Subject: Part Four: When the Dark Night Seems Endless….

What a fitting title for this section…and it was one for which I felt drawn. I have been in similar shoes, husband away for a long time, lonely nights, and an aspect of danger to where he is. I hope that I will do justice to this section of the book.

Chapter 45: Letter from Beyond

1. Again, we see Pamela in a risk taking role. How did you feel about what she was doing? What did you think would happen?
2. Pamela finds information she believes proves that Brian Riordan was murdered. Who do you think is sending this information to her? What is the significance of this knowledge now?

Chapter 46: Truth and Consequences

1. This chapter begins with Pamela sharing what she has found at the office with Pat. Pat then tells Pamela his "truth" about the events surrounding his father's death. His story reveals more about Casey also. Were you surprised that Pat knew it wasn't an accident? How about when Pamela said that Casey hadn't really told her much?

2. At the end of this chapter, more truth is revealed as Pat tells Pamela that he see's the feelings between she & Jamie. "...but somehow the love ye bear him doesn't seem to affect what ye give my brother. If I felt it was takin' somethin' vital from him I'd be the first to complain, but somehow ye manage. I'll not say I'd like to be in Casey's shoes at times, though.." (pg. 398) Do you think this comment carries some underlying meaning or is just an observation on Pat's part?
