Subject: Part Four: When the Dark Night Seems Endless….

So lets see if I can get these chapter numbers right tonight!! *g*

Chapter 51: The White Doe

1. Pamela remembers a line from Tennyson's The Lady of Shallot. I wasn't familiar with the poem, so I looked it up. Click on The Lady of Shallot to read the whole poem. Pamela compares herself to the Lady of Shallot. Both are "punished" (or perceived to be punished) by a higher power for choices they have made. How do you feel about this theory? Do you think things like Charma exist? Or is there something psycholigical going on that brings us to believe we are being punished for actions we made against our own beliefs? Or "C", all of the above. :-)

2. We see Jamie feeding this beautiful white dove. He seems to have a way with animals and people. They feel safe in his presence. Did any of you see Jamie resembling some other "safe" person? (Okay, I am leading you all here...I want to see if anyone see's what I see. Hope that's not too selfish of me!)

Chapter 52: Visiting Day

Another difficult and emotional chapter. Jamie helps Pamela get a pass to visit Casey. We see two very hurt people as Casey and Pamela have this emotional exchange.

1. Do you think the 12 foot "no man's land" is a significant piece of imagery?

2. After a difficult discussion, Casey show's Pamela his lashing wounds. This is a drastic move - Do you think it was effective in getting his point across?

3. Finally, Pamela's visit has one positive result: Casey's plotting his escape! What do you think was the deciding factor?
