If he isn;t placing very well when there are other boys/girls (depending on region), then maybe the TC needs to help him look at what is holding him back and begin a specific plan to work on it. If he is motivated, he will try hard. Sometimes moving to PC can be a tough experience for a young one, it was for my son, but I dont regret it at all. it taught him what the real deal in compettion really was. He wanted it badly enough to work very hard, and fianlly begin to place in PC, move on to OC, and feel great about it. Each kid is different. Your TC needs to let him know what her reasons are for what decisions she makes.
