Subject: Exit Unicorns, Chapters 23, 24 and 25

Chapter 23, The Scent of Violets

~ Casey returns from his trip bearing gifts; one of them, quite unusual. There is a heavy air of tension between them. Pamela has put off intimacy since his return, but now reluctantly gives in. Casey is aware that she has been lying to him.

Q: What is the link between F. Scott Fitzgerald's The Great Gatsby and Robert Frost's poem, Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening?

Chapter 24, A Brief History of Time

~ Pamela visits Jewish clock- and watchmaker, Herr Blumfeld. He is able to read and translate Arabic. She leaves her Arabic manuscript in his possession, after being given a tour of his many unusual clocks.

Q: Whether it was a description of one of the clocks or something regarding Herr Blumfeld's past, was there any one specific aspect in this chapter that you feel is particularly symbolic to Exit Unicorns? Or symbolic to one or more characters?

Chapter 25, My Brother

~ The truth is revealed to Casey.

~ Also in this chapter we are introduced to the work of Archibald Swansea, Esq. It would appear that the Arabic manuscript was nothing more than a bawdy tale.

Q: This is another example of how, in the end, the truth will out. Who has made the greater sacrifice - Pamela, with her weeks of silence, or Casey, as he attempts to mend the breach he created?
