Please consider the following hypothetical situation. You have two siblings, Paul and Abby. Paul is 17 and Abby is 15. Both get fairly generous allowances but Abby tends to over spend. She likes to buy the latest fashion items.

Once again Abby has no money and she wants to borrow money 40 dollars from Paul. Paul is willing to lend Abby money under two conditions. One Abby must pay back the loan plus $1.00 of interest. Two, if Abby fails to pay back the loan, then Paul wants their parents to punish Abby. He considers a spanking to be a fair punishment in this case. Abby is willing to agree to his terms.

What should the parents of Paul and Abby do?
