Curious,
This has been a topic in the past. The athletic department, to be fair has implemented some ideas from past discussions such as pushing for the games on radio and building permanent stands but seems to lack a vision of how to attract fans.

First, they built the smallest stadium in the nation. If you don't build it, they will not come. Its embarrassing bringing friends to this field no matter how well the Dukes play. Its not a collegiate atmosphere. We don't need Beaver Stadium, but we couldn't even keep Central Catholic on campus.

Second, they declared war on the marching band and auxiliaries, giving away thousands of dollars in uniforms and band equipment. These kids attract others and feed the atmosphere and can take it away.

There are other things they could do with tailgating on Bluff Street and not scheduling Valpo, but the first two in my opinion are hard to overcome.

Did you notice that our current field doesn't even hold enough people to contain the average attendance in '03 and '05 and that attendance actually declined after the rebuilding project? Yes we have bathrooms, but otherwise, not enough seats where it counts.

Another main problem is that The two local Major papers do not distinguish Duquesne football from D3 schools. A little more than a paragraph under District roundup is needed for publicity on a regular basis. Also there are never any promotions for the students and I think night football would help. There is no reason for the Robert Morris game next year not to be at night or on a Thursday night. The players and program are here and we have a product that is getting better...........same ole same ole marketing gotta go!!!!!
