Subject: I forgot about Florida! I think both ladies are amazing, but I think Florida will have an advantage. Both are beautiful with great community service, but Florida has a career and kids. Still, I think both ladies have a good shot of being in the top 5 or 10 or even taking the crown. To me, Shannon is a beautiful young lady but Kellie is a woman.

good luck to both

[> [> [> Subject: The problem is that EVERY year everyone loves TX and FL and then they overlook them at nationals. It's not a shoe-in anymore to be from the "big" states in this pageant system.

Good luck to all the ladies!

[> [> [> [> Subject: For the years I have been following the pageant the winner has always had children. I know for the past three years, the winners have been Moms. And it sure seems like they are purposefully promoting family in all of their promotions of the Mrs America brand. Your statement about career may have a small amount of truth, but not buying your statement about kids when everything I see about the Mrs. America system's branding has to do with family.

I am educated.

[> [> [> [> [> Subject: You're not educated on this system. If having children mattered, ALL the state reps would have children. Big deal if the past 3 Mrs. A's have had children. A good amount haven't. Some women CAN'T have children, you honestly think they will be penalized and Marmel will say Don't select them, they don't have children?

C'mon get with it!!

[> [> [> [> [> [> Subject: You are taking what I am saying way too literally. I'm not saying the judges are taking points off or that Marmel is instructing the judges to pick a Mom. BUT I do think it helps a lady even if it is on a subconcious level. Especially when the branding is as concentrated on family as Mrs. America is. All other things being equal, you won't convince me that a woman who balances a demanding career with being a wife and a Mother won't have a leg up on someone who is just a wife. I'm not saying a lady who isn't a Mom has no shot at all. I just think it helps when things are close.

my two cents
