Subject: 22-1) This one statement made me email Cindy when I was reading. I am very conscious of telling my children how beautiful (clever, sweet etc) they are from early on as I did not receive this from my parents. I am quite sure the lack of it leads to cracks in the foundation of the child's self esteem which sets up choices and feelings for later life. That feeling of confidence, acceptance and beauty as their right is a wonderful gift to give a child. When we were children I always remember my mother saying how nice my sister looked. Her coloruing is more like mum's side of the family, I am a throwback to somewhere as I don't look like any of them, and I think parents sometimes look for the familiar to appreaciate in their child. He has a look of so and so etc.

  • 22-2 I don;t think it is restricted to musicians but they are certainly portrayed as glamorous etc. It is the age old bad boy attraction, just in its musical guise I think. On the other hand, the thought of Casey playing the bodhran makes me weak at the knees so what do I know? (NT) -- Sheila, 20:01:27 09/15/07 Sat
  • That bad boy image is so true. They say Mozart had devoted followers (Austrian groupies??). Maybe he was a bad boy in those days, too. (NT) -- Elaine, 21:02:22 09/15/07 Sat
