Your term "abstract punishments" is something I would not have thought of in a hundred years, Wow. I will be using giving up your cell phone and emails for a period of time to no electronics at all along with spending some time at home. Oddly enough I suspended my sons cell for 3 days and that's been it so far. Yet it's only coming up to 3 months since one of them was spanked and 5 for the other. So maybe the post spanking talks from hubby and me have made an impression about what behavior is expected. Maybe we're just lucky we don't know however we're not flaunting it and not fighting it.
Also grounding is not out of the picture and we're kind of undecided on giving spanking to end the groundings.
We're kind of playing it by ear right now.
We've not used the term graduation with them and we've not told them that spanking is off the table, perhaps further down the road.
