Subject: Oct 9, 2010 200+ MPH 1/4 mile Track Record Attempt

Hey Yall,
We are planning on being at the Hill on October 9, 2010 to make an attempt at a new 1/4 mile Low ET and a MPH record. The current record stands at 7.10 ET with a 195.95 MPH. We are hoping for something better than that (210+)if the track can hold it and nothing gets loose. We have a new "tune up" in the car, new clutch settings, new gearing ratio, and some chassis and computer changes...hopefully it will make for a new 1/4 record. All are welcome to come by our pit area to say hello. All questions will be answered as best we can. See you there. (remember to bring ear plugs for your kids)

Wellll, Things did not turn out as planned. First two runs were 1/8 mile runs to "set" the new brake. First pass the chutes failed and had to hit the brakes hard enough to make it hop and hit the chassis on the concrete. Got the brakes set though and ready for the first of the 1/4 mile attempts. Fueled it up, filled the air bottle, checked the air in the tires, suited up, checked the radios, got pushed up to the start-up area and hit the start switch. Starter problems. The motor is not spinning fast enough to fire the mag. I have a two speed 12/24 volt starter system with time delay and relays because the MSD 44 amp mag requires a higher fire rpm speed than the regular ignition and a 12 volt starter can spin the motor. Took it back to the pits, charged the batteries, got the motor to fire once and took it back to the staging lanes. Same thing happened again. In the words of Yosimity Sam, "Yaz-a-frack-a-brack-a-shrackin". I figured out the next morning that the time delay relay had gone bad and would not spin the starter on 24 volts. Got it fixed now. Plan on being back at the track Oct 16, weather permitting. Still looking for 210+. We will see. Our thanks to Ken and track personnel that give us great support and track prep. Thanks to all our supporters and well wishers. We need all the support and luck we can get.

Does not look like we will be able to make it to the track Oct.16. I pulled the valve covers to check the valves and found rocker arm, valve stem and keeper damage. Good thing the motor did not start last weekend for the 210 pass. It would have dropped a valve and done major damage. Pulled the heads off to replace the valve and do maintenance. Waiting on parts now. Might be a couple of weeks.
Thanks for asking.
