This photo was published on 15th October. Miss Canada, Joyce Landry, has an opinion all her own about Hollywood and she describes it this way: “It’s a hovel of big-time, small-time, all-time phonics”. Joyce returned to her home in Toronto after 12 weeks of Hollywood, Las Vegas and Long Beach, subsequent to her entry in the Miss Universe 1954 contest. She earned $1,050 during the 12 weeks of appearing in night clubs and making a short movie, but she has only $25 to show for her effort when she returned home. “I’m not going back to Hollywood and I’m glad I gave no one my home address,’ says Joyce.
