 GerPo makes an excellent point in that the oldest child has it hardest and paves the way for the younger ones. That would also tie into the birth order point, at least in my estimation. Also headstrong will cause one to be spanked especially if they fail or don't want to understand the point. I'm sure we all found ourselves over the parental knee for one of these.
