MRS. AMERICA Announces Pre-Production Start for Its 35TH Anniversary Pageant Targeted for Mother's Day 2011

HOLLYWOOD, CA--(Marketwire - June 9, 2010) - MRS. AMERICA announced today it has begun pre-production for the 35th anniversary celebration of its Pageant as a major two-hour television special to be broadcast Mother's Day weekend, 2011, according to Pageant creator and executive producer, David Marmel.

"We are currently planning a glamorous, eye-popping entertainment-filled television spectacular," stated Marmel. "We are checking and researching the availabilities of top creative and production talents, recording artists, host and co-host, and are also identifying principal location cities and venues, including Las Vegas, New York, Miami Beach, New Orleans, Phoenix, and Los Angeles."

MRS. AMERICA focuses the attention of the nation and the world on the contemporary married woman. What begins each year as a quest for beauty, style, and charm becomes an inspiring discovery of the attributes that make the total woman truly beautiful -- her sensitivity, her boundless spirit, her unwavering determination, resourcefulness, and a strong work ethic to help ensure the well-being of the family.

The MRS. AMERICA PAGEANT attracts increasing numbers of women of all ages, locations, and backgrounds, and receives over 100,000 entries each year from virtually every corner of the United States. A potpourri of contestants representing all 50 states and the District of Columbia are selected through a year-round series of local competitions headed by a MRS. AMERICA state representative together with a local committee of judges leading to the MRS. AMERICA finals.

Today, MRS. AMERICA'S great popularity, both here and abroad, has earned it the distinction of being the largest Pageant system in the world, in that genre, and the fastest growing competition in the United States. The multitude of local competitions in each state leading up to the selection of the state representative has great local and regional appeal, ensuring a highly visible profile of the Pageant, with year-round publicity, promotion, and marketing opportunities.

I am sure she will have to change the date to accomodate for nationals. Contact the state director directly. I did that for my state and didn't have to wade through rumors.

I agree about not holding your breath. This is the same thing Marmel did to the 2009 contestants. Basically, he announced at the pageant that he was "offering" the pageant to networks. He never said he had one, and as we all know, it was never broadcast. Major disappointment....

[> [> Subject: Do you all realize how expensive it is to have a TV deal? How difficult it probably is to "sell" a Mrs pageant to a network (it's not very relevant to our society) and how much planning it takes to finalize the deal and the pageant? Let's be hopeful. I think if this is being posted online and emailed to directors that it may very well happen. They didn't make any statements like this last year. At the very least, I'm thrilled the pageant will now be in April.

[> [> [> Subject: Um it actually was mentioned last year. David Marmel announced at the dinner that he was working with a tv contract to get it on the air and surprise it never happened! Mrs. A is all hype now and Marmel will say anything to try and get his rep back. The same promises were made last year and the year before....
