Jeff, the reunion race is "usually" the weekend before Labor day weekend. That would put it on Aug. 25, if they stick to their usual schedule, but Ken would probably know for sure about this year.

COME ON NOW .....PULL YOUR HEADS OUT OF YOUR ASSES FOR A MINUTE AND GO CHECK SOME OF THESE CARS. SAME PERSON WINNING MOST OF THE TIME??? PRAIRIE HILL NEEDS A QUALIFIED TECH MAN. DOES THE TRACK PERSONNEL NEED TRAINING ON WHAT TO LOOK FOR. TELL YOU WHAT WHEN YOU LOOSE ALL YOUR BRACKET RACERS THEN SOMETHING MIGHT BE DONE. HERE IS YOU SOMETHING TO LOOK AT.THE ONLY WAY TO STOP PEOPLE FROM USING ELECTRONICS IS HAVE THEM REMOVED FROM THE CARS AND WHEN YOU WIN BE CALL STRAIGHT TO TECH TO GET YOUR CAR CHECKED OUT BY THE TECH MAN TO MAKE SURE YOU ARE LEGAL. THIS IS THE ONLY FAIR WAY FOR THE OTHER DRIVERS AND CAR OWNERS THAT ARE HONEST CLEAN PEOPLE THAT DON'T CHEAT.
Footbrake Only Class- NON ELECTRONICS
DELAY BOX MUST BE OUT OF THE CAR
This is a foot brake only class. Launch is to be controlled by the driver
using the foot brake. Line locks allowed for burnout only. Car can only
have one line lock installed. No trans brake allowed on car PERIOD unhooked or not,NO delay box,TIMERS,RPM ACTIVATED SHIFTERS of any kind,NO 2-step,
throttle stops, or any electronic or automatic launch control ALLOWED IN THE CAR AT ANY TIME DURING THE EVENT.
ANY DRIVER CAUGHT CHEATING WILL FORFEIT ALL POINTS FOR SEASON.

Have done this, ask Ken he is aware of this but has neglected to appointment/hire a DRAG RACE KNOWLEDGEABLE tech PERSON. There are plenty qualified people in his area that would make good/fair tech man/or woman.IT IS NO SECRET THAT this has been brought up in the past SEVERAL TIMES. I ran electronics bracket last night and was surprised to find that many of the other racers in that class were not using their electronics at all. They were foot braking just like it was a no-e bracket. Not sure why they even call it an electronics bracket. Maybe we should run a "run what you brung" bracket so there is no controversy with the box/no box issue. And, I agree with some of the tech comments. We need some sort of tech for safety reasons.

I hate that it has come to this. I don't deny I think there's been some cheating, but like it is said, it's an 'outlaw' track, so it is what it is. Without tech, this can happen One's purpose of racing, is for the fun of it, for the adrenolin rush and for competition. If I weren't competitive , I wouldn't have signed up for points racing. it's only fair, if you race fair.
I feel I have had a pretty good relationship with most everyone racing, even my competitors. Not everyone can be a friend though. The great thing about Prairie Hill racing, is that many friendships have formed and no one minds helping out the other guy, even it being your competitor. Everyone wants to win, but in the end, it's a fun time and if you come up short, gotta try to do better next time. Everyone knows my struggle this year has been to go green. I finally found it, then Damn that red light!!!

I think if time trials start at 7 then you should be there.or at least before eliminations are schedule to begin, If eliminations are to begin at 9 that is when they should start regardless who is there. This should be for brackets and heads up classes.

I was in a accident several years ago at the Hill before Mr. Tucker took it over. It seems a el camino made a pass just before me with his tailgate down & the bed full of beer bottles, guess where they went. The track personal cleaned up but must have missed some pieces because when I made the next pass , I picked up a piece of glass in my front tire & it blew out. I took out the timing lights and ended up in the field on the other side of the track near where peaple now park. It did a bunch of damage to my car, It is still not fixed but no one was hurt. This is just a sample of what happens at any track

Re: Bewitched Wreck -- Another Spectator, 14:44:02 07/23/12 Mon [1]
Never have posted here but, after the wreck this weekend I had some strong opinions. Not 10 minutes before the wreck I had just complained to parents they needed to get their kids off the wall or something like this could happen! I have seen several racers drink and drive out here. I do remember them announcing that drivers need to make sure they aren't drinking but, several ignored the message. To many things this racing season have hit close to home and this should make drivers and spectators aware that a freak accident can happen at any moment. Another thing that has bugged me is spectators getting in the way when medics are needed. Those medics don't have a clue what they will be dealing with it could be nothing or it could be something major that needs a air lift. So when it all boils down to it, nobody should be drinking and driving and spectators need to be farther back from the wall. This could have turned deadly very quickly if a kid or even adult would have been standing there.

Re: Bewitched Wreck -- Hemiracer1, 18:30:41 07/25/12 Wed [1]
People DO need to be aware that if they stand near the wall that they are at risk of injury or worse. I have had a bad wreck at the Hill, to no fault of the Hills track but rather to my own mistakes, but I was lucky enough (if you call that luck) to roll over into the return lanes and not into the spectators but it could have happened that way. Of course, when a car goes OVER the wall, then there is NOT a safe distance from the wall. A race car doing donuts in the grass at full throttle is not safe at any distance. Gene seems like a nice guy and I want to be clear that I am not about to attack him in any way. His choice of driving shoes might be a better choice to wear rubber soled shoes and not cowboots while racing. All of the events of the wreck that night might be attributed to his foot slipping off of the brake onto the gas. Just don't place judgement on Gene too soon.
I am just saying.

Re: PHD Events Page BLANK? -- Hemiracer1, 18:04:29 07/16/12 Mon [1]
To clarify my statement about racer participation making for better track improvements, it stands to reason, at least to me anyways, that if more racers and faster cars come to the track that there would be more profits made that would then provide the funds to make the needed improvements that would bring cars fast enough to lay more rubber down track, which in my opinion is why I can not make a full pass anymore. Not enough rubber on the rough rocky surface to get enough traction to hold this many horses. I think the track needs surfacing with grinders to remove the raised rocks so that a tire will bite on 100% of its contact patch, not just 40%. I can not advertise the track or upcoming events. I have just about stopped coming to PHD. The last four outings and not one full pass. I have more clutch out of it now and power taken out of it than EVER before and still can not make a full pass. Kinda of discouraging to me.

If he was placed at the bottom of the ladder and he made an 8 car field for a full payout then where's the problem? What spectator wants to see a car in competition make a bye run. Sounds like the guy was economical and smart. I give him credit for knowing his car and doing his job on the tree. Now if he was using an electronic device such as a throttle stop well then that's a whole different issue.

Re: Observation of 5.80 Class -- AlfredWhiteside, 20:10:15 06/25/12 Mon [1]
It’s evident that the persons making the statements in defense of the racer in question; knows nothing about an organized race show. Sure the fans like side by side action, but the rules say you have to qualify. Now if this racer had truly cared about the fans, he would have made a qualified run just like everyone else. Any true fan of drag racing enjoys the show much more when the rules are followed. But as it was shown this particular racer had a plan and it worked. It amazes me that people can have such a misunderstanding of the sport that they would defend un-sportsman like conduct. It just shows that they have no clue how a race should be run. It has nothing to do with the mechanics of the car or the racer knowing his car. The problem is that he did not make an attempt to qualify; therefore not following the rules! That is where I’m saying he played the field. There again I have to say….some of the responsibility lies on the organizer. It makes you wonder how experienced these racers are, and also the ones defending him. I guarantee you that a racer could not go to any other qualified show and get in the show without qualifying. Observation of 5.80 Class -- Alfred Whiteside, 22:42:55 06/25/12 Mon [1]
Here is some of the contents of a personal email that was sent to me concerning this subject. Sender is Summer. Thought it would shed a light on this conversation:
"I saw your post on the prairie hill board today so thought I would take a minute to drop you a line.
Paul took his car to test it. He did not even know there was a 5.80 class going on. He also did not know they didn't have nitrous either. He hasn't had his car out very much at all. Just got it fixed last week. The track came to him and asked him to run in the race because it would give them a full 8 car field. He was low on nitrous and told them that. He told them if they wanted him to qualify he would. But, they told him he didn't have to.
He ended up by chance winning the class race. He had to earn it for sure. He has no bracket aids on his car. He also had no idea what his car was going to do. He had a good time just racing for once.Just thought I would let you know what was going on.
The track talked him into it."
This was my response in return:
I have no reason to doubt what you say. However, that being said, Paul should have inquired about the other racers agreeing to him running without qualifying.
As for him earning it...I don't agree...He was given a freebee chance and made it. Earning it would have included qualifying for his spot.
I feel strongly that we who know the rules of the game should stand up for the integrity of the show. Otherwise it will in time become a show that is weak and stands for no certain rules or rights for the racers.

Re: Observation of 5.80 Class -- Racer_Jeff, 11:49:28 06/26/12 Tue [1]
I would like to respond to this line of posts started by Alfred Whiteside. First let me say that our group(Outlaw 580) is an All Run field. Qualifying only gets you a spot on the ladder based on your performance. We have allowed other racers in the past to enter the field without qualifying. We do this to try to work with everyone that may be having problems or getting to the track late. We let Chris run without qualifying 2 races ago and we offered to let Wilmer to run with us 3 races ago when he arrived at the track after qualifying had been completed. So, the precedent had been set prior to Paul even coming to the track.
Secondly, I take full responsibility for allowing Paul to race with us. He explained his situation and I approved his decision to not make a qualifying pass. I do not feel that he "played" us...rather he ran his car much better than all the other racers, except Rick Russell. All of the regular 580 racers were not on their game this past Saturday and deserved to get beat....me included. When the best qualifying pass was a 5.87 in a 5.80 race....well that is simply put poor performance.
Third and final response.....I think the way this issue was handled was in poor judgement. I was at the track and could have been spoken to in person. I am open to any ideas and any constructive criticism. There is a right way to handle every issue...and there is a chicken shit way to handle them. Everyone is entitled to their opinion...but let's be gentlemen(and ladies) about it and just race and have fun.
If further conversation with me is needed please see me at the track on most Saturdays.
Sincerely, Jeff Denton

So now that it is said and done...... I can tell you Paul had a great time running with the group. -- Summer, 12:53:47 06/26/12 Tue [1]
I have ran organized groups for several years and I will do what it takes to improve the group and make it better for the fans. Even if he qualified low on the ladder he still had to run the fast guy. It's an index! Can't run a game on an index his chances of breaking out are the same as anyone else. And with the track conditions can't say you will be a 5.800 . It's great that he agreed to run with the class WIN or LOSE. He was just having fun and got to go rounds.
Also, all this makes the class sound like a lot of fun now and if I had a dog in the hunt I would run it too.
Side: hope to see you back out sometime with yours!
Sincerely

Not much I can add to what's already been said, but.... Paul is a very good friend of mine. He came by my shop on his way to Prairie Hill, the first time that he had ever been down there, to see if I might have any nitrous because he was low, and I didn't. He had one partial pass on that motor and had no idea what it would run. Seems to me that he was at a severe disadvantage to begin with. If he had have run a qualifying pass the worst he could have done would have been in the 8th position, which is where they put him anyway. Just funny , to me, that anyone would have a complaint about him running. I'm pretty damn proud of him. Just sorry that I wasn't there. Maybe next time. See ya at the races !!!

Yep, My car seems to really have a problem with the tires shaking at the shift into 2nd gear. Working on a remedy for that so at least maybe I can make a full pass instead of pedaling it every run. I have not made a full pass in the last 8 runs or so.

Doubt you will get 8 cars to do it much less a $100 per car.
Cut it in half at 4 cars at $25 each, a better chance to have a Fast Four Race and if the track adds $100 instead of just paying Low ET. $200 Winner take all and race for it.

That would be great if the track would support a fast heads up. Be some person is scared to put it side by side. Hell if you build a fast car put it up against some one. If you can not drive leave it a home.

Re: Fast Four -- Chris Ragsdale, 08:14:49 04/27/12 Fri [1]
Well if the track lines it up as a quick 4 and pay out low et that way and someone doesn't want to run heads up for the money they can run by there self for no money, even if they are the fastest. Hell I am still running chris jr's motor(well most of it) but I will still get in a quick 4 and hope I can tree someone.

Yep most of these low 5 second blower/turbo cars are putting to much power to the ground and make one good pass the whole night out of several attemps and usually dont even make a full pass. Us Nitrous boys might be a few tenths slower but we will go heads up racing and put it to the ground on every pass and see who makes it to the finish line first. This single pass shit ain't drag racing ...a Fast Four is!!!

I guess I wouldn't know who the "someone" was that would/should keep the website up to date. It takes three days to find out what happens and then it is only general info. Someone ran low ET but didn't post what the ET was. I don't know and maybe it is just me, but I would like to see more info about the event. As in: How many entrants in brackets? Any JR dragsters? Who were they? Any rails or open wheeled racers? Any blower motors? How about motorcycles? Any of them at the track? Any grudge racing? How about the Drifting on Sunday? Yeah, I know, I know, I should be there to see the event in person, but a lot of times, I just can't be there in person.
I'm just saying.

If you want good quality work in a TIMELY MANNER you do need to go out of town. You should contact Farris Racing Engines in Springtown (NE Fort Worth area) 817-221-1590. They now do all of my engine machine work and block welding. Ask for Howard or Shane. They are racers themselves with a fuel altered and know that a racer WANTS HIS STUFF IN A TIMELY MANNER. I took the hour and a half drive, dropped off my broken block, Howard said he would call me when it was ready. I drove back home. He called me TWO days later and said the work was complete. I took another drive to Fort Worth, picked up by repaired block and could not be happier. EXCELLENT work in a TIMELY Manner. Just my 2 cents worth.

Farris also does BBC SBC and any other brand of racing engine, aluminum block or iron block. Complete head service, crankshaft work and crank balancing, and rod work, too. If anyone has been waiting on machine shops local to Waco and are tired of waiting for MONTHS, contact Farris Racing Engines. They will do everything they can to get your engine work done in a TIMELY MANNER.

Re: events -- 1 BAD 71, 20:30:55 05/03/12 Thu [1]
I don't understand why the bracket point system does not reward you for each round win. As it stands with the current set up the car that comes in last place gets the same points as fifth place. Where is the justice in that? Why can't the points be like other tracks? If there is 25 cars think of the extra passes it takes to finish 5th and u get nothing for it. I suggest 10 points for entering and 10 for each round win. What do others think about this?

Re: events -- Racer_Jeff, 07:25:20 05/04/12 Fri [1]
I agree with Jon. Each round won should be rewarded with points. It is more to keep up with, but it is worth it. It also makes the points tighter so there is no runaway leader.... which keeps racers coming back!

My feedback would be that with a car count like that the street car event would be better racing on Friday night instead of Saturday. I can only imagine how many oil downs, antifreeze, a/c drips, twisted axles and broken rear ends there would be. If it has to be on Saturday, then it should be after the brackets and index racing is over.
