Some people have long torso's and shorter legs so they look better in a two piece. And some women may be in really good shape and have rock hard abs but carry a little bit more weight in their thighs and in a one piece they look like they are in not as good of shape but in a bikini you can tell that they really put the hours into the gym. Subject: My ideas for improvement

If this pageant is focusing on Marriage and Family then a week is long enough to keep the ladies away from family and jobs. Day 1 is orientation, gift presentation to governor or whoever and a coctail "get to know you party". Day 2 rehersals and sightseeing. Day 3 Interviews in morning, rehersals, charity event. Day 4 rehersals and prelims at night. Day 5 rehersals and finals 3. Not everyone can bring husband/children to the pageant for whatever reason so have a projector in the background showing pictures of the wedding day, kids, job picts, etc. to show us their life at a very low cost. Allow about 8-10 photos each. This can be shown during the introduction. Make it part of the pageant. Have the ladies in cocktail dresses introduce themselves and then while they walk the stage the MC could read a short bio on them while the pics are being shown. This would put everyone in the spotlight and not just the top 10. Everyone deserves to be in the spotlight if they represent their state. Those of my suggestions. Any thoughts? I wonder if suggestions have ever been looked at before. Might be a good idea to have contestants write some down before they leave and hand it in. I'm sure there will be outrageous comments but I'm sure some ladies have great ideas and what better person to hear from than the ladies who lived through it!!!! [ Post a Reply to This Message ]

The way the economy is right now it was probably harder then normal for them to put on the best production. I'm sure you'll change your mind when you get there and realize that you put tons of work and money into getting there only to be treated like garbage. They really have lost respect for the women that work their tails off to make the most of their experience. Glad I did it, but hurt by the way we were treated. -- Try another system, 08:55:27 09/12/09 Sat The whole experience was in a word flat! The gifts were horrible-no glitz, no glamour, no fun free stuff, no press, rehearsals we worked our butts off to have it change twenty times, uncomfortable situation with president his wife and another woman, MC made too many mistakes, and everything was very unorganized. It wasn't what I thought it was going to be-this is Mrs. America for crying out loud! Thank goodness for the other ladies & their delegate gifts and friendships made. I never realized how much editing goes into these photos. I guess I never paid much attention. I have seen a few that when you look at their candids there prof. ones look close but alot look so different. These photographers have really good editing skills. I need to buy one of those programs. LOL. I dont mean to bash anyone by any means but just an observation. I think if it were me I would like my photos to look good but some of them I would never guess its the same person. This must be normal in the pageant world. It actaully makes me feel good though- haha. I am thinking wow that delegate is beautiful I could never compete against that and then I look at there every day life picture which they still are very pretty but look more normal. haha

[Edit]	Date Posted: 19:32:53 09/09/09 Wed I would first like to congratulate all the ladies for all their hardwork and dedication they put into their state and the Mrs. America Pageant. You all work very hard and I commend you for putting yourselves out there like that to be judged. Hats off... With that being said, I am appauled at the complete lack of organization and cheapness of this pageant. I have been to state pageants that have been run 10 times better! From the bumbling announcer (may or may not have been his fault considering the poor organization) to hearing Mrs. World lip sync 15 songs I wanted scream. Not to mention the horrible seating arrangement, the absolutely ridiculous ticketing process, and the simple fact (at least I think) the reason they have (it's a 2 day event) the prelim round is to suck more money out of you for an extra day. This pageant can and should be a one evening event if it was organized by someone with half a brain. Everything that was done in the prelims was basically done in the finals! There are a few other things I can mention, but I will spare you the details. Although Alan Thicke and Florence Henderson did a great job MCing the event the pageant was very dissapointing. Many State queens have expressed that their State pageants were a better experience than the national. Now that all 3 of the Big 3 are over I'd say Mrs. US leads the pack by a long shot, followed by International and then America! NEVER thought I would see the day. -- every system has it's ups and downs, 16:11:55 09/10/09 Thu after seeing this...... I am even more convinced that people call them the Big 3 just because they have the sheer numbers.... one system does not stand out anylonger as being the Most Prestigous to me. US, International and America are not televised, the prize packages are so-so... if franchises are expensive in America, if I was a director, I would consider getting out. (NT) -- oh how the mighty have fallen, 13:32:05 09/11/09 Fri You forgot to mention how there were rows and rows and rows of seats for 'VIP's', the photographer was in the middle of the room so it was challenging to see around him, the audition must have thought they were at a football game (yelling and screaming for their state and not letting the MC continue on with the show) and after the top 11 were called, half the audition left!! It was sad. It was a nice vacation away from home but I don't think I'd spend the money again to see the pageant ($130 for prelim & final tickets)!! It says "ON-Line" broadcast. It is obviously tape delayed and shown online on Sep. 15th! The video they have posted is edited very strange! I am now sitting here dizzy! All of the contestants compete in the preliminaries: interview, swimsuit, and evening gown. These are done over the day or two before the final pageant. Then the scores are tallied and on finals night, they call the top 10 or 15 (in this case 11) and those ladies go on to recompete. Well this proves a point. The top row standing didn't make it in top 11. Not a bash by no means just want to encourage others and hope that just because of "who might be competing" shouldn't stop you from going after what you want. A past winner doesn't always make a current winner. Not saying it can't happen but the odds are in your favor to just jump into the competition.
