Author: the boys that beat 30 kids, boys OR girls, are the ones that deserve to win
Subject: I think if there are ever "boy points" in a champ comp, it is just a placement - not a top three as most kids are looking for.

My response is the % of placements are the same. Maybe smaller comps all together, but smaller % place. So you may have 150 at regionals and we may have 20-50 depending on the region, but actuallity is that more girls recall than the boys. (girls top 70 perhaps and guys top 12+/-).
I also go on to mention that he's dances w/girls when he goes to different regions and he still places high and wins dance offs, not because he's a guy, but because he works hard. Alot of the guys at championship level are truely dedicated because the peir pressure of their choice of activity puts them in the direct line of fire of being different. If the boys have endured that, they love what they do w/all their hearts. That is what makes them stand out. I am glad not to deal w/the make up and the dresses. I am proud of my son as they should be proud of their daughters for following his heart and his dreams. Dont let them spoil it for any of us.

I got wrapped up in all the boy versus girls stuff for a VERY short while, but it was really casting a shadow on the real joy of watching my DS do something he LOVES. Life is too short to dwell on the negative side of things...so I can only glance quickly at some of the other boards then I have to exit due to some of the comments on everything, not just the boy thing. Go boys and girls!
