I'm kind of thinking she is really not all that shy. I'm thinking that she may be a lot more confident than I ever suspected. She came in on the 4th and I just completely clammed up in a shell. I even got in trouble with my boss because I was trying to hide from her.
She came in yesterday and I brought her a danish that she ordered that I lied and said I had to make fresh, that way I could put the custard in the shape of a heart and hope she noticed. I don't know why, but I started blabbing about recipes for eggplant and how I had read that eggplant takes on the flavor of whatever it's being cooked with. I'd been reading about eggplant and it was the only thing I could think of to talk about. I must have sounded like I was out of my mind. I went into the bathroom and sort of wet myself and just sat in there and cried.
Fortunately my boss was very compassionate although I don't think she knew what she was being compassionate about. Fortunately my shirt went down to mid thigh so no one was the wiser and I was able to finish up my shift.
