The best tig welder for an aluminum oil pan that I know of is Robert Slaughter. If your guy does not work out, keep Robert in mind. He did a fantastic job on a major oil pan repair for me recently.

Re: Where's WOP racing Frank Vacante? -- Hemiracer1 (Stick Car Racer), 17:14:21 11/10/10 Wed [1]
The last of the parts I have waited on for two weeks have finally arrived this afternoon. If I can get the old "stick car" back together in time, I plan on being at the Hill this Saturday, too. I have another new tune-up that is radically different from my regular tune-up that I want to try. If it don't explode at the hit of the throttle, maybe it'll run the speed I have been looking for. I have also installed a SECOND set of four piston brake calipers with a hand brake I want to try out, too. Maybe the stick car's extra braking ability will calm Ken's nerves a little and keep me out of the barb wire, too. Hoping to see yall at the Hill this weekend!!!!!!!!!!!!

I went down to where the first big oil down was Saturday night. Trust me, those guys are working HARD to get everything cleaned up for everyone else to race. I know it seems like a long time to clean up sometimes, but Ken and the crew are going at it full throttle until the track can open again. They all really deserve a big "THANKS" from every racer and fan.

Re: BULLITT CHASSISWORX -- Hemiracer1, 16:52:59 11/03/10 Wed [1]
Ken has made some track improvements and fixed some of the rough spots in the shut down area. They are doing a great job of prepping the track, too. Actually, I think the track can hold faster cars now than ever before. I ran 195 mph with no problems. It took two chutes and lots of brake but rode well enough for me to want to come back for more when I get the parts to get the heap running again. Still waiting on parts but expecting 210+. You might reconsider whether or not the track is too rough nowadays. You know your car, I don't. Heck, I hear there are some altereds coming to the track that have run 3.90's and 189 mph in the 1/8 elsewhere. Looking for some new track records!!

Re: BULLITT CHASSISWORX -- Hemiracer1, 13:34:09 11/04/10 Thu [1]
I do not know what a stick car is. My dragster does not run in the car classes. I did manage to roll my dragster over a few times a couple of years ago, though. No injuries other than financial. I hear that I still hold the tracks' only UPSIDE DOWN ET record at 4.726. Hopefully I won't do that again.
I am still waiting on parts from California. If they come in tomorrow, I can make it to the track Saturday. If not, it will be next weekend.

Oh, I wouldn't say that. There are some pretty quick and nice door cars at the hill. Each to his own liking, I guess. I just have always liked "stick cars". (Oops, the hillbilly inside of me is showing now.) I will get tired of running the stick car one day and throw one of my motors in something with doors on it. Kinda in a transition mode right now, anyways. See ya at the Hill soon.

Re: BULLITT CHASSISWORX -- Hemiracer1, 17:08:52 11/04/10 Thu [1]
I am not sure if I have those "nerves of steel" you mentioned or not. I still have flashbacks in my mind of seeing that concrete going past my head at 5" away from me at 150 mph. Everytime that dragster "flopped" and hit the roll cage on the concrete again, I was thinking "Is this the roll the collapses the cage in on me and ends it all?" Luckily, it stopped rolling and I could get out by myself with nothing broken, cutoff or even hurting. The dragster did not fair so well. Even now, every time that tree lights the green, I have to mentally focus to make myself hold the throttle down and block out those visions of the concrete. True enough, I got on the phone looking for another chassis and ended up driving 2600 miles to get the one I wanted, but I still would not call it nerves of steel. I DO call being a "drag racer" at heart. Stick car or door car, still a drag racer.

I would also be interested Electromotion 6-15 stage fuel and clutch management system parts and software. Could also use a good Sonny Bryant or Winberg 4.500 std std hemi crank. Let me know if you have any of these items in stock. I would also be interested in selling a complete NEW 541" Brad Anderson forged hemi shortblock with all new internals or a 526" KB A-Fuel motor in good condition, 4.375 bore x 4.375 stroke. Also have a good set of AJ Stage II alcohol heads, ready to run. Let me know.

BC,
Just some FYI, the term "fuel crank" is a forged crankshaft designed specifically to handle CH3NO2 and has the heavier counterweights balanced for the heavier rods and has a flat 8 bolt flange. If I do not find a good used one without cracks in a day or two I will order a new one from Sonny Bryant.

well lets see john called me friday a few times and told me to bring my car and take his spot (he talked to all pinks staff and they said i could take his spot) i decided not to take my car that night and just go watch but my wife said we were taking the car and see what happens. so we leave madisonville around 3:00 am saturday morning and get up there around 6:00 am and john helped me get teched in quick and then waited to be called to make time trials. we were in the 10.00 to 10.49 class "f" so i pilled my car down to try and run that class and ran a 9.87 and a 9.63. i definately thought since i did not run johns class that i was gonna go home forsure. we were sitting at the trailer bs and heared on the radio they were calling numbers out for the final 32 and john said frank get up there i know they are going to call ur number and so i went up there and on my way up they called my number so john came flying behind me and by that time i was up there at the starting line and had no idea they called my number and then john got there and said man they called ur number so i waved down one of the pinks guys and they said i could go ahead and race (had to be at the line when they called ur number did not know that) but went out the first round of the show by less than a fender but had a blast. they said it should air it in december 2010. thanks to john and denise for letting me take his spot i would not have taken my car at all and my wife also. i just wish that could of been mr bankston up there or mrs bankston since it was there spot not mine (but thats what friends are for)

Re: Oct 9, 2010 200+ MPH 1/4 mile Track Record Attempt -- Hemiracer1, 18:41:50 10/10/10 Sun [1]
Wellll, Things did not turn out as planned. First two runs were 1/8 mile runs to "set" the new brake. First pass the chutes failed and had to hit the brakes hard enough to make it hop and hit the chassis on the concrete. Got the brakes set though and ready for the first of the 1/4 mile attempts. Fueled it up, filled the air bottle, checked the air in the tires, suited up, checked the radios, got pushed up to the start-up area and hit the start switch. Starter problems. The motor is not spinning fast enough to fire the mag. I have a two speed 12/24 volt starter system with time delay and relays because the MSD 44 amp mag requires a higher fire rpm speed than the regular ignition and a 12 volt starter can spin the motor. Took it back to the pits, charged the batteries, got the motor to fire once and took it back to the staging lanes. Same thing happened again. In the words of Yosimity Sam, "Yaz-a-frack-a-brack-a-shrackin". I figured out the next morning that the time delay relay had gone bad and would not spin the starter on 24 volts. Got it fixed now. Plan on being back at the track Oct 16, weather permitting. Still looking for 210+. We will see. Our thanks to Ken and track personnel that give us great support and track prep. Thanks to all our supporters and well wishers. We need all the support and luck we can get.

Re: Oct 9, 2010 200+ MPH 1/4 mile Track Record Attempt -- Hemiracer1, 13:38:37 10/14/10 Thu [1]
Does not look like we will be able to make it to the track Oct.16. I pulled the valve covers to check the valves and found rocker arm, valve stem and keeper damage. Good thing the motor did not start last weekend for the 210 pass. It would have dropped a valve and done major damage. Pulled the heads off to replace the valve and do maintenance. Waiting on parts now. Might be a couple of weeks.
Thanks for asking.

This is Barry, also known as Hemiracer1 on this forum and other sites. I run a dragster at the Hill. Come by the pits, look for a big red truck and a long white trailer, usually parked at the back of the pits and find the gray haired guy in a blue shirt and say hello next time you are out there. We won't be there tomorrow (10-2-10), waiting on parts.

Thanks for your support on my next pass. I found last week that the wing had broken in five places so I replaced the wing with another oone I had. I also found that the brake pads had melted onto the rotors. I fixed all that. I found out TODAY that the throw out bearing has damaged the clutch release arms bad enough to not be able to be run again until these arms are replaced. I ordered new ones from California. They should be in next week. At this speed, you don't take chances. Going to rebuild the trans and rear and do some minor things to the engine while it is all out on the floor. Having to pull the motor and trans to do the repairs to the clutch. Arrrgh!! I was sure looking forward to going the 200+. Probably be a couple of weeks now before I can make it back to the track.
Good luck on running your car this weekend.

Re: results -- Hemiracer1, 18:29:06 09/20/10 Mon [1]
I am not positive about who did what exactly but since there has been no other posts about last Saturday night, I'll try to help. The track was hooking well. Randy with the blue Nova ran a 5.29 and some 5.30's. A guy on a bike stood it up and lost in on the launch but sustained no major injuries and walked away from it. It did some damage to his bike, though. I ran my first 1/4 mile passes at the Hill. The best ET of the three runs was 4.58 at 161 in the 1/8 with 7.10 at 195.95 mph in the 1/4. Still looking for that 200 mph pass, though. Maybe next time out.
I wish more detailed results would be posted by someone in the know within a couple days of each race day. I think the spectators would like a recap and those who couldn't be there would still like to keep up with what's happening at the Hill. Somebody help us out here.
I still think Ken should put a sign up at the highway turn-off. Might bring more spectators and attract more racers with more cars and bring in more income to the track and could then make more improvements, etc. Just a thought.

The track was hooking for sure. My first pass was a 5.55 with a 1.23 60'. The second pass was a 1.21 60' but had to let out. The third try was a 1.22 60' but was all over the track. It was not the track though, I noticed when I got back to the trailer that my passanger side tire looked low. When I checked it it was at 3lbs and the other was still at 6.5. I had just checked them prior to the pass so I put about 10 lbs in it and after just a few minutes it had dropped several pounds and within an hour it was flat so I must have picked something up. I will be back out as soon as I can get some new ones.

Hey Chris, I recently experienced the same tire deflation situation. I guess I got a rock cut in the slick somewhere at the track. It was flat the next morning sitting in the trailer. A few days later, I bought new slicks and THEN I realized I could (should) have installed tubes instead of buying new tires. You and fellow racers might keep that in mind.

Ollie knows just as much as Wayne and works on it every weekend at the track so what would be wrong with asking him(unless you just don't like Ollie then I could see why). As far as telling people to stay out of it, you posted your question on a public board so if you don't want other people chimming in than ask him personally and you wont have that problem and wont have to sound like a smart ass.

Your welcome, they are adorable. I think it is cool that they are so interested in racing especially as such a young age. Hopefully one day we will see them making a pass.
