 Not necessarily a spanking question, but one about behavior in general. I wonder at what point or age do we get it that if you've been in trouble or warned once it's time to straighten up and fly right? I've noticed with kids that if they get in trouble at school or elsewhere or with one parent, it's inevitable that they do not heed that warning and misbehave in a different way which gets them in even bigger trouble.
I think that as adults we get the message pretty quickly and do not take second chances for granted. Also if we notice the boss is in a bad mood or an authority figure is frustrated we tend to back off and sort of be on our best behavior. Kids don't seem to get that, in fact it seems that they take it as a way to stick pins in which leads to big trouble.
