Well, they definitely recruited for specific needs. Other then some potential WRs,there are noticeably no skill position recruits on offense (QB,RB,FB,TE)

Breakdown O/L,D/L 9
W/R,D/B 8
L/B 3
Kicker 1

Well, I think Jerry and crew went after the biggest need on the team, Offensive an Defensive Line. We will see how these recruits progress. Maybe a player or two can contribute this season.

I would have liked to have seen a big running back. Also, Some of the linemen may need to get into the weightroom and start drinking the protien shakes. 245/250 lbs ain't going to cut it against Delaware or Albany.

[> [> Subject: I had the same thought. Granted, you expect linemen to grow in college, but it would be nice to see a couple 270-280 pounders, or a couple in the 6-5 or 6-6 range you can stick out there as bookend tackles. I'll settle for tough and strong for now.

A big back would have helped make up for the small line.

We could have used those 2 with the heaviest lineman and someone to replace Troyan

I'm showing some Lehigh Valley prejudice here, but Lattimore is a good prospect. The 285 pounder from Blackhawk looks promising and I read somewhere that Kona, who is a 225 pound LB, has returned kicks. He might be a good athlete.

Having said that, I'm a proponent of the "good football player" over the good athlete. The good football player is the kid who can execute a block or tackle, who knows where to be and what to do, who gives everything on every play, who can think one play ahead, who can track down a ball carrier with a good angle of pursuit, who's aware of what the guy next to him is doing, yadda yadda. The good athlete is the kid cut like stone who can run a 4.1 40 but can't remember to pull his pants down when he craps.
