[> Subject: Miss Maryland 1957 Leona Cage and Tara Connor are the biggest Miss USA scandals. Obviously Tara had been into drugs ( or experimental drugs ) and heavy partying while she was Miss Kentucky . It wasn't like she won Miss USA and during her reign got hooked on drugs in just a few months. I mean she won Miss USA in July 2006 and already in October she was consuming drugs and partying when in December the scandal erupted.

[> [> [> Subject: Reality TV was all the roar back then and scandal did sell. Not only Tara kept her crown, she was rewarded, becoming the true star of the Reality TV series Pageant Place. There also was something of a "petite scandal" when during the show it became clear that Miss Teen USA, Katie Blair, slept with her visiting boyfriend in the apartment reserved for the MUO title holders. Katie could had ended up being pregnant and the MUO might had ended up being responsible, in a way, for the permissiveness of allowing and facilitating a convenient pad for these two underage kids. Or was it that her boyfriend was already an adult?

Aren’t Miss Teen USA suppose to promote a wholesome image? If am not mistaken there were takes on which Katie’s boyfriend was literary inside her room laying on her bed.

I know these two places and how dramatically different they are. As I mentioned in my post, Im talking about pageant hoping. WilmingtonNC and NY are two very different places culturally. Geographically, they are pretty far away. She seem to have moved from one state to the other in a short span. Its not like MissFoutain was Jersey Girl crossing over NJ Turnpike to compete in Miss NY or hoping from WilmingtonNC to neighboring Marble BeachSC. Point being, even back then there was state hoping and with quite dramatic shifts, I most say.

I remember being so annoyed by the MISS DC fiasco, especially since Edwina Richard came to my homestate, New Mexico, to compete for the 1987 MISS USA title. A shame she did not get to step onto that MAO stage. And I always wondered how Alison Moreno was able to keep up an enthusiastic smile during the Top 10 announcement at MISS TEEN USA, knowing she was completely out of the competition then.

Her performance was a bit disappointing in prelims that year, and I definitely was not a fan of her gown, I expected A LOT better from her since she was veteran status. Then of course post Miss USA 2012, like less then 12-24 hours later the poop hit the fan man. That young lady competed in 9 state pageants, 1 TEEN USA state pageant and 8 consecutive USA state pageants across 3 states, crazy how her journey with the organization came to an end, definitely not what I expected.
