It's the age-old question Candice. I have commented before that spanking is as much in the head as in the bottom. That is why a fun spanking can be much harder and longer than a punishment one without necessarily eliciting tears.

Perhaps you should distinguish between parental and consensual discipline. Probably on the whole fathers are just as severe as mothers when spankings are dished out, although from what is reported here methods may vary. With adult on adult spankings probably women are harder. On the whole men respect, maybe even worship, women, especially those who are willingly prepared to bend over for them. If you look on another recent thread, Ms Confused's description of her spanking a girl she is mentoring is probably harder than I would do in the same circumstances, but I would hope to have more "making better" afterwards. There may also be more of a sexual element involved in a male on female situation. I can't really comment on the parent/child relationship, having had very little actual experience either way.
