 If I may bring in my memories from both sides:
Getting spanked for me was no pleasure but on the other hand never hurt the close relatonship I had with my mom (who was the spanker in our family). In a way, I did feel closer to her when she had spanked me because of the hugs of forgiveness that invariably followed a spanking. And as I approached my teens, there was some warm feeling of another kind as well, which I won't go into here.
Spanking my girls did not give me satisfaction, that would not be the right word. Whether I felt special warmth toward a spanked girl depended on her reaction. Sometimes she just seemed to rub it off or continued to treat me coolly, then I felt disappointed in a way. Sometimes she sought to be physically close, or we talked about the spanking - those could be intimate moments.
