Subject: What do those who are not expected/hyped to win do?

Questioning participation in 2011

As I read the comments on this board, it saddens me. I realize everyone has their favorites and picks to place and win. There are some who are not expected to win and never will be by some of you because you don't think they are pretty enough, blogging enough, thin/big enough, etc. Questioning whether I should participate this year because I know none of you would see me in top 10, but I want to be because I have BIG dreams. If I were to make top 10, I am sure to be bashed on this board by those who wouldn't understand my placement or the judges would be considered crazy for choosing me. I am saddened because I feel I should be given a chance just like everyone else. I may not be as beautiful as Andrea, Stephanie Hunt and some of your other picks, but I believe in myself and I do not have the typical America look. What should I do? Participate and just go with the flow or give it all I got and just suffer the bashing later if I do well? And whatever happened to all women are beautiful?

[> Subject: I say stay away from these boards and pursue your dreams! Who cares if the posters on here don't "favor" you, I bet not a single one is a judge- which is where is matters. And from what I can tell, everyone gets bashed on here, no matter what they look like/have or haven't done/ etc. The negativity that seems to fester here should not affect your decision to compete. We always come up against trials and hard times when we are trying to achieve our goals. Just think of this place as a trial... Blessings and good luck in your competition!

[> Subject: Hey there. I know what you mean. I was a contestant at Mrs. United States a few years ago and while some had me picked to do well, others didn't. And yes it stings. It stung this year when I was 1RU in my state and some said I was "disproportionate" or too muscular. Well, that's who I am and that's how God made me, and honestly, my husband loves it and so do I. YOU have to be the judge of what beauty is. People who come on here and bash are not beautiful people on the inside, they are hurt and broken inside. Avoid these boards. If you have a question about the pageant don't come looking for answers on here, go to your current queen or to your director. Because the truth is this. If God wants you to win, no matter what anyone says on this Board will amount to a hill of beans. So chase that dream.
