 Interestingly, the only person at school that that ever brought me to tears was a woman who taught science and coached tennis.

The principal was a bit of a wimp. You had to pretend his swats were hard to take so he did not add a detention.

The science teacher, on the other hand took pride in saying that no boy ever got past 4 licks with dry eyes and she made sure that was true. I made it to 3 and my eyes had plenty of water in them.

She always gave at least 7 so I was crying by the last lick.

The first time I got swats from her, was because I messed up in her class but the next two were because other teachers asked her to give their swats instead of the principal.

I learned that the hard way.

Mom's whippings hurt more but hers were by far the worst at school.
