Subject: Do you think the winner this year will be a delegate who has children?

I think the front runners will be the delegates who have children. It seems that the woman who make it to the top, almost always have families. Especially with all the talk about Mrs. A being televised on Mother's Day 2011. I think this is the direction they are going in, and therefore the winner picked this year will be a mother. Any thoughts?

[> Subject: Yes with it being on Mother's Day I can see the chances of the winner being a MOM! But it is not exactly fair! This is a pageant for married women, not married women who are mothers! There are women out there that are married and can't have children! I just don't think it is fair! I know life's not fair, but this is how I feel!

[> Subject: The ladies aren't judged on whether or not they have children, as some women CAN'T have children. Your theory holds no water, as was stated earlier. You can't penalize women who can't carry a baby, that isn't fair. If it was to be judged by having children, then the rules would state "only women with children are eligible to compete".

[> [> Subject: this will be interesting because if someone with kids wins everyone will say foul play (when statistically more women in the pageant have children) and if someone without chilren wins the one's with will complain. it is no different then wearing white. there is a larger percentage that do so usually someone in white wins. come on, judging is fair and it is for tv that the more is made because a larger percentage of women have kids not to mention that a larger percentage of the viewers will too therefore the sponsors exposure is vast and specific. it's all demographics in tv people...

[> [> [> Subject: HAVE YOU ALL GONE MENTAL!~ statistics alone will have a lady with kids win....look at the number that have kids compared to the number that do not, odds are she will have kids. This is ridiculous. How about concerning ourselves with more pressing matters like, how many are going that do not have jobs to come home to, or food, or health insurance. These are tough times and this is such a waste of talent!

I cannot believe this has not been explained to you before....by some fellow "full of herself" contestant. I remember one time receiving a phone call regarding who won our state pageant Mrs A pageant and the caller made the comment that she was disappointed because the winner did not have any children! No that takes balls!!

[> [> [> [> Subject: That's so ridiculous! My Mrs America state pageant has had an equal amount of women with children as without children. The judging does not include whether they're a MOM or not. In fact, some of them may not be able to conceive a child. How unfair that would be if having children was taken into consideration!

[> [> Subject: Quit freaking! Not giving birth to a child makes you no less important. It is just harder for women who have given birth to have a great body compared to those who have not that's all! Women with children also are more challenged with their time and responsibilities. Winning should not be about if you have kids or not but it could give the mom's a little bonus point because of the added challenge the same as if someone had a disability or other challenge in their life!

In the past, my husband has been able to help me, but this time, all her could do was not freak if I wanted to skip on dessert. I was up every morning at 5am to lose the 50 lbs of baby weight., Then I WORKED, physical work as a dentist full time, then home, play with daughter, collapse, all over again. Not all of us who are mothers and get back in shape have a staff....some of us just have amazing work ethic!

[> [> [> [> [> Subject: Not saying that we moms should get bonus points. But losing weight when you are back at work 6 weeks after birth (or else!), dealing with a screaming child, not sleeping. is really really hard. We all have our struggles and triumphs in our own lives. But please do not perpetuate the stereotype that we pageant ladies are divas with staff to help us with every detail. The truth is, that most of us are "normal" women with a great hobby that keeps us motivated, focused, and connected to our communities. Forgive the typos!

Like I said, DO NOT bring up the "Child Card!" It is so politically incorrect.

[> [> [> [> [> [> [> Subject: Yes, I know that you do. I said that everyone has their struggles and triumphs...but don't assume that just because we are moms and compete in pageants mean that we have a staff. After a host of health problems, I have concluded that everyone has their issues that they have to deal with. No one is immune. Women with children should not get bonus points, but they should not be chided either! If you haven't lived though a child with colic then you just cannote relate. I cannot help you there. I was blessed to have a perfect angel for the most part and it was hard. Harder than 1st year of an Ivy League Professional School. So I can understand where some women are coming from. But if you don't bring up children, then leave out all of the sob stories too. If Mrs. America is a "beauty" pageant like it claims to be then we should all be on an equal field. Wish I could be "naturally in shape", I have to work for it!
