I think we can beat Albany. This team is becoming more confident, and starting to gel.. lst's not forget how many new kids are in the mix this year. The coach mentioned that he thinks the team is "bonding". I just wish and hope the coaches will focus on the penalty situation. Perhaps some of those offsides were unavoidable? (No to be sexist, but I never played football, so I don't know how the whole front line gets sucked into being offsides) But, the penalties are hurting us and the Dukes would be even further ahead without all the losses acquired through the mistakes. Am I off base?

KKD- Your comments are right on the button about the team starting to gell. I was afraid that the upper classmen would be a bit resentful over the all the new kids coming in and fighting for immediate playing time. The real unsung hero this season I feel, is Greg Hough. He sets a great attitude by moving around to three different positions this year before finding a new starting job at FB.
Kevin Rombaugh also could have been upset over not starting after the excellent season he had last year. He is still the starting holder. Other upper classmen used to more time are also willing to show their class by putting their case for time on the field rather than by grumbling. This is a very unselfish team willing to do what it takes.
I'm just started writing articles for Rival's Duquesne Football side and I'm working on one with this theme.
As far as the penalties, they always hurt, but I think the young players usually make mistakes that hopefully get ironed out as they gain experience.

Your thoughts on the upperclassmen are dead on Coffee. I've been to all three games this year and was intrigued by how Kevin and Connor would react to one another.
Throughout each game, the two are always talking, working together and having a good time. I think Connor relies heavily on Kevin's experience and it seems Kevin is genuinely happy with Connor's and the teams success. Coming from Michigan State, Connor was probably in the same boat as Kevin is now and surely knows what he's going through.

You guys are right--- these players are not letting their personal egos get in the way of team success. And to me that equals a successful team! I think Duke football is on an upward ride. Hopefully the administration will see that as well. As fans, I guess the best way to show our appreciation is to show up at the games.

I agree with the great attitude of the players however Dixon took some ridiculous shots and I relly believe that Rombach should have at LEAST 2 scripted series in which he plays. we are in october and not a series played???? Not many teams go through the season with 1 QB. Just a thought, also he is listed as a Jr. but does he graduate this year? I cant see him coming back twith the same role after graduation......kinda like Knapp.
