-Adequate training that both gives a muscular load, work up your condition and stretches out your body. To stretch out, yoga-exercises are ideal.

-Adequate rest and stress-reduction. Daily meditation is a method of achieving this. Natural relaxing agents or specific tools for meditation or relaxation may also be useful.

-Supplements of specific anti-aging agents like anti-oxidants or human growth hormone.

-Use of specific anti-aging agents to apply upon the skin surface.

-To protect the skin against excessive sun exposure.

The amount one needs of nutritional supplements, like vitamins and minerals, differs very much according to a person’s health condition, work load and exposure to environmental stress. A person having a poor digestion, doing high performance sport or being exposed to a high amount of environmental stressors, may need more than a person in an average situation.
