George, you are absolutely right. I don't think things like that were discussed much back in the day. I certainly didn't. I have had a spanking fetish since early childhood, but never mentioned it to anyone, or did anything about it until around 20 years ago. In my adolescent years, I always made a half-hearted attempt to swat the backside of my girlfriend at the time, but only one ever responded favourably. I thought I'd gone to Heaven then!
What changed it? Firstly, it was the advent of videos. Then I became aware of group spanking parties and nervously attended one or two. I discovered that both the guys and the girls were actually quite normal, just with the same interest as I. Through them, I was able to visit girls on a 1-1 basis, which satisfied my need at the time. It is never as good as being in a proper relationship, but beggars can't be choosers!
Of course, the internet has altered things completely. Now it's all out there, people can discuss it openly (thanks O.H.M!), and everything is widely available until the do-gooders eventually close it down.
I've mentioned this a few times before. The first lady I ever visited 1-1 was really lovely. Over coffee after, I asked her if we were odd to be doing this. She replied "don't be silly, SJ, it's the others that are odd, they don't know what they're missing." It's something I've never forgotten.
