Subject: Part Four: When the Dark Night Seems Endless….

Chapter 54: Midnight Secrets

Overall this chapter really shows a lot of similarities between Jamie and Pamela – stubborn, risk-taking, and “meddling” (to use Pamela’s description of Jamie on page 429). Both are playing with fire and seem to have no problem calling the other out about it.

1. What did you think about the overall exchange between these two? What about Pamela’s jealousy of Belinda & Nelson McGlory?

2. The last line of the chapter is, “It does go without saying. It always has.” Pamela says this to Jamie. What do you think Pamela is trying to say here?

I don’t have any other questions on this chapter – any thoughts/observations are welcome! *g*

Chapter 55: Fire, Fleet and Candlelight

Another emotional chapter with Pamela at the center of so much loss: The loss of her informant at the hands of two unknown thugs and, more importantly, the loss of another child. I don’t really have any questions, but do have a favorite line:

“An unavoidable truth, “she said quietly, “is a confession of the soul.” (pg 451)

Consider this your “free skate” chapter – all comments and observations welcome! *g*
