The truth is that the judges come from the same small pool of people every year. There are two that judge most all years and one of them judges EVERY year. They pick their favorites and move through them. Then the director makes every excuse possible as to why it's fair and the national office turns a blind eye. The only way there will be an upset is if the director gets unbiased judges and she made it clear in a letter to the contestants that she will not do that. There probably would have been an upset because she promised all year to stop having the same people judge and said she had replaced the head judge but it turned out to be a lie.
The woman who won is very sweet but did not earn the title, it was given to her by people who have known her for years and like her. It's unethical and unfortunate but that's the truth.
