This is just a quick sketch (not an official entry!) and I'm a tad embarassed to make it public at this stage, so I'm glad you like it. I hope I can find time to make it the full-color idea in my head, but it could take a while. You all will be the first to know. :-) (NT) -- DonnaS, 09:50:36 03/27/09 Fri Oh, Donna, you are so talented, girl!! That picture is fabulous! I think the unicorn is looking at Jamie coming in the door. I see a stool that would be perfect for my fwa. (NT) -- Noelle, 09:57:42 03/27/09 Fri Just gorgeous, Donna. I couldn't get a picture that wonderful if I spent the rest of my life working on it. Oh, and it's so Casey the unicorn is looking at ;) (NT) -- Carla, 10:24:17 03/27/09 Fri Haha, yea it's so Casey - look at the unicorn's expression - he's probably seeing Casey in his Father Riordan getup and wondering WTF?! :-) (NT) -- Marilyn, 11:15:37 03/27/09 Fri Donna, that is fantastic! I believe this entrant read the rules for the dream date contest, but I still think this lovely entry needs to be appreciated....and I'm just sure this audience will appreciate the heck out of it! Oh, my, is it getting warm in here? -- PeggyB (), 15:22:50 03/22/09 Sun [11] With my apologies to Ms Brandner for taking some liberty with her man…… Jaysus, I knew I should have said NO! I never liked blind dates, but here I was, going on one! It’s only that this one had been arranged and highly recommended by this lovely older British lady that I had befriended during my frequent stays in St Tropez. I admit, I was intrigued, which explains why I was getting ready at the present. I was to have dinner with a young friend of hers, an Irish man, a certain James, (Jamie as she called him) Kirkpatrick, “the handsomest gentleman I would have ever set my eyes on” said Mrs. Thompson with a dreamy look in her eyes! He was the son of an old friend of her late husband and had stopped by St Tropez to visit her for a couple of days while he was on his way to Italy where he had some business to attend. It was hot, St Tropez is like a bowl and the heat stays in. Even the sunset hadn’t brought in the little breeze that usually occurs while being so close to the water. The window of my tiny hotel room right there on the water front of St Tropez didn’t let any air in, and the hotel was too cheap to have ever considered installing an air conditioning system, but after all these years, it was still my favorite place for it's location and the view it gave me. Through the opened window, you could hear the increasing sound of the awakening town; the terraces of the cafes along the pier were getting busier and more colorful as darkness fell. Sennequier and The Papagayo were losing their more sedated appearance of the afternoon crowd for the wild and exotic ambiance of nightlife. Muffled boom boom sounds of music were coming out of the night club right below; the smell of freshly made waffle cones came floating to my room from the little ice cream shop right at the corner. I did slip on a simple short and light black dress that highlighted my high heeled legs. Make up applied, I took off in a halo of my ‘‘Baby Doll’’ perfume. He was already there, waiting for me and if I didn’t know him, I could recognized him at once! Mrs. Thompson had been right, he was handsome! No Leprechaun indeed! He looked at me and smiled as if he recognized me as well. He fully intended to experience the St Tropez night life, so I took him to dinner ‘‘Chez Nano’’where we ate on the overflowing terrace mixed among the rich and famous and the regular people that always crowd the place, Nano himself was there as usual, greeting everyone and he must have sensed the bigger than life aura of my companion because he did engaged in conversation instead of just the simple greetings he delivered at each table. We then had a midnight cocktail at ‘Hysteria', the place to be for a late evening drink and a bit of jazz. He was amused, and, I think may be aroused by my very unusual but so delicious habit of drinking champagne. I like to dip a rose bud in my glass and suck the golden bubbly liquid from the tight silky petals. This is when he kissed me for the first time. He took a sip of his own champagne and brought his wet lips to mine. He rested them at first on my own, and then, slowly, he darted his tongue out to lick the wetness of my own mouth. He was trying to be gentle but at the sight of my own eagerness, he became more voracious and I wanted him, all of him and right there! We decided that leaving that crowded place was probably better before we started to make a show of ourselves, but of course, it's St Tropez, nobody really cares anyway! So we walked and walked far from the brouhaha of the busy touristy place to the more peaceful beaches outside the town center. We walked and kissed many times, each kiss bringing on more powerful waves of desire to the point that nothing existed anymore but the need to possess each other. As we reached the sand, my little black dress and his shirt were the first to come off, but I fumbled on the opening of his trousers, my fingers not fast enough for the promise inside. Finally, he was all there and glorious in front of me. We didn’t have any champagne at hand, but I licked my way down his chest until I knelt in front of his gorgeous and slender body. I did proceed to show him how it felt to be a rose dipped in champagne! We made love on the sand and the heat of the summer night and we swam in the wonderfully cooling water of the Mediterranean Sea, lulled by the gentle waves and the songs of the Mermaid. We made love again in the soft light of dawn and as the sun rose over the horizon, we walked back to my hotel door where he left me reluctantly but with a delicious and tender kiss and the promise of more. I went to bed with Tears in my eyes for the regret that the magical night was over. I woke up several hours later to the sound of a knock on my bedroom door. It was a special delivery, a bouquet of rose buds and a note. It said: Bon Appetit! Yours, J. Oaken stool that could withstand the weight of a horse. My sanctuary, my retreat, my oasis. How joyful the comradery that surrounds Distance and boundaries play no role. Here is where friendship abounds. Here is respite for the world-weary soul. The Pub's laughter is its unfailing lure That beckons me linger, to scroll far too long. (NT) -- PeggyB, 20:42:28 02/06/09 Fri I'm hoping to submit something. No clue what it will be though. (NT) -- Elaine, 08:57:10 02/19/09 Thu I'm so sorry but there's no way I can finish my little entry in time with Adam's little birthday party tomorrow. Best of luck to everyone else! [ Post a Reply to this Message ][Edit] And the Winners Are...... -- Marilyn, 06:32:58 09/24/07 Mon [19] Thank you from the bottom of my heart Shammies for playing along, commenting, voting or just lurkin around..but especially to those who entered a Date! Y'all are extremely talented, funny and unique. I Thank YOU for your time and your brain cells. I know this contest was a little off the beaten path and, for various reasons, a little drawn out, so Thank You ALL for your patience. Here are the lovely Shammie's who participated by submitting an entry: 1. An Ode to Jamie and His Many Talents – by Elaine 2. Picnic on the Cliffs with Casey – by Carla 3. “My Dearest James”, note to Jamie – by Denise 4. Wealthy Bachelor spotted with Mysterious Woman, article – by Lil 5. A Dark and Stormy Night (in Belfast) – by Peggy 6. Connemara Mist Contest, date with Jamie – by Dana 7. The Day Two Mythical Creatures Persuaded me to Seduce Casey Riordan – by Elaine 8. A Date You Can Only Imagine – by Shannon 9. Visual Date with Casey – by Michelle By your vote, #7 'An Ode to Jamie and His Many Talents', written by Elaine, was the winner! Congrats woman :-) BUT......You are all winners in my book so I have a little something for all of you!! Watch your mail in about a week or so eh? Thanks again Shammies! Slainte! Mahri [ Post a Reply to this Message ][Edit] Replies: I'd like to thank the Academy for this award... (-; Well, what a surprise! I'm really honored because all the entries were awesome, each one a winner as far as I'm concerned. Say Marilyn, for my prize, um, I was wondering if you might teach me how to conjure up CBF in a dreamscape. If writing libidinous poems didn't do it, I wonder what will?? I'm a die-hard Casey girl, but some of these Jamie scenes you ladies came up with are pretty hot stuff! (NT) -- Elaine, 12:53:10 09/24/07 Mon Might you be converted then? Remember, you'll be sitting at the back of the bench with the other latecomers! And congrats to you Elaine. Two extraordinary efforts that showcased two extraordinary men! I should have known that Jamie poem was yours as well, the subject of the lusting threw me off since you've always appeared to be a die-hard Casey fan. The quality and humour shown in the poem should have clued me in that it was yours though! (NT) -- Denise, 14:29:10 09/24/07 Mon Well, I could never turn my back on Casey, but I could add Jamie to my desire list! Guess I'll just have to lust after the man from afar, Denise. There are too many on his bench, and I wouldn't want to abandon my seat on Casey's bench after all. Jamie doesn't know what he's missing, though. Of course if he took one look at me as I ate my prunes, wearing my orthopedic Oxfords, I doubt he'd want to see any more of me! (NT) -- Elaine, 15:18:57 09/24/07 Mon Oh no, do you think my prune yogurt, orthotics and reading glasses will be a turn-off to Jamie?? He needs to like ample thighs and rear end as well! (NT) -- Denise, 17:13:50 09/24/07 Mon I'll see your reading glasses, and raise you one trifocal! (NT) -- Elaine, 17:17:02 09/24/07 Mon ROFL you girls are too funny! It's fantasy baby, we can look anyway we like :-) (NT) -- Marilyn, 17:26:51 09/24/07 Mon Just for the record, I don't wear orthopedic Oxfords, can't stand prunes and don't need them so why bother, but I'm embarrassed to admit that I've had trifocals for a very long time. It's hell getting old. (NT) -- Elaine, 21:53:12 09/24/07 Mon Well for the record, I do have all the things I mentioned!! The only reason I probably don't have trifocals is that I wear contact lenses and put reading glasses to see when the lenses are in place. Really, I don't need the prune yogurt, it's one flavour in the Activia pack of yogurt though! (NT) -- Denise, 07:31:39 09/25/07 Tue Congratulations Elaine!! I have to say I am a Casey girl (mostly), but my mind kept going to Jamie for this particular bit of writing. And well, I find him attractive too...dang it Cindy, you've created two very HOT men!! *G* (NT) -- Lil, 20:37:25 09/24/07 Mon Congratulations to Elaine and also to all the Shammies that sent in entries. They were, as Elaine has said, AWESOME each and every one of them. I had a blast reading them all and some were VERY steamy. EXCELLENT job ladies!!! YAY!! (NT) -- Noelle, 14:24:14 09/24/07 Mon They were all totally terrific, sorry I so late getting here today. Congrats, Elaine!! My boyos are deeply honoured by each and every entry and so am I. Thanks ladies for the participation and making this all so much fun. BTW, I showed some entries to the reporter doing the newspaper story this week. :) (NT) -- celtgirl, 18:28:48 09/24/07 Mon Fine work lasses. Tough choices, particularly if one is imagining being in Jamie or Casey's shoes 'VBnaughtyG' (NT) -- Morgan, 20:48:37 09/24/07 Mon I'm probably being a huge pain in the arse here but wasn't Elaine's (#7) 'The Day Two Mythical Creatures Persuaded me to Seduce Casey Riordan' the winner? Yea I know Mahri I should probably be flogged for bringing this up ;-) (NT) -- Morgan, 21:07:45 09/24/07 Mon Haha.....Morgan, I like that "VBnaughtyG"!! May I use it/steal it?? (NT) -- Noelle, 03:30:17 09/25/07 Tue Of course Noelle! (NT) -- Morgan, 19:01:33 09/25/07 Tue I said it before and I'll say it again, it was a wonderful collection of creativity, I'm very impressed with the variety and imaginitiveness (is that a word?) of the entries!! AND thanks to Cindy for introducing us to these men, and loaning them to us to play with for a brief while *G* (NT) -- LadyPeggyB (), 22:21:53 09/24/07 Mon Congratulations Elaine and to all the Shamrocks who entered! (NT) -- Denise, 17:09:07 09/19/07 Wed Oh YEAH!! (NT) -- Marilyn, 17:33:05 09/19/07 Wed Google said it was CF, I dont know what movie its from though. And yes that is a m&m tattoo. *G* (NT) -- M&M, 19:42:34 09/19/07 Wed Hmmm...what's the little green m&m hiding? (NT) -- Tracy, 17:17:52 09/19/07 Wed I'm thinking it's more her mark on the man, rather than hiding something. After all, we know that there's nothing on that boyo small enough to be hidden by a wee M&M! (NT) -- Carla, 19:30:59 09/19/07 Wed Haha I was gonna say it's where I bit him and she had to cover it up ;-) Yea a wee m&m ain't gonna hide much on that boyo! (NT) -- Marilyn, 19:55:32 09/19/07 Wed A delight for the eyes, and whimsical to-boot! Love it. What I'd give to trade places with Selma, even if only for a minute. Listen, the lighting in that scene was very sensual. Showed the contours off right well. (NT) -- Elaine, 18:25:27 09/19/07 Wed I shouldn't confess this ... but I've been visiting this particular post far too much. There's just something about that view. (NT) -- Elaine, 10:07:40 09/20/07 Thu Gives a woman a tingle in all the right places, doesn't it, just imagining being in that scene with that boyo ;) (NT) -- Carla, 13:01:22 09/20/07 Thu Sure does. I don't normally like missionary but hell, if it's Casey or CBF, I'd be flat on my back in a NY second. (NT) -- Elaine, 16:02:22 09/20/07 Thu And I know right where my hands would be, too ;) A man with a nice, round tush like that is just asking to have it grabbed! I only needed one thing to accompany this rainy day and that was coffee. My afternoon would consist of nothing more than a sweet steaming cup of coffee, a bundle of blankets, a few verses, and a view of the storm amusing the mermaids of the sea. Maneuvering the parking lot was easy, however weaving in and out of the raindrops was not. Damp with nature’s tears, I entered the market to find it quiet and somehow refreshing. Full of color and scent, it was a welcome escape from the gray of the day. My senses were intoxicated with the market’s splendor. I followed the aroma of baking bread, entirely forgetting that my goal was coffee. This was my favorite bakery, offering a vast array of breads and desserts baked fresh every day. It was pure habit that had me requesting a couple of warm cookies and pure sense that kept me moving before I asked for more. As I rounded the corner, my eyes were generously rewarded with bin after bin of fresh produce. The brilliance of the reds and yellows were so beautiful filling imaginary fruit bowls; the greens of leprechauns and oranges of sunsets so wildly fresh. Then all of a sudden, there was the stunning and unmistakable vision of pure gold. “Jaysus,” I muttered taken completely off guard. Even amidst the most beautiful canvas of color that nature can offer, he glowed above all else. For a moment I stood to take him in. Tall and lean, a face of beauty in full concentration, and a head of hair spun from gold and the sun itself. All of this packaged in casual attire that probably cost more than two weeks worth of groceries. I couldn’t resist a smile, for it was all just so Jamie. “I think that one is too ripe.” I said as I quietly approached behind him as he examined the fruit. He slowly turned and the sparkle of emeralds landed upon me. With a skip of my heart, an unpretentious grin crossed his lips, erasing his face of all prior concentration. “It’s the pears that are just slightly too ripe that go best with honey,“ came the reply. “Mmmm… I remember,” I confessed with slight smile and held his green gaze of knowledge and memories from another rainy day so very long ago. Author, 08:37:23 09/20/07 Thu -- Marilyn, 05:58:45 09/18/07 Tue [11] A Dark and Stormy Night (in Belfast) The robe I wrapped myself in was warm and soft. The heat of the shower fading from my skin. “And what are you laughing at?” I asked, hearing a chuckle as I opened the door. “Maggie will have my hide for the puddles we’ve tracked in; the kitchen looks like we brought the lough in with us!” explained Jamie, wiping mirthful tears from his eyes. “Jaysus, Jamie, I’m sooo sorry about your boat...and dinner.” My novice sailing, and an unfortunate change in wind, had interrupted our sunset cruise on Belfast Lough. Only Jamie’s skill and quick action saved the Protophos from sinking altogether in the frigid water; the basket containing what was to be our dinner, however, was lost to the mermaids. As it was, we were both soaked through, but safe, and the boat secure in its slip–though the gunwales of the swamped craft hovered much closer to the water’s surface than they were wont to do, the hull acting as a bowl to contain a good quantity of the Irish Sea. I stepped out of the bathroom, still shivering, into Jamie’s expansive master bedroom. Jamie beckoned me to stand by the fire; the heat of which did a great deal to alleviate my chills, as did the glass of Connemara Mist Jamie handed to me, slipping his arms around my waist and standing close enough behind me to extinguish any traces of the cold that remained. “Warmer now?” He asked as he turned me around, loosening my robe–and his own, eyes twinkling like a leprechaun’s. He bent to me, brushing his lips on my cheek, my shivering returned, not with cold but with anticipation. The storm raged outside. The lights failed, plunging the manor house into darkness, save for the flickering firelight that enveloped us. “Too dark to read or play chess,” he jested, with a slight glance to the dominant feature of the room–a very large, exceedingly comfortable looking bed. He raised his eyebrow in a silent question, I found myself answering with the smallest of nods. As Belfast snuggled down for the night, we did the same, although we slept less than most, kept company by the fire, the storm, and each other. I do happen to know who wrote this one, cuz I only told ONE person the actual name of Jamie's sailboat. ;) Great atmosphere in this piece btw. (NT) -- celtgirl, 08:11:47 09/18/07 Tue I always wanted a sailboat. I would name it 'The Answer.' Where does Protophos come from, Cindy? Is it the name of a Greek mythology character? (NT) -- Elaine (), 13:50:51 09/18/07 Tue It's Greek for 'first light' as in dawn or the beginning of the world itself. That boy is a hopeless romantic- I don't know where he gets it. ;) (NT) -- celtgirl (), 13:53:17 09/18/07 Tue Sweet and romantic - absolutely lovely! Who wouldn't want a date like this with Jamie?! (NT) -- Noelle, 00:14:39 09/20/07 Thu -- Marilyn, 14:15:44 09/18/07 Tue [12] Jamie walked slowly across room, glancing at all the tables, when his eyes connected with mine. ‘Jaysus”. I said to myself, “He really does look like an angel. “Ah., there you are, ,” he said as he sat down across from me, taking my hand and placing a kiss upon it.. “Sorry to have kept you waiting.” “Um.... that’s quite alright,” I replied, staring into eyes as green as a leprechaun’s. “ I um… was enjoying the decor.” The restaurant did have a truly interesting ambiance, a nautical theme through out, anchors and compasses decorated the backs of chairs and mermaids adorned the tables as salt and pepper shakers. “Aye, it is a quaint little place. I hoped you’d enjoy it,” he said taking my hand. and rubbing his thumb across my wedding band. “How long has it been,” he asked, seeing the tears welling in my eyes. “ Two years,: I replied, trying to hold in my emotions, but failing miserably as the tears flowed down my cheeks. “Ah, darlin’ it’s alright,” he said, moving next to me and wrapping an arm around my shoulder. “ You must have loved him well to miss him so. Tell me about him and your life in America.” It was not at all what I expected. I had won the Connemara Mist “Dream Date” contest, which included an all-expenses paid trip to Ireland and a date with the shockingly handsome owner of the company, a Mr. James Kirkpatrick. He was a wonderful listener, sympathetic and attentive. We talked for 6 hours, through a bowl of peanuts, dinner, coffee, desert and of course a glass or two of Connemara Mist. I told him all about my husband’s tragic death, at the hands of a would be kidnapper. Mike had died saving the life of a 14 year old girl. Something to be proud of, but oh so hard to bear. Jamie told me of his losses, his wife left him years ago after all 3 of his sons were either still born or died shortly after birth. He had been through his share of tragedy, too. I felt a little wobbly as I stood up, knowing I should get back to my hotel. “Must you?” Jamie asked, massaging my shoulders and standing close enough to whisper in my ear,“I would like to show you my home.”He took my face in his hands and tilted it up so I was looking into those amazing green eyes, now misty with desire. His lips were warm and insistent as he kissed me deeply and moved his hands down the length of my body. “Let’s go home.” I whispered in reply. However, there will be one entry that you'll know who the Shammie is for sure :-) So without further ado..... An Ode to Jamie & His Many Talents ‘Gorgeous’ is good, and ‘Smart’ is swell, But ‘Luck’ is the best gift of all. One lucky day he passed on his way And upon him my gaze did fall. Jaysus, I thought, he brings tears to my eyes, So sunny and golden was he. I knew right then and there that I’d never care To escape the charms of my darlin’ Jamie. No leprechaun he, but Irish certainly, With eyes serenely green. Classy and composed, past me he strolled When my dismay he’d suddenly seen. This gilded sight that brought me delight, A man whose attraction is permanent. His presence, disarming, his aura, alarming A star in my firmament. No bowl filled with cherries, my life hardly merry But Jamie changed all that immediately. Swept off my feet, I was in utter defeat As verdant eyes lured me entreatingly. What began as flirtation soon became exploration In all areas of his vast expertise. Some Taoist, some Tantric, I turned into a fanatic For pleasures that involved a trapeze. One hot July day as we frolicked away In a fountain in a Tuscan town square, The game that we played, 'Neptune's Mermaid' Caused frightened townsfolk to gape and glare. Try not to judge us, and please don’t begrudge us The things that have brought us such pleasure. I bless the day this Irishman came my way Whose shillelagh is my coveted treasure. "Are you not ready yet, woman? Jaysus, we're only going for a picnic, not dinner with the queen.¨ The deep rumble and lilt of Casey's voice was an instant aphrodisiac as usual, and I sucked in a deep breath to still the shaking in my hands. We'd spend the afternoon in casualty, not on a picnic, if I poked myself in the eye with the mascara wand. I'll be right there,¨ I called back. Pour yourself a drink and sit down for a minute. Good things come to those who wait.¨ It'll do me no good to be patient if I'm a doddering auld fool by the time you get out here," he grumbled over the clinking of glass on glass. There, all set to go," I announced as I walked into the small sitting room that took up the front half of the cottage. A low whistle of appreciation and a saucy grin met my entrance, causing an immediate tightening in my lower belly. Maybe we should just forget about the walk and picnic . . . . But Casey was already on his feet, downing the rest of his whisky in a single swallow. He raked his fingers through his already wayward curls, then offered me his hand. I laid my fingers on his palm and found myself pulled against a hard, warm body. "Hmmm, you smell good enough to eat,¨ he murmured as he bent his head. His mouth covered mine and rational thought failed. His teeth gently pulled my lower lip as he ended the kiss. "If good things come to those who wait, we'd better leave right now before something bad happens.¨ One corner of his mouth quirked up and his chocolate eyes flared with enough heat to melt the bones in my legs. I swallowed hard and nodded, still not capable of coherent thought, let alone speech. "The wind on the top of cliff will bring tears to yer eyes, luv, but it'll be nice and sheltered on the beach. Ye'll be used to the wind, coming from Newfoundland, I'd imagine.¨ "Yes, umm, yeah, a little wind is fine,¨ I managed to choke out, still somewhat stunned by the effect of his mouth on mine. ~ "You want me to walk down there?¨ I peered cautiously over the edge of what surely was a hundred-foot drop to the ocean. 'Unless you're some sort of magical leprechaun with the ability to render me unconscious and transport me down, and back up again, I think we'd better stay up here in the wind.¨ And this was no small offer on my part, given Casey's wind was not only causing my eyes to water but was almost blowing me off my feet. "Are ye afraid of heights, then, lass? Just hold on to my shoulder, keep your eyes on yer feet and follow me. You'll be fine, and it really is worth it. I've got a bottle of wine and other goodies in the basket.¨ The bugger flashed that sexy grin and I decided I'd jump over the cliff, never mind walk down the perilous stairs craved into the side of the rock, if it meant spending more time with him. I sucked in a deep breath and followed, my hand dutifully clenched on the hard muscle of his shoulder. Ten endless minutes later we stepped onto hard sand. Waves swirled halfway up the cove, retreating with a soft sigh and leaving fingers of foam grasping at the shore as if reluctant to leave such a charmed place. I looked up at the cliffs towering around us and then back at the endless bounty of the ocean. It was like being in a private world with the most incredible man I'd ever met. "It's magical, Casey, thank you for bringing me here. I almost expect to see a mermaid watching us from the waves.¨ He stepped up behind me, the heat from his body wrapping me as securely as his arms around my waist. I leaned back into him, a feeling of utter peace and security flowing through my very soul. "It's not just anybody I bring here, luv, so I'm glad you feel the place as I do.¨ Casey whispered in my ear before dropping a soft kiss on my neck. A shiver that had nothing to do with the wind tickled down my spine then sent tendrils of heat into my core. "Maybe you're the mermaid, with your sea-green eyes and long red hair. Are you going to seduce me and lure me to your watery home beneath the waves, then?¨ He turned me slowly in his arms, until we were facing each other. Tipping my head back, I looked up into those mesmerizing eyes, my breath coming short through half-parted lips. Casey's head slowly descended and my eyes drifted closed in anticipation of the heat and spice of his mouth on mine again. GURGLE, GURGLE. The horrendous noise came from stomach and totally shattered the mood. Heat suffused my skin, but it had nothing to do with the man who was now laughing his head off. "I guess that means my mermaid is hungry?¨ he asked between gasps of laughter. Faced with the option of laughing back or stalking up the side of the cliff on my own - and giving up any chance of getting Casey into my bed - I went for expediency and laughed, too. "We mermaids need to be feed regularly, especially when we're out of our native element.¨ "Well then you'd best help me set out our lunch before you grow a tail and swim away, woman. I've not packed all this food and lugged it down here only to have you disappear on me.¨ Casey retrieved a dark blue woolen blanket from his rucksack and we battled the fitful breeze to spread it on the sand before he ordered me to sit and relax while he unpacked the feast he'd put together. One corner of the blanket slowly filled with containers of food. I couldn't resist and so reached out and began prying off lids. Cream crackers, pale, creamy Dublin cheese, green grapes, lobster pate and a jumble of chocolates were revealed. "And the final touch,¨ Casey said with a flourish, presenting a bottle of white wine like a waiter in a white-tablecloth restaurant. "I don't know much about wine, but Guinness didn't seem to go with all the rest. The lad at the store said this one was good.¨ "It's all amazing, Casey, really. Thank you.¨ "Ye're welcome, lass. Now we'd better get you fed before that beastie in your stomach wakes up again.¨ He smiled and winked and I felt said beastie turn a somersault. "Let me feed you?¨ Casey stopped with one hand reaching towards the food. I nodded mute agreement, the thought of eating food directly from those long, blunt-tipped fingers just about sending me over the edge. Selecting a cracker, he used it to scoop up a chunk of lobster pate and held it out for me. When I reached out my hand, he moved it just out of reach and shook his head. "No hands, just lips,¨ he admonished in a husky voice. I nodded once more, wondering how I was going to chew a cracker with a mouth gone dry as bone. Casey proffered the cracker again and I obediently opened my mouth and leaned forward to take it from his fingers. Under the distinctive smell of lobster, I caught a faint whiff of cigarettes and whisky underscored by pure Casey. There was no other way to describe it and any woman who'd been close to him would immediately know what I meant, unless she was a lesbian or neutered. "Good?¨ he queried, as he popped a cracker heaped with pate into his own mouth. "Hmmm,¨ I mumbled around a mouthful of cracker then almost choked as his tongue flicked out lick a smear of lobster from the corner of his mouth. His hand reached out again, but this time it was empty. One long finger touched my chin, tipping my face up until our eyes met. Heat enough to burn flared. AUTHOR'S NOTE: IN THE INTEREST OF BREVITY AND PERSONAL SATISFACTION, PLEASE USE YOUR IMAGINATION AS TO WHAT HAPPENS NEXT :-) I woke with my head nestled against Casey, his hand stroking the hair back from my brow. The broad chest under my ear vibrated with the sound of his humming. "What song is that?¨ I murmured. "Oh, ye're awake then are ye, lass? It's 'The Black Velvet Band'. Do ye know it?" "Yeah. My dad used to sing it all the time, it's one of my favourites, actually.¨ "Shall I sing it for ye then?¨ "Please.¨ As his smoky voice filled my senses, I closed my eyes and realized this was the best date I'd ever been on. (NT) -- Denise, 09:31:00 09/15/07 Sat No I don't see it in there either Denise....so'kay let's pretend we're voting on some kind of curve - even though I have no idea what that really means hahaha , (NT) -- Marilyn, 17:42:36 09/15/07 Sat Yeah, do the authors lose points for not using the required vocabulary? What about word count? Although I thoroughly enjoyed every lovely word of this story!!! (NT) -- LadyPeggyB, 18:33:12 09/15/07 Sat Huh, I didn't even realize that there was 'required vocabulary'. I am so not good at following the rules myself it scares some of us into not joining in. I'm thoroughly enjoying everyone's fabulous efforts rule follower or no. (NT) -- Noelle, 23:40:10 09/15/07 Sat Yea, it (the words) was just a way to make it a little funnier is all :-) Everyone is a winner for effort yea?! Thus far we have had really very impressive entries. I'm not surprised though because the Shammies are an amazing group of people. I'm really enjoying reading these. (NT) -- Noelle, 10:54:06 09/15/07 Sat Beautiful AND erotic. Really enjoyed this lovely picture you painted. You could make a living at writing this, whoever you are (although I'm pretty sure I know who you are)! Such talent in our little group. S&S just oozes with it. Speaking of oozing, could you tell me about this lobster pate? I am not familiar with it. I didn't even realize lobsters had livers. ;-) (NT) -- Elaine, 11:11:07 09/15/07 Sat I don't know if it's what the writer is talking about, but here we can buy what's called lobster pate, but really it's more of a paste. It's lobster pureed and mixed with something or another so that it sets and then often layered with a spinach puree in a rectangular mold, like a terrine, and sliced. It's sold wrapped in slices like regular pate is sometimes and it's yummy, very delicate and light but with a tremendous amount of flavour. (NT) -- Carla, 12:35:12 09/15/07 Sat Are you able to find lobster pate in New-Found-LAND?? Sounds yummy to me. I love lobster and the author makes it sound very appealing. (NT) -- Noelle, 14:50:47 09/15/07 Sat I do believe you can find lobster pate in Newfin-laand, ye saucy wench. You can also find it in Toe-ron-tow. (NT) -- Carla, 15:24:21 09/15/07 Sat Hahahaha - I wouldn't arrrrgue with her if I were you Noelle (I've just been waiting for an opportunity to type that ;-) (NT) -- Marilyn, 15:53:18 09/15/07 Sat Hehehe.....no arrrrguing here, Miss Mahri, I just want to make sure that I pronounce New-Found-LAND correctly as I know those Newie's get a tad touchy if you happen to say New-fin-lind. In my regular everyday con-va-sation I do try to pronounce it correctly as to not offend those wee feisty gangstas from up North. (NT) -- Noelle, 16:04:53 09/15/07 Sat Bwahahahaaa! (NT) -- WB, 19:57:04 09/15/07 Sat Hey Carla, don't you call it Trana?? (NT) -- Denise, 21:52:31 09/15/07 Sat Nah, that's just a myth we spread around out side of the city so we can laugh at the tourists who come to town and say Trawna :) (NT) -- Carla, 00:03:29 09/16/07 Sun I only know one shammy who's been close enough to 'Casey' to describe his eyes as chocolate! (NT) -- LadyPeggyB, 11:56:08 09/15/07 Sat Actually Colin's eyes are more of a medium tawny port, or a peat-coloured stream. I seem to recall that Casey's eyes are darker than Colin's :) (NT) -- Carla, 12:30:29 09/15/07 Sat I'll have to take your word for it on Colin's eyes, lass ;-) (NT) -- LadyPeggyB, 17:06:41 09/15/07 Sat Well, that makes for one heck of a bedtime story, doesn't it? Even if it is the middle of the afternoon! I think I might need to take a "nap" with the DH. (NT) -- Carla, 12:31:35 09/15/07 Sat I dont care how many words are in the contest entries! They are sooooo wonderful that I want them to be longer. Another terrific entry from another talented Shamrock! (NT) -- Tracy, 19:46:14 09/15/07 Sat Good god, could you imagine a seriously collaborative Shamrock effort given what individuals are capable of!! (NT) -- Sheila, 20:13:21 09/15/07 Sat Oh my!! I don't know if the world at large is ready for that!!!! (NT) -- LadyPeggyB, 20:40:09 09/15/07 Sat I think we should compile all these entries, plus all the Shamrotica, into one complete volume. We could call it something like 'Belfast Diaries Meets the Delta of Venus.' ;-) (NT) -- Elaine, 21:06:49 09/15/07 Sat I thought you could make/sell books at CafePress, but I don't see that option now. The idea of a S&S Yearbook is intriguing.... (NT) -- LadyPeggyB, 18:54:06 09/16/07 Sun Raising my hand to volunteer. Was yearbook editor back in high school. I'd consider black pudding if either Jamie or Casey wanted to feed it to me! ;-) (NT) -- Elaine, 06:50:36 09/17/07 Mon Ugh, sorry, I've gotta draw the line somewhere. Haggis yes, black pudding, no way!! *g* (NT) -- LadyPeggyB, 08:11:51 09/17/07 Mon Oh very clever, doing this as a gossip item in a paper. :) What a great range of entries we've had so far. Looking forward to the rest. Black pudding is actually quite tasty- I've had it a few times, while eating an Ulster Fry, also known as the full Irish breakfast. (NT) -- celtgirl, 10:52:05 09/17/07 Mon Isn't this terrific? We've had poetry, prose, a letter, and a "news" article. I'm loving seeing the creativity! Mahri had an excellent idea with this. (NT) -- LadyPeggyB, 11:29:17 09/17/07 Mon We used to have black pudding on a semi-regular basis when I was growing up. I had no idea what it was, just ate it and it was very spicy and yummy. It's too late to say "yuck" when you've already chomped down half-a-dozen rounds of the stuff. (NT) -- Carla, 16:52:16 09/17/07 Mon Oh, I love this - it's really a very clever take on it. Love the 'gorgeous blue with embroidered mermaids' sounds lovely!! (NT) -- Noelle, 10:52:53 09/17/07 Mon Chocolate ice cream, and having it spoon-fed to me by Jamie - what a date! (NT) -- Denise, 11:39:12 09/17/07 Mon Hey, I didn't know Lainey of Lainey Gossip was a Shammie! What a great entry and it says so much in so few words :) (NT) -- Carla, 16:50:52 09/17/07 Mon OMG, two Shamrocks who've met and spoken with CBF. It's almost too much to fathom! (NT) -- Elaine, 17:35:49 09/17/07 Mon Well, I don't think Lainey really is a Shammie, but this sounds like something she might write :) (NT) -- Carla, 19:02:25 09/17/07 Mon Just joking - I knew she was not an official Shamrock. Ad hoc only, not card-carrying. ;-) (NT) -- Elaine, 21:10:11 09/17/07 Mon Okay, just making sure, I can have brain cramps like this sometimes, so ya never know. And Lainey does have a thing for Colin, so that makes her an honourary Shammie of sorts. Perhaps we should come up with a membership card and send honourary ones with copies of the books to those we deem worthy? (NT) -- Carla, 09:03:54 09/18/07 Tue Now "that' was clever! (NT) -- JaneH, 18:35:42 09/19/07 Wed -- Marilyn, 06:05:30 09/19/07 Wed [9] It’s Later Than You Think Or The Day Two Mythical Creatures Persuaded Me to Seduce Casey Riordan One day a little leprechaun leaped out and tapped my shoulder. Said he, “ ‘Tis time to grab some craic before you get much older.” I dropped and shattered my bowl of prunes in shock and utter fear. A little green man wanted me to change - after all my fifty years? Try as I might, I could not escape the words of that wee elf. So I strolled the beach that fine spring day to debate it with myself. I stopped in shock when I beheld a woman with a tail. ‘Twas a mermaid. True! Quite beautiful, covered in fishy scales. “My dear, when will you ever learn?” she asked and shook her head. “Throw off those prudish ways of yours and take that man to bed!” How could she possibly know of him? I asked, my head a-whirling. The man I’d longed for all these years, with hair so black and curling. Next night I trekked down to the pub where I knew he’d be a-drinking. Jaysus, what’s gotten hold of me? What could I be thinking? I walked right up to his handsome self and next to him I sat. “It’s time we did the deed, my love,” I said. And that was that! His eyes sparkled, his smile grew broad as he gave his full attention. And ‘neath the bar I plainly saw the rising of his intentions. “Ye’ve no idea how long I’ve wished to have ye in this fashion!” He pulled me close and kissed me. I could’ve fainted from the passion. To his cottage we ran, and here was I in my orthopedic shoes. I must’ve stumbled a dozen times, my ankles feeling bruised. With haste he pushed the door aside and gathered me in his arms. “Finally now to show you every inch of my substantial charms.” He undressed me oh so tenderly. But shy, I wanted to hide. Not too shy to watch - breathlessly - as at his fly he pried. The zipper caught. What luck, I thought, and thinking I could fix it Knelt at his feet to loosen it. He groaned, but didn’t nix it. My hand encountered a wonder of steel, throbbing from its tension. Was my lowly body worthy of such a glorious ascension? The bed was much too far away, so we tumbled to the floor And just like he, ‘twas hard and handy. How dare I ask for more! Exquisite, that’s the only word to describe my satisfaction. How fulfilling was the act of simultaneous climax-action! Later, relaxed and languid, he asked through laughter’s tears, “What happened to make ye see the light after all these many years?” “A shiny webbed lady and a wee green man appeared to me one day. ‘Twas they who made me stop and see the error of my ways!” I doubt that he believed me, but few things could matter less. Together we awake each day in a bed that’s a damp, rumpled mess. (NT) -- Elaine, 06:46:44 09/19/07 Wed I guessed it right away as you too! Not the age, Elaine, but the sense of humour gave you away! (NT) -- JaneH, 18:30:21 09/19/07 Wed -- Marilyn, 05:14:42 09/16/07 Sun [13] My dearest James, I’m anxiously awaiting our afternoon rendezvous by the sea. The picnic basket is packed with your favorite Cabernet Sauvignon, cheese from that little shop near the Seine, chocolate (dark, of course) and a bowl filled with sweet, ripe cherries. The cashmere blanket you gave me last Christmas will be perfect for snuggling by the shore. Should I wear the teal green bathing suit? You’ve always liked that one. Last July when we laid by the ocean you said I looked like a mermaid stranded by the tide. I recall the bathing suit didn’t stay on for long! What followed was one of the most memorable afternoons of my life. Oh Jamie, let’s play rescue the floundering mermaid again! You can comfort me in your welcoming embrace and warm me with your kisses. Rescued mermaids are appreciative lasses. I’ll kiss your brow, then your soft, tender lips and make my way down your golden body. I know what you like, baby, and I won’t be remiss in any detail! As the air chills later in the afternoon we can stroll up to my wee cottage and start a warming fire. I’ll fix a simple supper and we can continue to explore the pleasures of each other’s bodies. Backhanded stroking and that little swirly thing I do with my tongue – I remember what that does to you. I’ll adore your body but expect the same from you. Drive me wild; you know what to do! Jaysus Jamie I’ve missed you! It’s as if some lucky leprechaun has given me the gift of you. I promise - no tears when we part. I’ll cherish every moment we share together. Until this afternoon my love - [ Post a Reply to this Message ][Edit] Replies: Whew, very hot stuff here, definitely danger zone material! (NT) -- Denise, 11:58:00 09/16/07 Sun Now that sounds like my kind of date. All of us lasses do seem to have one thing and one thing only on our minds, I have to say. No trips to the opera, no pub nights or fancy dinners -- just picnic food and SEX! At least we have our priorities straight. (NT) -- Carla, 12:45:11 09/16/07 Sun You ladies are a hoot! I think Casey and Jamie have spent the last couple of days blushing, and yet they are feeling pretty good to have inspired such lust. :) Great job! Clear as mud? *g* Jaysus, I don’t even know where to start. ‘Tis Casey Riordan who’s stolen my heart. The lad with his charm Makes me quite warm And he’s got one impressive body part. ‘Tis his tongue that I’m talking about Though his chubby is splendid no doubt My tears come out in a rush From laughin’, longing and lust Everytime the boy opens his mouth. He’s a lusty leprechaun for sure And my thoughts are never quite pure Even when he’s angry My thoughts are quite randy Especially when I’ve had some liquer. I imagine us sharing a bowl Berries in chocolate you know He winks oh so slightly Off comes my nighty Oh god did I forget birth control? Oh hell what does that matter Though my body will surely get fatter I’d give birth to a mermaid For the chance to get laid By the boy with a tongue like an adder. ‘Tis only a dream, maybe He’s happily married you see But my lust will live on ‘Case Ms. Brandner is wrong And the boyo’s true love is Mahri! With my apologies to Ms Brandner for taking some liberty with her man…… Jaysus, I knew I should have said NO! Yours, J.

Q: Is the entry supposed to be anonymous, until we're finished voting? (NT) -- celtgirl, 08:34:47 02/05/09 Thu A: Yes, I think we'll do it the way Mahri did the "Dream Date" contest. Email your entries to me, I will post them anonymously (and I won't vote *g*). Peggy Post any other questions as replies here, thanks!

Please try to keep it at 350 words or less. Oh, and you have to use these words somewhere in your entry:
But you can't use the book title...know what I mean?! :-)
Here are the entries!!
